Seems like Iphone is not doing as much sales as its ipod thx to AT&T(country that r not covered)!
It is just a matter of time they will unlock the phone officially, $$ always is more important than partnership..... |

Ipod Touch is already out like 3 days ago. Get Ipod touch if u want to use as an Ipod. It has twice as much room for hard drive (16gigs).

QUOTE(badtz_mark @ Sep 17 2007, 09:37 AM) nope. it seems itunes doesn't care about the plan/carrier once we unlock. It even shows my phone number besides other info like imei. what's more, at AT&T online account page, it even shows that I'm using Iphone even i'm not taking iphone plan. ![]() This post has been edited by irwan6179: Sep 17 2007, 01:34 PM |

I like to provide my input to clarify upon information about the useability of the iPhone in Malaysia. There are quite a few iPhone users already in Malaysia, employing various methods to allow the use of the iPhone with the local telcos.
You do not need to have an AT&T contract to use the iPhone. You do not need to pay extra to purchase an unlocked iPhone - this can be done locally. All you need is to have a contact in America who can buy the iPhone and have it shipped to you. Pay extra for FedEx or UPS or DHL shipment. Do not use the normal US air-mail service, unless you want to run down to the Customs office to clear your shipment. I have been an iPhone user for more than a month now. The results? DiGi Incoming calls - works Outgoing calls - works SMS in - works SMS out - works EDGE - works YouTube - works WiFi - works at all public places that has hotspots (Airzed, TMNet, Time) Celcom Incoming calls - works Outgoing calls - works SMS in - works SMS out - works EDGE - works YouTube - works WiFi - works at all public places that has hotspots (Airzed, TMNet, Time) Maxis Incoming calls - DO NOT WORK Outgoing calls - works SMS in - works SMS out - works EDGE - works YouTube - works WiFi - works at all public places that has hotspots (Airzed, TMNet, Time) The iPhone cannot do MMS. The problem of no incoming call with the Maxis network is a Maxis SIM/network problem. I have - and so have a lot of iPhone users on Maxis - raised this issue with Maxis. For the moment, there is no resolution to the problem - either Maxis is ignorant or too arrogant to consider this as a problem. Only time will tell. Consider this when you want an iPhone, especially if you cannot or will not want to switch from Maxis to another telco. The software to activate and unlock the iPhone to use with any SIMs is freely available online. |

QUOTE(badtz_mark @ Sep 17 2007, 08:41 PM) Now there are GUI version (which is geek/hacker-proof) meaning u don't have to know stuff, all u need to know is how to follow instruction and click2. That's all. My laptop crashes and having hardware problem at the moment, so no direct link that I can give to you fer now. But google iBrickr or iphone hack or whatever. It will lead you to the solution anyway. Just be assure to ask before doing anything you are not so confident doing of. So far I tried to "hack" mine but laptop is having problem, keep getting errors. But I have no rush for simhack as I am currently using AT&T anyway, so I am settled with ringtones hack by far. This post has been edited by derred: Sep 18 2007, 09:51 AM |
