the box stated there 2TB, so 1TB drive each

hehe... I don't think so... so far this model only can support up to 1TB HDD... 1.5TB is difference...

for example,

Seagate 1.5TB , so far Synology had test this HDD and only suggest to use with model start with X09 and X08 series and also Not recommended for DS108j. This is due to the 24 x 7 hours keep on running...


so, for ppl want to buy 1.5TB for your NAS, better check with the manufacture website first before you buy....

Sure faster than USB la... USB is always slow... can only from memory card transfer also...

I would say at least 60 to 70% compare to direct Sata speed...

For Synology/QNAP NAS is up to 55MB/s.. others NAS normally is slow than this....

SATA is up to 3GB/s
USB2 is up to 480MB/s
FW400 is up to 400MB/s
FW800 is up to 800MB/s

But this thing cannot do VPN right? Example if use VPN to do faster torrent download... this thing cannot do right? hmm.gif

I slot in 2 x 1TB set up as RAID 5, no problem at all..
