Hello, I think it would be justified to say I spend 90% of my time at home infront of the computer listening to music and watching netflix, I'm using this small tiny Salpido speaker that I got from my mum and been using it for I don't know, probably N years.

I'm looking to get a decent speakers which provides pretty good sound, mainly for music, is the Edifier 1280DB a good get ? It's on shopee sale now for 319. Or are there better speakers out there in terms of sound audio and pricing ?

Proper high quality speaker would cost about RM4k-6k for a pair, you will not regret and use it for life.

I dont think OP has that much of a budget.

Edifier R1280DB is good enough and often recommended within this price range.

the edifier is good enough. but lack subwoofer
so movies may not be so suitable.
see if you can reuse back your old speaker for sub.

There is a time and place for everything.

For RM319 you can't really go wrong with that Edifier 1280DB. What Salpido speakers are you using right now? If they're in the same performance bracket there might not be much improvement. If they're maybe 5-6 year old 2.1 multimedia speakers with a small sub on the floor, the Edifier might be a good improvement.

Don't splurge yet my man. Don't spend upwards of RM1k on something you're not even sure about. Most people are fine with sub RM500 Edifier speakers.

I see, the Salpido speakers im using is this type, which i think for many many years. I don't even think it's a proper legit speaker, thats why im thinking since im listening to music / movies most of the time, should i buy Edifier 1280DB, would it be a huge upgrade and worth the money ?

This kind of speaker, the R1280DB will surely blow these out of the water.

If you're looking for smaller footprint on the desk, can also consider Creative T20.

Bear in mind of the different footprint between salpido and 1280DB speakers..if you got the space then carry on..

Although if you can stretch your budget, i would recommend you presonus eris 3.5bt or even audioengine a1/a2+ series..

Again, 1280db is good enough edi

Firstly, how much your budget?

Got budget, get at least 5" size for main driver. Get a known brand such as Edifier or Wharfedale.

I would say, bump the budget between 500-800 and pay close attention to Lazada/Shopee 9.9 sales.

Particularly Lazada with their bonus + voucher club combo
Downside is starting this sales, Lazada bonus require you to play that stupid Lazzie game 🤣

5" is extremely big for computer speakers. Desk space aside, it will shake everything on it during loud bass passages. Nearfield listening does not demand big drivers.

After used 4" and 5.5" speaker, I feel 4" bass is not satisfying enough. Cello sound give more deeper and echoing bass with 5.5".
Use foam on the speaker bottom to avoid the rattle, that help to give better sound too.

It's not.
People working with pro audio on a PC setup have bigger speakers. The ability of speakers to image well at short distance is very important.

There is little to no correlation between the imaging ability and speaker size. Pro audio speakers are big because they need the clean bass extension. There are 3 and 4-inch studio monitors for those that don't work with low bass content and don't require the SPL levels that the bigger speakers can achieve. In fact it's actually easier to make smaller speakers image better (albeit with limited SPL and bass extension). Closer distance between tweeter and woofer simplifies their integration. If you are not sitting a good distance away from the speakers you don't need them to be big. The closer you are to a bigger 2-way the worse the "smearing" caused by phase issues between the tweeter and woofer.

I'm not worried about the size when it comes to pro audio. Its because they're doing it for money, its their job.

OP is moving from a pair of entry level ~2.5 inch multimedia speakers and my assumption is he's looking for a better pair to upgrade to. We're not talking about him getting a job as a mixing or mastering engineer. Suggestions and recommendations, in my head at least, should fit their situation.

I can feel the sub bass rumble from S3000 Pro watching netflix. From a bookshelf speakers, thats crazy. Can't find a second bookshelf speakers perform this good at this price.

S3000 Pro is more than enough for music with a total 256W RMS.

I'm not sure how it perform for movie in a big big room. For movie, good subwoofer is always a plus. S3000 Pro can't go as deep as 20hz, but it's at around 35hz. Can feel the punchy bass.

I'm not saying S3000 Pro bookshelf speakers can replace a home theatre sound system for movie. It's powerful for music and good enough for movie.

You can google for reviews, the reviews are just and fair.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
You are using Bluetooth for music right?
My living room is 10ft x 10ft. Still thinking either S360DB or S2000. If S3000 Pro, I guess I need to top up my budget.

I'm living in Condominium. Using Bluetooth is a good option but need to download music and copy to phones.
Use Spotify got ads halfway. Will read more further on reviews.
The speakers connect wireless each other right?
Does the table vibrates?

ya... lower bass, longer wavelength, bigger room required
if not, before a single wavelength is formed, already bounce back from the wall

"Also, bass notes have a long wavelength, some exceeding 20 feet, so a 25hz note might not even create a single wavelength before it bounces off the rear wall and back on to itself." from some audio forum

I don't have golden ears. I hear sound nice enough.
Headache to choose between Soundbar and Bookshelf.

Soundbar can connect through HDMI and USB. Bookshelf opposite but better sound.
Need to find USB Player to play USB music if don't want to use Bluetooth, afraid drain battery and etc.

Thank you very much.  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

How long you have been using this?

A few months. Switched from Sennheiser HD800S headphones to Edifier. Spent only a fraction of the headphones cost. Speakers > headphones. Headphones harm the ears and cause tinnitus eventually.

Consumers paying way too much premium price to western technology companies.
