Hi~
Just stumbled upon this thread when I was searching around for AC model kits..
@ Look&See
Nice office! And nice job on those panel lines and weathering on White Glint! Did you paint it? Or is it the original color?

thanks Wiggles, yeah i painted on them, its not entirely completed,i plan to add some scratches on it as well:)

you are a fan of Ac models as well?
*
Can't wait to see it finished drool.gif
Yes, I recently ordered the Rosenthal - HOGIRE Noblesse Oblige, and Line Ark - White Glint model, can't wait to get them!
I'm kinda on the edge on whether to paint the White Glint or not...either way, panel lining and weathering are a must for this kit tongue.gif

sweet, haha,i have had quite a hard time assembling my Rosenthal - HOGIRE Noblesse Oblige.took me almost a month,on and off.
yeah,White Glint is still my favourite among all the Ac models.
for the repaints of WhiteGlint,i kinda changed the black parts to worn out bronze metal silver and repainted the weapons to gun metal as well.
i wanted to matte paint it too as it looks abit plastic at the moment.smile.gif

trying to find time to paint the Selena.been too occupied at works.

FYI,my technical director is the one who made Armored core 4 answer the game opening cg cinematic smile.gif
thats the reason why im so into these AC models
*
Yeah, I hear Rosenthal - HOGIRE Noblesse Oblige has 400 pieces rclxub.gif
Good choices for the paint, adds more realism to it laugh.gif the color it comes painted in doesn't do enough justice. The same reason I'm going to paint mine when I get it.
I'm planning to paint the gates using the brush...I'm not sure how effective that will be. I'm going to use skull white for main, gun metal for the weapons, and boltgun metal for the black parts.
Would this be a good idea?

Seriously?! Damn, tell him that he did an amazing job at the intro, every time I watch the opening cinematic, I just HAVE to replay the game to recall those good times biggrin.gif
Also, good luck on the Selena!

hmm... let me know if there's any problem with the Delta kit. I might just get one  biggrin.gif
i suggest you don't paint it white, metallic white or pearl white because you can't really see much difference. If you plan on weathering it, very light grey would be best  thumbup.gif

and an image of White Glint from the AC4 intro movie  rclxms.gif

Alright, I guess I'll clear coat it with matte finish then. I can't seem to find them here in Canada though sad.gif
And yeah, I'm going with grey biggrin.gif black stands out too much IMO.
You guys should check this out http://plamo.outthere.info/forum/showthrea...tid=6762&page=1
Outstanding work on that Glint...love the burnt marks on the back boosters drool.gif

EDIT : Never mind, looks like Amazon.com sells a couple. Been searching around, and found that Krylon products have discontinued here.

Care for a Black Glint?  tongue.gif

Should be mid December, 5200yen which is around RM193.

Wow, haven't seen anything like that before. Nice find laugh.gif
I found a site that people can use as reference/guide for painting various model kits including AC, Gunpla, and Zoids.
http://www.geocities.jp/zoidingzero/Galleryfile/Gallery.html

Also, my kits have arrived today! Not sure what to do first though..
Should I matte coat both the Noblesse and White Glint before painting them? Like does the matte allow the paint to stick easier?
Is primer necessary? If so, how hard is it to coat it by brushing?
Lol, these are my first AC model kits..any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance tongue.gif

Sorry if the pics are bad, I'm still a newb with cameras sweat.gif
And yeah, I painted them on the runners without applying primer. It felt like a waste applying the primer as the kit needed only a few highlights..haven't washed it beforehand though..so paint didn't stick as good sweat.gif
I'm still waiting for my Copic Multiliner 0.03 mm Pen to apply panel lining to some areas before assembling.

Also here's where I'm at on White Glint.

Finished washing the runners, left them on parents bed for drying whistling.gif
Going to assemble first, then apply primer icon_rolleyes.gif

One question though, can I use the primer as base coat? My primer has the same color as the base coat for the Acrylic paint I will be using. Will the bond be strong enough for paint/primer to prevent chipping?

Wouldn't there be nub marks after you remove them from the runners then?
Not really, I didn't paint those parts attached to the gates. I am though after snipping/sanding the nubs smile.gif

Thanks biggrin.gif
Alright, time for another update!

Been pretty busy this week, but I managed to get some things done...

First...I created my spraying booth for priming/future uses, similar to the one this guy made icon_idea.gif
http://www.evilcow.net/forum/forum_posts.a...3d331b2f52zee39
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I primed my parts using GW's White Skull primer (these are really expensive...gonna have to find an alternative after this kit shakehead.gif )
all done in the morning, then left them to dry until just now

Oh, and during the drying time, I found a local hobby shop nearby, and guess what I found?

I also saw AALIYAH Supplice Night Battle Limited and Nine Ball Another Seraph Limited kits shocking.gif
but must wait for AALIYAH Unsung! And unfortunately..my wallet wasn't big enough for Seraph sad.gif

Sorry guys, had a really busy week sweat.gif
I haven't made much of a progress..been painting WG parts from here to there..and assembled a bit of the Vanguard Over-boost
Oh and there's a new pic of "Phosphorus" at the Gunpla gallery...apparently it's from For Answer hmm.gif
http://www.geocities.jp/zoidingzero/Phosph...phosphorus.html

Check out this model with the Over-boost

It looks really small compared to the Core shocking.gif

And sorry for no WIP pics on this post, I'll have another update by the end of this week sweat.gif

why it's called alicia(this mech's a girl) unsung on the boxart?? rclxub.gif  misinformation?

Alicia is the name given to the Core due to the modifications made to the original design, which is called AALIYAH. The stabilizers this kit comes with has the name 04-Alicia/Luci1 & 2 smile.gif

LAHIRE!! I loved this model in AC:FA, so fast rclxub.gif
Though the weapons are pretty boring...we get the same weapon units from Unsung! sad.gif
Oh yeah, and check this out. HW Japan already has LAHIRE up for pre-order, with 27% off the original price!

It's time for some more WIP pics!
Finally, after a long weekend, I decided to take some pictures of my progress. This is what I've got done so far...
I've hand painted the arms using Citadel acrylic paints (Skull White, Boltgun Metal mixed with Chaos Black, and Chaos Black)...no panel lining yet though
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Well, for the side boosters, I've finished panel lining them after doing some quick painting...I've used Codex Gray for the wire/cable/tube part of the booster.
The rest are in the same color scheme as I've done with the arms.

i really need to get myself the White Glint & the VOB  sweat.gif  cry.gif
*
If you're getting the VOB, be prepared for it's small size sweat.gif

Continuing on...

Yeah, the core is the next big thing I'm working on at the moment, but I'll get to that later...
Now...let's get to the back boosters. Just like the side boosters, I've finished painting them and touched things up with panel lining.
It's probably hard to notice, due to my novice photograph skills (sorry sweat.gif ) but...after painting the burners with Boltgun Metal + Chaos Black, I darkened a few places on them to make it have a burnt effect.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Moving on to the legs. I haven't panel lined the legs yet, but managed to get some painting done. I used Mithril Silver to paint the pistons at the back of the legs.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

EDIT: Just finished working on the VOB smile.gif
There are LOTS of small pieces in this kit, and some of the pieces didn't fit in too well, so I had to use super glue to fix them into place...
I'll post the pics soon, after the rest of the WIP pics are posted.

More WIPs!

? Something's missing from the legs? The feet! I added in a few details on the feet, but haven't done any panel lining yet whistling.gif The last picture is the under-view of the feet.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Now...let's get to the core unit. I still haven't finished painting this part yet, still got one more wing unpainted. After when the painting's done, I'll be getting on to panel lining.
The boosters on the core are a pain to hand paint rclxub.gif

Hmm... i love the burnt effects wub.gif

By the way, will you be doing simple weathering effects or chipping effects and battle scars?

Can't wait to see your next progress.

Keep it up!!!  icon_rolleyes.gif

*
Thanks! Yes, I'm going to do some weathering using the pastels and dry brushing technique...I might do the chipping effects, but I need to do more research on it first smile.gif

QUOTE
Wiggles: nice ,cant wait to see the finish product !! btw,it seems like you'r from the future huh?camera date stated 2010/01/07 biggrin.gif

Haha oops, forgot to fix the date on my camera doh.gif

And to finish up...a small update!

Ok, the last part. The head unit. This was the first part I've finished as soon as the priming was done. This was frustrating to assemble!
I had to use super glue to stick the stabilizer to the head because it was pretty weak, having the tendency to fall with ease.
Painted, added panel lines to both head and eyes...wish I could do LED modding...panel lines on the eye is barely visible without any light doh.gif

The next update will be on something else...
Hint: It was used when going against this

i know this, its the Bernard and Felix Foundation's Spirit of Mother Will from AC:FA, play this stage on Hard mode really is something  sweat.gif .
btw, can also check this one out, some much 'smaller' scale of it tongue.gif, http://www.geocities.jp/zoidingzero/SOM/Som.html, smaller than the Aaliyah Kpachar , lol.

and yeah i just saw this awsm review for the White Glint and the VOB, really would help Wiggles to paint his White Glint wink.gif, i have yet to get mine still  wink.gif

http://schizophonic9.com/white-glint.html (White Glint)
http://schizophonic9.com/white-glint2.html (Vanguard Overboost)

^ to Wiggels, since ur doing it, how to do the burn effect on the White Glint ah? just strip the colour away with charcoal bit by bit?  hmm.gif , might be useful advice when i buy one soon..
*
Lol, nice finds golbeza TQ TQ thumbup.gif
I've done the burn effect by mixing Citadel's Boltgun Metal and Chaos Black, and applying the dry brushing technique on the painted piece.
I assume it can also be done through the charcoal as well..you could also try using pastels or Tamiya's Weathering Master set smile.gif

More updates..

Some pics on my progress with the Vanguard OverBoost smile.gif
The color scheme wasn't as accurate...so I had to do some painting on my own.
I used Chaos Black and Boltgun Metal to paint the wires/cables/tubes and the main burner at the bottom.
Sorry for the dark pictures sweat.gif the lamp is the only light source I could use.

It was around $250 Canadian dollars...so around 821RM rclxub.gif
The compressor came with a regulator/water trap, had to get another one though 'cause the one included is too close to the compressor doh.gif
Gonna try it out tomorrow icon_rolleyes.gif also going to be busy next week...exams at the end of the break sad.gif
