Hey, brothers and sisters out there. WASSUP??!!!

Anyway, I notice that a lot of people here always talk about Gundam. I'm not saying Gundam is bad or evil or anything. I just got sick of them and started collecting other stuff like Star Wars Transformers, Transformers, Final Fantasy, MechWarrior and Armored Core, which is the real reason why I would like to create a topic here

Anyway, I just thought that I would like to say hi to a fellow Armored Core fan out there and maybe share some ideas with them on places to buy Armored Core stuff cos' I'm staying in Subang Jaya and it is so darn difficult to look for these model kits. So, AC fans out there, join me here and share your ideas or your thoughts on AC model kits.

The purpose of this topic:
- To share ideas with a fellow AC fan. (Don't care if you're into the PS game or the model kits. As long as you are an AC fan, you are welcome to share.)
- To help out a fellow AC collector. (For example, if you are missing a part from your AC model kit, like lost or damaged, maybe a fellow AC collector out there can help you out by selling/trading/giving you that part.)
- To inform AC fans on new arrivals or new news on AC model kits in the world out there.
- To do personal sales/trades of AC figures among collectors.

Let's just say that the people there can't really be trusted.

The location of the Mid Valley one is on the same floor as the Haagen Daz. The store used to be called Bran Ryan. Opposite the store is a salon to cut hair. Level 1 or 2, not too sure.
That's the problem, man. Because of the fan support for Gundam and Transformers is bigger and stronger, that's why it is difficult to find AC stuff. But if all the AC fans out there decide to come out and demand for it, who knows. There maybe an increase in stock. After all, availability depends on demand and cost.

Added on September 7, 2007, 10:38 pmI stopped playing AC2 a long long long long time ago. Can't remember the name of the weapons but my favourite is that Machine Gun with 1400 bullets, the blade that can shoot off a wave attack and double-barreled miniguns on the back. Love AC2.

NEW ARMORED CORE UNIT APPROACHING!!

Kotobukiya will be launching a new Armored Core Unit this October (2007). Actual release date is still to be confirmed but i will keep you guys updated. All I can tell you guys is that this unit is HUMONGOUS!! Check it out.

One is the original color while the other.. self-customizing

I've seen all the Armored Core model kits and I'm hoping that one day Kotobukiya will come out with the model without the normal 2 legs. You know, the AC has tank-legs, hovercraft as the part below for legs, or quad-legs like a spider (see picture below for more details. the red-circled part).

Now that you mentioned it, I hope we could actually change each parts of it just like the game

Actually you can, bro. All you need is to buy 2 different AC models and you can change their body parts around as you like. The AC model kits are created in a way that all joint parts are interchangeable with other AC parts. Here's another fact, Gundam weapons can also fit onto AC model kits but AC weapons can't fit on a Gundam model kit.

I'll post up pictures of my AC inter-changing their parts soon.

i got my 1st AC last week. still assembling it

The quality of the plastic is pretty alright, about the same as the Gundam kits. I'm kinda dissapointed over the surface finishing though, which has got those plastic swirl marks, of which the slightly metallic surface makes it even more obvious, especially if you're not painting it.

Details, pretty detailed. I'll say that it's somewhere between the HGUC and MG when compared to the gundam kits. The pieces r smaller, which makes more details visible, but it lacks the internal frames that the MG gundam kits has got.

Overall, still pretty nice kits, with good poseability, but I had some problems with wobly knees on my Mirage C01-GAEA (pic as on the 2nd post in this thread). No idea if other kits has got the same knee problem or not.

I was thinking of repainting the White/Pink model but not in the near future yet. We'll see.

plus I'm trying to rig an AC model with 4 shoulder cannons. Only problem is that it may be too heavy to stand properly.

And I just bought 3 new Armored Core stuff today.....actually considered yesterday cos' as of now it's already 1240pm and it's officially passed Saturday.

Items bought:-
1. NX01 - Rayleonard 03 - Aaliyah
2. AC-007 - Crest CR-C840/UL (Light Version)
3. Armored Core Weapon Unit 004 (Accessory)

Pictures below. Check them you, guys. I haven't got the time to open them yet as, I just got back from Times Square. Busy busy busy busy.

And all cost me RM272....... way way way above my budget.
I was only going to spend maybe around RM150 or RM180 the most. Mana tahu lar, I see the shop got so many choices until I drool all over the shop.
Oh, well no more spending until next month when my paycheck comes in.

Promise I will post up the "end product" as soon as possible cos' I like to take my own bloody sweet time assembling a model kit. My last AC took me 3 weeks . I know. I'm shocked myself. Some of my friends assemble model kits a lot faster. I have a friend who still holds the record among us. 55 mins . I too hold a record. The longest. 3 weeks.

Well said, bro.
So far, touch wood lar, none of my AC models got "wobbly knees".
Only problem I get is when I decide to be "kiasu" and put weapons in every hole (excluding the butt hole) I could find on the AC until it can't even stand at all unless leaning against something concrete.

Like the real AC game in Play Station. Your AC can't go into battle if its overweight.

Well everything has practically been covered by fyire here.

Positives of AC models (my opinion only ar. don't get hostile):
-The quality is a lot better than Gundam, in my opinion as I too have some Gundam collections (but we're not here to talk about Gundam, so please don't start a Gundam thread here. thanx)
-When I shifted office room (yes yes yes. I display some of my models in my office room ), I put all my model kits (Gundam & Armored Core) into a box. And I suddenly dropped the box down a flight of stairs (only 5 steps, no biggie). When I opened the box to check on the damage, I'm surprise that not one AC model was broken or cracked (touch wood). only some of the parts and weaponry got dismantled, that's all. As for the Gundam models, 2 cracked (but still repairable) and 1 totally "char siew pau". So AC models are a lot tougher and much more compact (tahan lasak like the Ford Ranger )
-As stated by fyire, the posing ability is top notched. Check out the pictures I posted up on the first page of this Topic.
-When you assemble the parts together, they actually hold on to one another very tightly and will not be loose.
-The detail of the AC is top-notched. But I think they could do a bit better on the weaponry.
-AC models carry TONNES OF WEAPONS & GUNS!!!
-Here's another positive thing about AC is that you can inter-change parts from one AC model with another AC model with no problems at all, just like the game. And I just found out from the Kotobukiya US forum, it is stated that the AC model kits can also inter-change parts with other Kotobukiya model kits such as the one in the picture below. True or not, I don't know lar.



Negatives:
-Expensive. They are bloody expensive, bro. They cost between RM118 to RM198. If anyone out there can get cheaper or selling cheaper, inform us. Thanx
-Unlike Gundam, they come only in one scale, which is 1/72.
-As stated above, when you assemble the parts together, they hold on very tightly. That is also a negative because if you accidentally assemble them wrongly, you will have hell of a time trying to disassemble that particular part.
-Difficult to look for some models here in Malaysia as the stock is limited due to the lack of demand for it. The support of AC is overshadowed by the support of Gundam and Transformers here in Malaysia.
-Poor weaponry details.
-Some assembly parts are very small, as in really really really really really tiny. Take for example the red light thingy on the AC's head. Would you believe it if I told you that the part is smaller than this letter 'o' ? Have fun putting it in.

Hey AC fans. Why is this topic suddenly so quiet? The first 2 days of questions and helping AC fans out there was cool. Why is it suddenly quiet here on AC topics?

This is the reason why AC is not popular in Malaysia because we AC fans do not talk about it compared to Gundam and Transformers fans out there. We, as true AC fans should be active in making AC truly a popular thing right here in Malaysia. It's sad that we don't care about the thing that we all love. That's really sad.

So come on guys. Make AC much more popular, if not as popular, as Gundam and Transformers in Malaysia.

Things you AC fans can do.
-If you have an AC model, take a picture and post up the picture here where all of us can share it and talk about it.
-If you have an AC model for sale, let us know. You might make some money and make some buyer happy.
-If you have extra accessories that you don't want and want to sell or give away, let us know.
-If you own a shop that sells AC model kits, let us know. List us the models you have for sale, your location of your store, your contacts and your operating hours.
-If you know locations to buying AC stuff, let us know too. What's the harm of helping a fellow AC fan?
-If you only play the game and not into the models, be my guest and speak out to your heart's content right here. Then, we would have something to talk about.

Are all these too much to ask, guys? Come on. Don't tell me you want your support of AC always being overshadowed by other toys and model kits. Time to step up. We're all in this together.

Hey, guys. I just finished assembling my AC-007 Crest unit. About to get started on Rayleonard 03-Aaliyah, but once I opened up the box and saw the amount of assembling parts, I pening kepala (see picture below)



And that's not all, there was one whole assembling kit used to only build a weapon A whole assembly kit just for one weapon? That's detailed and strange. (see below)



Also, there were 4 different parts used to only build a small part of the AC. So the fussy pot. (see the red circles)



And the worse of all is that I've never seen such a small part in an assembling kit before. (see red circle compared to 5 sen coin). If lost, that's it lar.

Because when I was in Time Machine, the sales person told me that inside the Red Mirage box there is an Armored Core cup/mug. Is that true?

Hi guys,i always a Gundam collector.But thinking of starting out With AC.I usually scout alot of model kit stores.As i know,I seen few AC in XL.But the real shop that i seen alot of AC is.......Time Machine,I think its 6th or 7th floor at Berjaya Times Square.So Interested to get one maybe can try your luck there.

XL sell AC cheaper than TM... but always out of stock.

I don't think XL is selling much cheaper than Time Machine.
On 8.9.2007, I saw this AC Weapon Accessory from XL which is sold at RM30, but in Time Machine, it was only RM16, Exactly the same thing. Don't worry, it's not worn or broken or anything. Maybe except the packaging a bit old and dusty, but everything inside PERFECT!

Plus, I saw some AC stuff in XL Times Square and I noticed that their prices are different. Meaning, for example, 1 box of AC-007 is labeled RM118, and the same one below it is labeled RM138. Same exact thing, but different price. I think it will be unfortunate for the person who did not notice the difference and accidentally ter-buy the more expensive one. I'm hoping that the XL staff are "honest" enough to inform their customers about it if they accidentally purchased the RM138 one, that it is only RM118, than thinking about making a quick profit (if that is their plan) or I suppose is a human error to wrongly label a different price on the same product.

Also, I'm sad to say this about XL, but I'm not sorry to talk about it.
I emailed them several times (3-4 times) on some stock ordering question and not even one of my emails is replied back. Is that how the XL people do their business? Ignore their customers? I mean I'm not asking stupid questions, like "Why choose the name XL for your shop, why not XXXXL?" I'm asking about sales-related questions like "What are your operating hours?" and "What are the charges for delivery to Subang Jaya?" Simple questions that can be answered in less than 5 minutes. I should be asking the question, "You guys want my business or not?"

Since that day are being so "irresponsible" and being so "rude" about it, I decided to take my business to Time Machine. Not only do they reply all my emails with full detailed answers, but when I was at their store, the staff are not only friendly and helpful but they were quite informative. When I asked where they put their AC stuff, this woman led me to the cabinet and she told me which unit has only one left, which unit is their best seller, the difference between some of the models, etc. I know that at times, this can be annoying but at least you know that you are being treated as a customer, and because of this, I will guarantee go back to them for my business. Even when I was leaving their store, they still asked that whether I would be interested in Transformers (although I am not) and they explained in detail about what they have and what they are bringing in. Customer valued service. They even gave me their store card and informed me to email them, so that they can inform me on their next arrival of AC products, which is the Mirage C-02 Uranus coming in this weekend. I'm not interested in it but if you guys are, go Time Machine. So, this shows that Time Machine do appreciate their customers' business.

their old price is almost same with XL previously



AC kits do have something like "HK" & "Jap" version like some other toys
the cheaper price that you've seen is source from HK
which the shipping fee is lower

Normally XL 1st batch toys are more expensive due to the reason it's shipped from Japan
then the 2nd batch or the rest is mainly from HK
which will bring down the shipping cost & XL can sell cheaper on the toy



Which email you've emailed to?
So far never heard anyone complain that they didn't reply other people's email
All of their email has been replied by XL

TM is well known for scalping the toys
if that particular toy is not selling everywhere or it's out of stock in the market
then you'll see their price higher a lot

My advise is always go compare the price before you purchase anything from any shops
some shops offer better price on certain item & some shops better price in other items

Nineball will be release on December, with no cup inside it
Red Metallic Mirage Gaea is absolutely same with the AC-001 Mirage Gaea
just the color is different & no cup is included inside

If you said the RM 198 is the Mirage Gaea event limited edition
then inside it has some promotion video inside the box, no cup also

About the HK and Japan thing, I'm not sure, but what I saw was exactly the same product, same box, same everything. And I do compare prices, DUH!! That's why I got the Weapon Accessory for only RM16 compared to the RM30 price tag at XL.

I'm not sure if it's Nineball or what. But what I know is that there was a Blue Gaea and BLACK Gaea sitting side-by-side with really different prices. That's why I asked. (Sorry about the mixed up. I meant Black Gaea not Red Gaea. My bad. ). see pictures below......

All my AC are from Japan, so I'm not sure what's the differences between HK & Japan
My most recent purchase of Uranus is from HK
& I noticed there's a warning sticker written in Chinese
maybe that's the only thing can let you know it's from HK

For sure the runners & contents are the same
just that HK ver. are the batch of stock which distribute for HK toy shops to sell

Black Gaea is event limited edition
nothing much different from the original Gaea except color & has a AC4 game promotion video inside the box (according to the TM aunty)
TM always sell those limited ver. of toys at a much higher price

Armored Core update, bros. I've almost completed my Rayleonard 03-Aaliyah Model. Will post the picture by tomorrow or the following day. All I can say is that, the Rayleonard is probably the best AC model I've invested in. The detail seems to be a lot better than the rest of the other AC models I have. And the color co-ordination of the model is also superb. Black, gold, silver.

I would recommend all AC fans to get their hands on a Rayleonard unit, if possible. Only one bad thing is that, due to some VERY detailed parts, some parts are actually very, very, very, very tiny to assemble. Have fun.

As stated before Tellus is scheduled to be release somewhere in October. And a month after that, in November, another member of the 'Mirage' Armored Core unit is releasing the Mirage C04-ATRAS Fox Eye Ver. Take a look at the pictures below. This AC is also HUGE!!

In my opinion, the head is ugly. It looks like the helmet from the medieval times of knights or crusaders.

Longtime Armored Core fan here reporting. Been playing the game since 10 years ago. Haven't decide whether I'm gonna buy the model kits or not. They're a lot pricier than HGUC 1/144 Gundams that I'm used to collect and assemble, but they do seem to have far superior details than Gundam models. Currently occupied with 1/6 action figures, so I'm stuck in a dilemma between that and Armored Core.

If you had played Armored Core 3 and Armored Core 3 Silent Line, you'd probably have better respect for that head unit the AC's using. In the game, the head unit there has one of the best defense against energy weapons (and a built-in radar W00t!), and it isn't that heavy, so lighter and middleweight ACs can equip it without too much sacrifice on the equipment. An AC's head unit isn't really that great of a contributor for Armor Points and Solid/Energy defense, but every bit, even a little, counts and it may just help you turn the tides of battle during harder missions.

But what am I saying, this is the model kits we are discussing, not the game itself.

Welcome, bro. Welcome to Armored Core. I'll try to answer all your questions, bro.

The reason they're a lot pricier is because of a few things:
1. They're size is 1/72 which means in Gundam size it would be 1/100 and not 1/144.
2. Their details are way way way way way (1000x) better than Gundam. Every part of the AC requires assembly including the eye, face and antenna on the head, the detailed booster on the back, and every armor plating on the body. Lots of work, dude.

I didn't really went that much into Armored Core 3. But I did played a lot of AC2. I know that the head gives lots of armor and stuff, but still, I don't like the looks.
Somehow, it looks like waste paper basket to me. HAHAHAHA
Sorry, it's just my opinion. Different people have different taste. For example, I like the Tank-Legs. Some of my friends like the Quad-legs (spider legs, is what we call them ).

My suggestion to you would be to get just 1 AC model kit. The cheapest is RM118. Just buy one, assemble it, put it on display in your cabinet or somewhere and then you decide on whether or not they are a good investment. To me, for the details and the time I have to spent to assemble just one AC kit sometimes takes a week, and to me, that's money worth.

It's hard to compare AC with Gundam model kits price & quality
unless there's another company producing AC model kits

The cheapest AC model I've seen so far is Dual Face & the latest Uranus
both were selling at RM 98 in XL for certain batch
but I'm not sure XL still has those batch in their shop now

You can't "REALLY" compare AC with Gundam, but you actually can. I mean why not?

The AC model kits are 1/72, approximately the size of a 1/100 Gundam. So if you buy a RM98 AC kit and a RM98 1/100 Gundam (if any), why can't you compare them?

I said cannot compare is due to:
1) Both not same series of robot
2) Different company will have different standard to put the price for their product
We can't just compare a model with the plastic quantity or size
it has many hidden cost behind to produce a model
for example, license & copyrights charge, no. of stock produced

Kobotukiya just started their plastic model kits business not long ago
AC is one of the Kotobukiya's plastic model "pioneer"
it still can't match with Bandai Gundam models in term of plastic quality & user friendliness
if you do buy AC from the beginning until the latest one
you'll find out AC is improving

XL website is not totally up to date
it's better to call their shop to check the stock availability
sometimes the item is sold out but XL didn't update their website

gundam rox more.

I lost a small part from one of my AC units too.

But I did mentioned that there will be the tiny parts hazard in assembling AC model kits. Live and learn, bro. Live and learn.

Hope you find the piece. If it's not necessary, then leave it. If it's necessary to complete the unit and you still can't find it, I think I have the order catalog somewhere where you can post it to Japan in order for the company, Kotobukiya to send you the replacement parts. Cost about 300 yen or so.

The piece I lost is just a minor piece, barely noticeable, unless you look for it. Actually the piece is so simple looking that I just cut a piece of the spruce and shoved it in(looks the same ) The picture below is the result of a week of blisters (Note: The left fist has not been attached as I am planning to buy a weapon unit in the future)
