CQ is uncertified and its up to you if the rework cost or risk is acceptable. You might be able to get away with it for slabs that are on firm ground, no movement, and no vehicles (only human traffic) where the only worst case can happen is that the slab (on the floor/ground level) cracked. Do not use for things like car porch or floor slab higher than ground level. The thing fail and drop on someone and kill someone macam mana mau settle because insurance co. can and will find it as incorrect construction method.
BS certified (got SIRIM) is tested for that load that strength.
Same as copper cables.. good thing no cheap Cheap thing no good. But if longetivity and hassle free is the point get BS one. If this is just used to rear chickens then doesn't matter lah.

CQ one is around 30pc cheaper or so https://www.ewarehouse.my/steel-barsYou can compare pricing. From price usually what u pay is what u get. The BS one will be more up to standard..CQ one tend to be smaller. And if they give oval shape bar it will have potential weak spot at the thin cross section. Do u know the yield and tensile strength for CQ steel? different batch of CQ steel has different tensile strengths, even for BS thats y in most project, they will require contractors to perform tensile strength for each batch my suggestion is if u are building something non structural, such as fencing or maybe just a simple base slab for open carpark, it should be fine dont use it for columns, beams or other slabs

Sarawak steel.price n concrete so expensive... when i go hardware ask for steel baru tau gt BQ n CQ type...that guy at shop also cannot explain me the how many strength difference, but he say Cq weak abit only but much cheaper This post has been edited by DiaoMao: Jun 27 2021, 11:59 PM
