Hello all, I just joined the forum, I'm from Mexico.
I found the website this morning while looking for some pictures of finished armored core kits, they are not very common on the web but this place has plenty, so I decided to join and say hi. I have never been a fan of the Armored Core games, I didn't play them much but since I was a little kid (I'm 33 now) I have been always fascinated with robots (I guess all kids like robots, at least all the kids that have seen a robot at some point of their life), and the AC ones look amazing. Anyway, I have expended the past week trying to figure out if buying some mechwarrior miniatures was a good idea (I'm a big fan of the PC Game!) but I knew that this model kits existed, and decided to preorder a few: -Crest CR-C89E Oracle Version -GA GAN01-Sunshine-L -Omer Type-Lahire Stasis SCL -Rayleonard 04-Alicia Unsung and I'm still thinking about to get this one, which is the only one currently in stock: -Silent Line Crest Assault Type But is not as appealing to me as the rest of the line, it would be the my first AC and I really want to star collecting, but I'm not sure that I want it and I don't want to be disappointed with this new hobby, should I give a try or wait for the next AC to be in stock? Also I know this one is a very important robot in the game but I'm not sure if the price is worth it, is still available for preorder: -Lineark White Glint & V.O.B. Set - Movie Color Version Any advice you could give me about what buying and what not would be very appreciated. That would be all, I hope to share some pics when I receive my firs AC. |

Hi Bantar328 and welcome!
Just so you know, i hate the game as well but i love the mechs. Oh, you preordered Sunshine-L. They'll be releasing the Sunshine-E in March 2011, if you're interested. Time to save up. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I can't really comment on Crest Assault Type, mainly because i don't have one and the design is not my cup of tea. You can find a review of ithere. Although it's in Korean, the pictures speak for themselves. My favourite version of the Crest is none other than the Dual Face: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « It was my first AC kit and i still love it. Some parts on the legs fall off easily, but nothing a bit of hobby glue won't fix here. You might wanna browse around Dalong.net as it carries a lot of reviews on most model kits. If the link doesn't work, try highlighting the address bar and hit Enter. I have the normal version of White Glint and it is a very very impressive kit. The details are superb and it's well worth the money. It stands taller than most average AC kits. Probably one of the best AC kit out there. And in case you're wondering what's the difference between normal version and animation color version of the White Glint: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « As you can see, the animation version has a shiny tint to it, some of the black parts have been swapped into white, and it comes with additional decals that the normal one doesn't. You could find some pictures of painted or modified White Glints in the earlier pages. Perhaps, those pictures could help you make up your mind. And again, it's always nice to have a new AC fan here. |

Thanks JasonJenn and Parody for the information.
I like the design of the White Glint, but I wish it wasn't so shiny, is there an easy way to change that? |

The easiest method would be of course to buy the normal version instead of the animation version, that is if you can still find it. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If not, you could try using several layers of flat/matte topcoat over the animation version. That should reduce the shine. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « There are usually 3 types of topcoat: flat/matte, semi-gloss, and gloss. The one you're looking for is flat/matte and here's how it'll look like after application: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
