So who do you think created ivermectin in the first place?
It was researched and created in japan by drugs company.

So they both have the same purpose and the same origin. That was my point in my earlier post.
Both ivermectin and pfizer's antiviral drug works exactly the same.

So why you believe in a new drug but not a 50 year old drug?

in research, the word "expected" does not conclusively said it works.

I mean, I expected gomen workers to fully work 8 to 5 everyday, but in reality?

of course they can't be exact copy.
But the way it works is the same.

Its a generic medicine way past its 20 years patent period.
Thus, doesn't make profit to pharmaceutical companies.

This is why pfizer creating the same antiviral medicine, but with a different name so they can patent and make exclusive manufacturing rights to it.

my thoughts are 50 years ago, there were no covid that's why it is C-19

just like hepatitis B virus was discovered in 1965, so you are telling me to use the drug before 1965 to treat B.... can it really work?

is our equipment getting more accurate or there is more virus on Earth now? what do you think?

ivermectin is antiworm drug dude

non of its clinical trials involve use as antiviral

damn son.

New applications for different drugs always happen all the time. Doesn't mean it couldn't be used for other treatment.
Here's a medical journal for thought:

The 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine was awarded to William C. Campbell and Satoshi Ömura for their discoveries leading to ivermectin [1]. In addition to its extraordinary efficacy against parasitic diseases, ivermectin continues to offer new clinical applications due to its ability to be repurposed to treat new classes of diseases. Beyond its invaluable therapeutic role in onchocerciasis and strongyloidiasis, an increasing body of evidence points to the potential of ivermectin as an antiviral agent.

Ivermectin: an award-winning drug with expected antiviral activity against COVID-19

And this is my personal opinion:
Its not profitable for drug companies to further research this. Its better for them to make a similar type drug and patent it for profit.

Kinda funny why KKM didn't bother doing a clinical study on pfizer's new antiviral drug but had it ordered for us. Do you think that is good enough?

Good question, but its beyond my expertise.
Luckily however, we have abundant of information and good sources to read up about it.
There are some things I could comprehend on a simple level that makes sense.
I don't blindly believe in any medicine, but a research study in vivo does help me see a clearer picture.

Killing a virus has many ways.
Fire kills anything.
Acid corrodes carbon-based materials.
But doesn't mean its the best way of killing a virus.
I totally agree that newer technology pave the way for better medicine and better treatment. But to know for sure if an old medicine still works today is to continue doing researches and study on it. Unfortunately, clinical trials costs millions and are usually funded by private companies. We can't always expect our government to fund a million dollar study and expect nothing (financially) in return. Would be nice if we could.

feel free to prove me otherwise then.
Surely there must be a research study out there that proves ivermectin doesn't work against covid virus.

Below is from your quoted so called medical journal, it said present form of horse dewormer ivermectin don't work you know?

Appropriate drug formulations must address inherent limitations, including poor water-solubility and difficulty in drug delivering to desired target areas, notably the pulmonary environment. As previously mentioned, micro-and nanocarriers have been investigated in an effort to optimize ivermectin bioavailability. In the context of pulmonary delivery, these drug delivery systems can be modified to attend suitable aerodynamic size ranges for the airways and alveolar deposition. Smaller particles achieve a greater deposition in the lungs compared to larger particles. Particles smaller than 5 μm follow the airflow beyond the retro-pharynx and reach the trachea. Particles with an aerodynamic diameter of about 2 to 5 μm are deposited in the upper respiratory tract at the level of the trachea and tracheal bifurcation. Particles smaller than 2 μm deposit in the lower airway and alveolar epithelia [36,37]. Nanoparticulate systems, upon release in aerosol, form aggregates in the micrometer size range. These aggregates are believed to have sufficient mass to be deposited in the bronchiolar region and remain for an extended period, hence achieving the desired effect [38]. It follows that ivermectin formulations produced at the desired particle sizes will allow for particle deposition in either the lower airway or alveolar epithelia, which will then trigger rapid drug release, accelerating the onset of therapeutic activity.

I agree on your fist point. It is normal for pharma company to adjust/improve formulation to prolong patent protection. see panadol, actifast, extend, optisorb, and whatever they can came up with. The generic can copy the old formulation but not the new one as it is still protected. In a way they still need to profit to come up with new molecular compound for medications. For something as old as ivermectin creating new thing is more profitable for them in the long run.

Your 2nd point is why KKM didn't do is obviously because it's a new drug and the innovator company is doing all the clinical trials needed, as this thing cost money why would u want to waste our tax money for something that have to be done by them(pfizer)? However pfizer may approach them to sponsor hospital under kkm as clinical trial site and definitely not the other way around

unfortunately not.
just like during friend meet up, i am expected to reach in 10mins but actually i just outta my house and the destination is like 30mins away and the bad news is not inclusive of finding parking if i'm driving.

so yea... expected is the keyword to play with.
or another scenario is, think of your ex....
ex said: "i didn't want to split up with you... i was expecting to marry you and unfortunately........" so yea
