It is the cable which links both display and the motherboard it seems. It is too close to the cpu, so when the cpu overheats, it somewhat damages the cable which causes the green screen

Maybe his unit is snapdragon 845 which has better thermal performance? If not then what might be the possible issue? Will software update can permanently damage the display like that?

Once he caught up with this news, he would purchased a phone with this problem.

The Note 9 was his daily driver for the past 3 years, he just moved to a Fold 3 as his daily when it launched. So I would say he didn't face the issue, if not he would have definitely brought it up.

I remembered back when the green screen issue starts to appear for most user at the same time..
I was on March 2020 after the March update.
Mine having the same same problem too.
But since March, MCO 1.0 already started, and Samsung SC all closed down..

More and more users seems to be having the same problem after that. With a few forums and website started to talk about it.
There's also Telegram group (with hundreds, or thousand... i can't remember) of users having the same problem... Not just in Malaysia, also other countries

True I remembered I kena that time too, now I don’t bother to repair it and use it as DEX phone. If the phone not heat up and if I don’t use the power button to turn on the screen, and just by tapping the screen to wake it up, the screen usually will be ok, not sure why.

My wife note9 also bought same time as mine but her one is OK, knowing this is common issue I quickly ask her to upgrade and sold her note9 off for RM800 lol

OK I managed to restore it using OLED saver. But since I have no reference display (before spoiled), I wonder how is the display quality after running OLED saver? Almost 100% same?

I think the battery on my phone is faulty. Woke up at 530 with 71%. Just did browsing fb, now 37%. How much does the battery cost? How long to change battery? Is there a higher capacity battery?
