Guys, I settled for X80J eventually and got my TV today. It’s my first time using Google TV and I wanna know if there is a way to enable Incognito Mode on its YouTube app? If cannot then I will logout from my main account whenever I have visitors in my house. laugh.gif Yeah, I don’t want people to know/see the videos I usually watch. laugh.gif

Second thing, I assume it can sideload apps right? I wanna install Apple Music on it. Will Google how to sideload apps and install other browser because I prefer the usual Chrome.

It’s my first time owning a TV and it looks good from what my eyes can see. Tried YouTube and Netflix 4K. laugh.gif I got it at RM 3184 for 55” with 3 years warranty (2 years Sony and 1 year from SenQ), pretty good deal. I wanted to get X90J and thought really hard about it as the price was around 4.4K on 6.6. Eventually considering the budget that I gave to myself and I’m not so picky myself, I settled for X80J. I’m pretty happy with this purchase. smile.gif

I think YouTube TV haven't got incognito mode yet. I would also love to have that too.

That’s sad. sad.gif I tried to Google but no relevant results. Now I know.

QUOTE(sonyman @ Jun 18 2021, 09:07 AM)
this is something interesting

X80H started of 75 inch price at about 8599

X80J now starts at 8099 for a 75 inch

So is X80J somehow a more value buy compare to X80H if buying based on specs and performance?

Anyone here got the x80J already? Any big big improvement from Sony?
*
I got the X80J, 55" though... However, according to Rting, X80H is better than X80J. Just that I couldn't find anymore 55" X80H or X90H, so settled with this and I got a pretty good price.

QUOTE(sonyman @ Jun 18 2021, 09:10 AM)
But for

X90J the starting price of 75 inch is 10999

While

X90H the previous started price was 10499

this maybe the differernce in the Chip XR chip. but i dont see other things improve other than the eARC

maybe im wrong. what u guys think

QUOTE(sonyman @ Jun 18 2021, 09:14 AM)

Managed to grab the Sony X90J 55" from Lazada TechMall for RM3,999 during 7.7 Sale with free delivery some more.

Just received it two days ago. Pretty good deal and loving it. So far so good.

Those who are waiting to pull the trigger maybe can wait for the next sale.

Can't see such price from other sellers so far.
*
Wow, extremely good deal! 6.6 deal cheapest was 4.4k. If It was 3.99k, I would have grabbed this instead of X80J. I got my X80J at 3.1k.

Hmm.. Noob question here, so to install apps (that are not available on Google Play), I just use its native browser and go to 3rd party APK sites to download and install? Or is there any better way?

Thanks guys!

I could not get the browser to install any APK, at least built in browser won't install it. I install a file manager called 'AnExplorer' and that allow me to browser the files in the TV and install it.

I couldn't even get the built in browser to download an app, so I have to use yet another program to transfer file to the TV, "Send Files to TV" is the program which allows me to transfer files from phone to TV.

"AnExplorer" and "send files to tv" can be installed via the play store.

Great! Thanks for the tips. thumbup.gif

I'm fortunate that I haven't faced any disconnection from my TV. But then again, I'm not sure which band it is connected to because I'm using the same SSID for both 2.4 and 5. laugh.gif

I'm facing a WiFi issue with X80J. It cannot connect to WiFi after it is turned off; no matter how I click on the toggle, it won't be enabled. Only restarting the TV or plugging off the power will help.

Earlier I didn't seem to have this issue, but only in the last month or two months I noticed this problem...

I remember in the new update it mentioned it fixes the wifi kept turned off issue. Maybe you can try updating first. Mine's so looking okay, wifi not breaking anymore.
*
Ah really? I wasn't prompted with any update except one some months ago. Let me check it out then.

I updated my TV on Friday once I saw your this post. I manually checked for software updates; indeed, there was one in June. I quickly updated it and have been using it since Friday; no WiFi breaking issue anymore. I will return to that house again this Friday; let's see if it will happen again after a week.

Thanks for sharing this piece of useful information. thumbup.gif

Anyone has issue with TV volume control lag when using HDMI ARC to receiver or soundbar?
I connect x85j to reveiver via HDMI arc. While the tv remote can control the receiver volume, there is a noticeable delay in volume adjustment. My parent keep pressing the volume button and suddenly the receiver volume make a huge jump to either too loud or too low in volume. It works by press and release the volume button repeatedly. But it is very troublesome. Using tv speaker, the volume control is smooth. Wonder if there is a way to fix this.

It seems this is the same issue:

So far, mine also seems no issue. Just 55X80J with Sony HT-X8500 sound bar.
I don't experience any lag. Will test again later.

The internal storage size is so small that I had to delete a few apps to install other apps. I'm not sure it is sustainable in the long term. Are there any other solutions to install apps?

Bad design decisions for Sony to save penny on the storage but give tonnes of problem for users.

Thanks for this information. I will need to buy a USB drive which I don't use anymore. sweat.gif
Moreover, not all apps can be moved to USB. Can I retain my current apps on the TV storage, and future apps only install on the USB drive?

I have not tried it myself, based on what I read is that the process will take care of it, ie it will migrate the apps from internal and copy out to the usb thumb drive for you, since practically any external usb thumb drive these day will be big enough to accommodate old apps + new apps.

The only worry is that if the detection of external usb is intermittent ( we do experience that on our pc don't we ? ), it will make the whole thing a painful experience.
*
Yes, that's my only worry. Hence, I plan to keep my current apps which are heavily used on the internal, only those not so important ones, I wanna shift to external storage.

I don't think there is an available option here, those apps preinstalled will definitely stay inside the internal read-only partition, those user installed ones will be installed on the read-write partition. Now when adding an external storage, it is shifting the entire read-write partition outside to the usb.

This is my guess.

I still think Sony is terribly unwise to have designed such a small internal storage.
*
Got it. Yes, I agree with you terrible decision to design such a small internal storage.

Current apps will stay on internal storage. Apps installed afterwards will be automatically stored in the USB. But you can switch the location by going into each app settings. I have used a USB 3.0 pendrive to increase the storage, worked fine for a while until each app on the USB crashes whenever I open it.

Mine is the x80h with android 9 and 2gb ram. Netflix always freezes when I fast forward a dolby Atmos content or I binge watch them for a few hours. Had to unplug the power to restart the TV.

Thanks for the information! Looks like this is something I need to be alert about. So far, I’m not installing anymore apps but just in case if I want to install more. At least I know there’s a workaround though not a perfect one.
