I’m looking at some Napure mattress.

Seems to me that for the same mattress thickness, full latex is more expensive than latex (2 inch) on top and pocket spring at the bottom. Example for 13 inch, full latex is RM5,300 vs latex+pocket spring is RM3,600.

Even then, the full latex only has genuine latex on the top 2 inch, the rest is a combo of reinforced latex and PU foam.

Want to get some unbiased, non salesman opinion from forum members here. Is full latex significantly better than a hybrid combo? I currently use a normal spring mattress, is the jump to a good latex+spring mattress already “good enough”?

Thanks!

Note: I have tried these in person and lay down on them. I noted the pocket spring + latest versions felt the best. But they are cheaper and I am wondering if there’s anything I am missing out on, especially over the longer run.

100% NATURAL latex ke? How thick is the mattress? Or was it top layer natural latex, the support layers were reinforced latex and foam? Fully pure natural latex mattresses are not anywhere near rm5k even on deep discounts, unless this was a thinner 7inch or 10inch mattress.

I'm using full latex mattress. I hate it so much but yet I can't dispose it because of the money spent.

Problem with the latex is that over time it starts to gradually soften and caves in easily. Every morning wake up with a sore back. Every 2-3 weeks need to flip the damn thing which is super annoying.

The best mattress for me is a mixture of coconut fibre with latex topper. It holds its shape very very well over the years. Virtually indestructible and no need to flip over mattress at all.

I tested a Napure mattress, with a 2 inch latex top layer, 1 inch coconut fibre transition layer, and 10 inch individual pocket spring layer. Do you think this’d do the job for you?

I just bought 13 inch hybrid from Mylatex for around RM2.8k. Seems to be cheaper than the competition as they tout their Malaysian sourced rubber. I read on SG forums it has quite the demand over there.

Interesting. I wonder how the coconut fibre would feel like since its pretty stiff and being placed on pocket springs which moves.

I think it could work but springs would wear out eventually. I feel like my full coconut fibre will never wear out but the latex on top may need to be replaced after a decade or 2. The compacted coconut fibre is super solid and required 2 person to carry up to my room. It's given me the best sleeps with no back issues at all. May take time to adjust the first couple of nights but after that its golden.

In the end it boils down to personal preference. If my choice is between full latex and a hybrid one, I would take the hybrid one any day. My latex mattress felt good the first 1-2 months before I noticed how much softer the place I sleep in is getting compared to the other sides of the bed. It's been 1.5 years so I pretty much rotated every way I could think of and now the entire bed feels much softer compared to when new.

Another factor to consider could be your age. I noticed that older people tends to prefer harder mattresses.

You could try some of them out. There are plenty of startups giving free trials on their mattresses. Just google and you should be able to come across a few. e.g. https://originmattress.com.my/trial/

depending on certain factors...

1. Your existing bed frame can put in how thick the mattress. Some divan headset is fixed and changing mattress thickness means change bed frame too. For mine, adjustable, can put low like 8" thick to 16" thickness. Thicker mattress means your bedsheet gotta be changed to cover the new thicker mattress.

2. How hard you want your mattress to support your back and body weight. Older you are the more firm it should be. 1200 pocket springs feels better than 800 pocket springs, the more the better.

3. Mattress material. Coconut fibre, latex, hybrid + spring, etc etc. You have to try it out yourself and which is comfortable for your sleeping position. Not everybody feels the same. I settled with bamboo yarn material with 1200 pocket springs instead of full latex.

4. Price.

In the end you have to try it out yourself to know what feels right for your body. Be smart to separate the information from sales talk, different shop has different sales margin and they will push you with those they can get the most commission.

good luck, let your body tell you which is good.

using coconut as base, 2 inch latex topper on top. Firm enough to support, soft enough to fit body arch

I personally don't believe in spring mattress and wont bother to buy one, been using spring since im kid, so do my parents, it losses its bounciness over time and eventually sink down and need to replace one, it is tedious job.
