In my opinion, you have to read everything from start to end. Try to memorize if you can, if not just read through. Then, you must do alot of exercises ! Go buy like 3- 4 exercise books and start doing it. When you do not know the answer, flip through the text book or reference book to find the answer. This way will definitely enhance your absorption rate. Well, It works for me. Good luck

wow most of you guys here got A1, gj rclxms.gif mine was A2 and yea, read the 2 txt books ONLY, do past yr, AND try to memorize the points only. Since the marking scheme only requires you to have the right points + a huraian.

SPM's getting near huh, good luck ^^

be sure that you're willing to really study for it. if you're not willing to, you have whatever books/short notes also no use. it'll come and go at your brain/mind.

p/s: history is my favourite subject. really.

i got A1 for my sejarah. i just studied those first few chapters sejarah in form 4 book. the form 5 book, i totally ignore it. not sure about the current system now, but previously paper I is objectives and I nail that paper coz most of the questions are from form 4 book. whereas paper II, i just pick those form 4 questions.
conclusion, i spot questions.

btw, how many As i scored, it didnt lead me to any local uni. doh.gif to me, spm is a waste of time. hahahaha..

exactly .

so think as the previous leader would , use their logic .. rclxms.gif

for example , the british empire last time would go to all sorts of things to get advantage , so just think of whatever devious method they may use , and you will DEFINATELY recall what you learn about it at the first place.

unless of course you don't pay attention in classes then gg laugh.gif

Essay writing in SPM is fully based on facts from your texts. Around 40% of questions require more than that whereby you need to incorporate some judgements based on historical facts. For instance, I think British shouldn't give up Singapore when giving independence to the Federation of Malaya because bla bla ...

unfortunately the only way to pass our HISTORY paper is to remember what you read.

they like to ask questions that you have to give the date, time, person, place, organization, party, so on so forth.

DEB is important but if you think they'll ask you on all the Dasars, you need your head checked. Buku Hijau is important for checking progress under some Bilik Gerakan Negara, that used to come out in trials my year. Since it didn't, this year? hehe

DATE may appear in MCQ but won't be in essays.

My history tuition teacher used to say that if you couldn't remember the exact date of the historical event. Just give the YEAR in order to show that you really know what you're answering for.

i can't give you examples, my SPM time was more than 10 years ago and i'm sure there were such questions. smile.gif

k la. not time la. LOL. 4.58pm pada 12hb Ogos 1511........ no such thing about time la. hehe.

and perhaps you misunderstood, or i have misphrased. there definitely are questions that require you to state those things.

if there's not anymore, then pardon my outdated thoughts on SPM Sejarah. smile.gif

But if you aren't sure, don't pretend to be. Some times, beating around the bush is the safest path. And you can have WRONG points, they'll still have to read through it. Heck, I used to answer 1 more essay than required.

Let u know how i did it a few years back...
1) Hafal
2) Do a lot of exercise from workbook
3) Spot questions from teacher...and doing the trial questions from 'adabi?' or any other international pre-spot-paper.
4) Take pre-paper from well-known schools around Malaysia.

Most of the questions that came out match the pre-spot paper and i'm fortunate to get an A1, coz i did it while 'smiling' all the way...
That was in 2000.

But if you aren't sure, don't pretend to be. Some times, beating around the bush is the safest path. And you can have WRONG points, they'll still have to read through it. Heck, I used to answer 1 more essay than required.

My teachers warned us not to be a smart alec to answer more than 4 questions. Unless you have tonnes of time left; 30 to 45 minutes.

Please don't buy Tuition Centre notes. You can refer to them but don't depend on them And do take note that one centre normally starts these seminars and a few weeks later, other centres will start the seminars and have the same SPOTTED question and when you friends start bandingkan the spot question and find out they are all the same, don't assume it's guaranteed to come out. It's one centre copying another. I am working at a centre so I saw the papers and LOL-ed.

Talking about spotted question ... that day I listened to a Chinese radio (either MyFM or 988), there's a dedicated session for it. I think it was for PMR. sweat.gif

1. Target a few chapters
2. Memorize those targetted chapters
3. Write as much as you can, if you don't really remember just write anyways whatever you know, who knows you may get points =D

Use mnemonics. It seriously helps, specially for the factors. Anyway, just think of the whole book as a nightime story, just read it like reading a book. It'll go in much easier =)

Cept for those uber boring parts like the dasar dasar -.-" I'm stuck there, its so boring!

Read the text book once. Then read read one more time. After that read it again. Follow that up by reading it again. Having reading it 4 time, I suggest taking the next step of action; read it again. Which obviously needs to be continued with another round of reading.

haha sejarah isn't that difficult. i guess you should probably learn to appreciate why you're studying it and not just try to memorize the whole book. that's seriously impossible.

but i suppose if you really don't have the interest, just read up on important bits like bab tamadun, islam, khalifah, ekonomi bit (form4) and probably how malaya achieved independence and the different parties involved (form5)..

you really don't need to know everything before going in for exam. It's definitely not hard to get an A1 for sejarah SPM. just study and i'm sure you'll do well. anyway, sejarah was one of my favourites those days.. anyway, good luck!

Hmm... just like me, b4 this form 5. But i only get 60-70. Early this year i went for motivation (is the spelling correct??).
They said i need to do a lot of exercise. They recommend to do at least 50 questions per day.
Recently i had a class exam, and i got 92 in history. rclxm9.gif

there was a ceramah that teach us how 2 score sejarah......
He said the objective question only got 8-12 in total for each of the choices
Eg. the total for the answer is A is about 8-12

He also said the answer will no be 3 continuously same (max. is 2)
Eg. 1.A 2.A 3.A (this will not happen in the SPM)

so i u really dun noe how 2 do just fill the answer in this way
1 A
2 A
3 B
4 B
5 C
6 C
7 D
8 D
9 A
10 A
and so on...... whistling.gif

the above information is true but dun copy d example lol

here is something I can share...

to get marks on SPM exam on history.. read only TEXT BOOK... through your reference book away....

why... the marking scheme is base on the text book.. not reference book....

believe me or not.. I get A1 on history...

just understand the subject la.... if u can link what u study in history from every event. sure can score. do active studying. don't keep reading over and over again. close the book visualize what happen. this that.
if possible write small notes n date by pages. ESP TEXT BOOK!!!!!.
don't need to buy reference, cos its the same material over and over again.
n plus u need to know detailing of the history. now the marking system changed ard right?

Hi there!

Yu want an "A" for Sejarah in SPM? And yu are seeking tips?

I scored "A" for Sejarah in SPM 1999. How did I do that? I read the textbook and a reference book. From Page 1 till the end. I'm frigging serious. And if yu want to see my SPM transcript I can provide yu as a proof. (Just PM me).

There yu go. For 1 week duration: CONSISTENCY and FULL CONCENTRATION/IMAGINATION from page 1 till the end. Yu may want to try it.

Regards, Joey~~~

p.s: I might be a little bit weird when it comes to studies...what the heck I scored an "A" for it. Bites me!
By the way, what is "Modul Pintas". Come to think of it...never heard of it ("modul pintas") in year 1999. I'm getting rusty.

Hahaha..

I've got A1 in my Sejarah.. icon_rolleyes.gif

I suggest these below ~ wink.gif

(1) For scoring Sub/Objective paper
- Read - read and mark the points
- Must remember that, if you know the "who when how where" of certain "history", then you can fully understand the whole thing
- Points! Points!
- Practice! Do the SPM Sejarah quiz book after reading.

Con'td-

- Read and read! Read the text book, don't just read the reference book, just read the textbook, if you are bored with it, try to drink coffee haahaa.. I'm just kiddin'.
Okay U must read it like it is a story book, like Twilight and etc.. Lols!
- And get alotof points as possible, summarize it.. Try to memorize..

Here's the important thing for you to know, our History ~ is in the TEXT BOOK, So read the textbook and put alotof effort pls.

Hmmm...I would like to add something, Thread Starter.

Somehow, it brings back memories when I'm grinding through SPM last time. Yes. I do agree with "xcullen". As far as my memory serves me right, I read the Sejarah textbook as I would read a story book.

But of course I have passion and love towards Sejarah. To share my story, I almost ended up reading Law after Form 5. But things didn't turn out the way I wanted and I ended taking other course in a local Univ.

It's not that hard. Discipline yourself and be "open minded" and indulge yourself in the world of Sejarah. I think it's best to start from Page 1. From the initial page, proceed to another page. Pages by pages. Don't take short cuts.

As yu are leafing through the textbook, yu will realise there's an "inter correlation" between the pages. The more I write ere, the more I'm excited with Sejarah. For a guy like me taking 7 days prior to Sejarah SPM and score an "A1" for it, I think yu can too.

I wish yu good luck, Thread Starter and to those that will be taking Sejarah SPM.

Regards, Joey~~~

As a Sejarah A1 student, i would like to share how i study...
well, im not a book worm and 1 hate memorizing-study especially dealing with bio and sejarah.

I failed about 3-4 times for my sejarah in both F4 and F5, my average for test is 30-50+, but i only takes 20+ days to read up a sejarah note photostated by my fren and tadaaa... i get an A1 for my sejarah.(I guess my score on the paper is 70 or 80 something in the SPM)

Anyway, that's for last-minute study students like me,I still suggest u read the book as story and try to keep the important things in ur head. I too was surprise that i only used about 20+ days to study up sejarah. I'm not showing off here but just to tell u that i sleeps in my sejarah class, never know what the hell the teacher is talking in the class. (coz once u missed the front part, then it's hard to catch up for sejarah.)

at first i was going to give up sejarah, but until the last month b4 SPM, i just realised that how important is every subject for me.I skipped school for 20+ days and self study at home. 1 day 1 chapter. I never touch my textbook though.

and for bio, i just used 2 months to study, and i get an A1 too for bio. B4 that i also always fail my bio and my bio's score never goes up to 60 b4.

Highlight pen is important, but do not simply highlight anything just like one of my fren.... his book is full of colors which is crazy. And.. the most important 1, don't hate any subject bcoz u never do well in that subject.

Add-on: Who want my note can pm me.

Your friend is similar to a Univ mate I had last time. All his printed notes and textbooks are all lit up like a christmas tree.Hihihi~~~
Different people, different style, eh?

Anyway, me and my other friends would tease him by saying,
"WOW! Yu sure love colouring! That's a frigging textbook and not a colouring book....Aduiii".

Anyway, it's his style, nothing wrong with it. Just a bit weird though. Hahaha~~~

Read the textbook and reference book as if they are your comics.
If you can memorize all the characters and events in Naruto, Rave, Wira Tunggal Pendekar Laut (er, my bf's fav), then, YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.

Treat it like story book.As the example for me Lord of the ring trilogy leave a very deep impression to me and I can remember the story line fully.
I mean if u read a book like Lord Of The Ring right, there are journey and battle story.Just imagine the introduction of history is a starting place in Shire (LOTR) perhijrahan as the starting journey to get the one ring to Mount Doom, battle among Muhammand prophet against Quraisy and the Islam empayar as in Moria Mine battle, World war 1 as Helm's Deep battle and World war 2 as final battle in Mordor Gate. This is the way how I get my Sejarah A for every test and Sem exam including SPM.

SO tell me what you all think.Interesting isn't it? smile.gif

why dont you ask for it from you sejarah teacher? it has got so many pages i dont think its that easy to send through email.. blush.gif
i got mine from my teacher btw. the whole class has it and i dont remember paying for it at all.. smile.gif
and as some forummers said, it's really useful, because all the important points are in there and it's so easy to read.
read the booklet, memorize all the main points, and write whatever you remember or 'sounds familiar' for the essay part of exam.
points will not be deducted for wrong answers, only the correct answers will be given credits. tongue.gif

Do plenty of exercises. Memorize the answers in the answer sheet(for essay questions).

NOTE: I DIDNT TOUCH MY TEXTBOOKS AND DONT HAVE ANY REFERENCE BOOK FOR SEJARAH, YET I GOT A1.

ALL I NEED WAS EXERCISE BOOKS AND PASS-YEAR PAPERS. PERIOD

I recommend you Pelangi Revisi kilat Sejarah. It is a good book. I love it very much. Just read it through like you are reading love story. No need to memorise for Sejarah essay part and structure. You just need to stress on some important points and famous questions. All you need to do is relax.

write something completely not related to the question is a good move but only applies in essay part

i still think if you want to score for sejarah, must understand the whole story, memorize important facts/points and do freaking lot of exercises!

For essay(same for subj.)
First, i do survey, what questions already come out in the last few years, then study those that never come out before. Memorize the answers from excises books(i got 2 form 4,2 form 5, 1 SPM).

And guess what, out of 5 essay questions, 4 questions i did the questions/seen and memorize the answers. I taught few of my friends this technique. They all salute me!

Stick to the answers sheets!

Sejarah don't buy revision, just read the textbook, its way better than revisions. Cause they put it in a story mode.

Actually 'modul pintas notes' is not bad. You only start to read it when SPM trial or mid-year exam is around the corner. Before that, read the textbook. No memorise work. Hence, if the note has mistake, you automatically will know where is the mistake. Then, do some correction. When SPM is around the corner, other people need longer time to finish study Sejarah. You only need a little time to finish study it. Reading textbook is time-consumed. Which one is better? This is my personal opinion.

Although i pass my sejarah a couple of times only. The best thing to do after reading and revising your notes, is to write down everything you know about what the question asked you. Anyway, if you can get between 5C or above then your SPM mostly will get A2 or A2

I think you'll just have to read the Sejarah book with full concentration. If you have full concentration, I think you'll only have to read once. But first of all, you'll have to make sure that there are no internal conflicts with yourself. If you think studying sejarah is boring/stupid/useless, then you've got a problem. Another thing is to get the interest. You could increase your interest by doing questions. I suggest doing objective questions as it saves time.

i wonder how i get A+ last year for this subjects.Suddenly remembered,i think it was thanks to the last minute tips i get.(I never open text books for sejarah before.) Although i didn't do it,but i think mind mapping helps a lot.

I studied the blue book(nota pintas) given by one of the seminar lecturers. It has all the topics categorized into sections in the order that will most likely come out. I practically flunked my sejarah until the last 3 weeks or cramming everything from that blue book into my brain and I got an A+ smile.gif

I LOLed hard at all my friends who memorized both the textbooks smile.gif
