How's your A80J so far, like any dead pixel or burn in issue?

I am considering A80L and A95L...
*
mine is only how many months old... cannot be having burnt-in so soon la... tongue.gif if yes, then jialat liao lo...

normally it should take 1 to 2 years before u even will have it...

dead pixels if there is any, since u bought time it will have already. normally it does not suddenly pop out later one.
i did test mine with those youtube video that does the dead pixel test for 2 minutes on all different kinds of colours. it is perfect. ZERO dead pixel. woohoo! tongue.gif

dun see any prob with sony tv. my past sony tvs had been super reliable. if not becos of lightning struck on my old 50-inch sony tv. else i won't even make the change. tongue.gif

QUOTE(neekun @ Nov 4 2023, 06:33 PM)
The QD OLED, do you notice it is really significantly brighter than A80L ka? My current TV is LG GX 65", when I test the A80L, to me it seems more less same brightness which I am ok. Plus side it I the huge 77" screen.
*
for OLED tv, brightness is the known weakness. it is good for low light environment.

unless u go for the highest end QD-LED is what u need. tongue.gif

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-...&threshold=0.10

LG GX and A80L has more or less the same HDR brightness. In fact the A80L being reviewed by rtings has a slightly lower peak and sustained 10% HDR brightness for industry standards.
*
ultimately, it went down to brand preference. i am sure whoever likes sony like me will never go for LG no matter how much the difference. tongue.gif

i wonder if OLED version of A80K/L will have price dropped that much like A80J or not. tongue.gif

i am really that i managed to get my A80J at super cheap price. tongue.gif

Your A80J also use LG OLED panel ma. Haha
*
i know ah. but do remember the engine that drives the panel is also important. this is the reason why sony is better than LG. tongue.gif

one does not need tune the TV out of the box again it will looks perfect. tongue.gif

My A80J run time to date.

About 4 months+ of usage. Got it on 19 June.

average one day 6 hours of usage. tongue.gif

The procedure:
From the TV in standby state (i.e. “off”):

On the remote:
[Display] [5] [Vol+] [Power]

Note: no need to press very fast also can work.

Then:
Select “Self Diagnosis History"
That brings you to a page titled "SELF CHECK".

Once there, at the bottom left of that screen are three unlabeled 5-digit numbers.
[Display Hours] [Boot Count] [Panel Hours]

Guys, was there any protective screen to peel off from the Sony tv? The panel looks like there’s a layer?
*
of course no...

Hi, found OLED tv XR-65A80L for RM9.8k and TnG RM800 cb. Is this worth it?
*
certainly worth it completely. it is at one of the lowest price so far... tongue.gif

i already had my 55-inch A80J which is good for my apartment living room (the tv area is small) else i may get one too.

Update: Sony quoted me RM2500 + RM250 labour fee to change my broken screen.

I'm not sure if it's worth it. sad.gif
*
told u that it will not cheap. urs is 55-inch or 65-inch or bigger?

the smaller it is, the price quoted is more not worth it...

especially now sony their official website also has discount + free tng voucher.. .
more worth it to get a brand new one maybe. tongue.gif

recently my 55-inch A80J was having random shutdown problem. it happened for at least 3 times now.. (not due to idle shutdown function by the tv).

anyone knows what is the cause of this?

Reset to factory to monitor. You no need to send the TV urself right? Give Sony CS call they will come check.

Ohya any device connect to TV which HDMI-CEC controlled? If that device sleep, all will be affected too.

Anyway hope not big issue facing for you.
*
Watching tv yesterday nite. Same prob still happens. It just powered off by itself.

I haven’t done the factory reset yet.

Now I saw that there is a software update available. I try to update and see if it helps.

Not sure if I need to send back to Sony service centre myself or they can come on site to see? Previously my 10 years old 50-inch full hd lcd tv I sent back to service centre myself to fix. Two times also due to lightning strike. First time was within the warranty period which it got fixed for free. Second time no more warranty and I wanted to fix also could not Becos motherboard was spoiled and no more spare part for this old model of tv. So the tv turned out to be a trash and I left it at the service centre without collecting back. Sony service centre does offer 20% off to buy at current tv at retail price, can redeem the voucher for this.

Ended up I bought my this 55-inch oled a80j at rm4999 last year during promo period which was a good deal I would say. Brand new and bought from sony malaysia online.

I only have ps4 and ps3 connected to it. Is it a cause to that? But both of them were not on. All on standby only.

I also hope it is not a major prob. Lazy to get it fixed even within warranty period.

Small TV can carry but big one hard. If spoil during delivery then how? Just give Sony call to ask.
*
Indeed. I moved house recently. If I did not engage mover to move also difficult to carry it one person.

Will just see if the software update fixed it.
Hopefully it is ok. Really do not want to go thru the hassle.

Actually it's not a hassle at all. Just give Sony The Curve a call and they will create a report number for you. Then few days later someone from R Logic will contact/whatsapp you. You just need to tell them your issue and they will send someone to check and replace it on the spot. No need to carry the TV in. All can be done quite fast if they have the ready parts available.

I had my Sony 55" TV mainboard replaced once (1 person), 65" LG OLED Panel replaced once (2 person) all done in my place within 1 hour or less. Turnaround time only around 1 week or so for both brands. Both brands also handled my cases professionally.

Your case sounds a lot like power board issue.
*
Icic. Ok. I will monitor again. If it still shut down by itself for one more time I will proceed to raise report already.

Delivered Jan’23, this TV is wall mounted. My kids are too short to reach this corner.

My other 65” A80J also wall mounted so far ok lah. That one is 1 year older.
*
Ic. Then can just claim warranty then.

My 55-inch A80J is also bought last year only. Less than a year. Everything is ok.

Recently there was random shutdown prob, but after I reset to factory settings now seems to be ok already. Yesterday watched tv for about 8 hours also no shutdown by itself.

Luckily it works, else need to contact Sony for service can be troublesome also.

OLED is still there as Bravia 8 biggrin.gif. The Master series out of my budget anyways.

yes, it is expensive... i only got my sony A80J 55-inch from sony online store during promo time at cheapest possible price of rm4999 for a brand new unit with free delivery and free gift (a logitech keyboard and sport bag). seriously if u ask me to buy at retail price of rm10k for 55-inch i also cannot swallow... of course now the A80L again is under promo at the price of rm7xxx with free tng credits which is not bad deal also... but again still more ex than my A80J for 55-inch... tongue.gif

sony actually gives discount towards end of product cycle, so one is not chasing for the latest tech.. can wait to buy the previous year model at discounted price actually.

i am happy with my purchase though... OLED reallys make a big difference in viewing experience... once u entered OLED this black hole, u can never exit from it. tongue.gif
