Tan Sri Fumihiko Konishi is a chemistry graduate from Tokyo University of Pharmacy in 1966, after studying English, he traveled abroad to different country finally deciding to settle in Malaysia in 1968.
At first he was penniless and have difficulty finding foreign work permit in Malaysia, he soon work in a Chemical dye trading company in Singapore, gaining contacts and experience in the process.
Using his chemical knowledge, he started Fumakilla in Penang (now Texchem), he have since started over 70 businesses which more than 20 failed, he now owns 45 companies which includes Sushi King and seafood production company in Myanmar.
In 2007, he was awarded the title of "Tan Sri" by Agong for his contribution to the economy of Malaysia.
More interested in entrepreneurship, he leaves the running of the company to his CEO while he focus on launching new businesses which now include bio degradable and environmental friendly solutions.

in the interview i saw, he said he was travelling for holiday in malaysia when he got the idea.
he has been travelling to many countries, then only he decide wanna work in Singapore/malaysia.

well, good that he can bring things that is already developed in his country to other country.

I forgot to add that he mentioned to be patient while working for others, stay at a particular job for at least 5 years.
He work for far lower income than in Japan for 6 or 7 years before setting up his own after gaining enough contacts and capital in the region, he can stay to do so because he have a clear objective. (ie he didn't work for an income, but work so that he can set up a business)

Maybe it would be interesting if an English translated version be published, I'll shoot a mail to Texchem and the publisher and see what I may hear from them.
