Although the nationality rules are not stated in the site, if you tried to register for Singapore qualifier, it stated there that it is open only for Singapore residents.
You can try the Australian online qualifier (details still TBC) later though.  |

after reading some stuffs around the CGS forum it seems that the malaysia qualifiers will be happening
australians are saving up their cash by now to visit bolehland and give try to bet their luck over here in any case theres still no further dates on this since the asian qualifiers is being reconstructed Added on September 5, 2007, 10:56 pmsome extra stuffs before i sleep, malaysia CGS will probably be around mid october lulz? another WGT/CGS clash like in singapore anyone? Event Location: This event is part of the Games Convention Asia 2007 Event, hosted at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, in Halls 601 to 603. Event Hours: 10AM to 6PM each day General Schedule: September 6 - Onsite Check-In and Practice September 7 - DoA4 Competition beginning at 12PM (noon) and continuing until 5PM. Since now the dates already comes out, let's start a gossip.
WHO IS GOING TO BE CGS MALAYSIA GENERAL MANAGER? The birds told me there's strong competition for Malaysian GM. A number of established figures in our local eSports scene is competing for the spots. So for now, we can breath easily as the pple that competing for the GM spots are people that actually know about gaming. But, who's going to be victorious? I heard that GM receive around USD 9,000 per month. Big money! The big USD 30,000 for the winner also got so many pple attracted. Some of these pple might have to sacrifice a lot of things. Good question Chapree, I'm wondering who's the GM myself. How is he/she selected? How is the selection process? Is the GM someone who knows about our local eSports scene or just the sponsor's choice? USD9k/mth is a lot of money, I'm sure many ppl are just hungry for this. And because of this fact alone, the event won't be about gaming anymore, but money.
For the winners of this event, what are the actual terms of the contract? We get only 2 weeks before the event begins, why so rushed? Can the winners actually PLAN to be on call 24/7 whole year to serve the contract with such a short notice? If someone who has indepth knowledge about this, please enlighten us all. |

GM receive 50K usd per year and player 30K usd per year.
If I'm not mistaken you will only gain that if you're top 4 in the Pan-Asia Championship. I've also heard is a 5 year contract but not sure how true is that. The organizers of malaysia region also making their preparation for it already. There's also rumours about GM already been selected. |

I heard the tea lady from Astro is gonna get picked as the GM of the Malaysian Franchise and that she is demanding a 50% salary donation from anyone that wants to get drafted.
Thats what I heard. I also heard that if you sign the draft contract, you'll have to sign it in blood and pledge your allegiance to the ORDER OF THE EMO RANGERS (OOTER) I also heard that Chapree is actually coming up with a recipe for the ultimate epic cup of teh tarik which he plans to unveil during the CGS draft. I also heard that I actually have no life, to be posting stuff like this on some random online forum, thinking that its gonna be the sh1tnitz and everyone can EL OH EL at me. OK Fifa players, this morning I've been asked by the CGS head marshall to help lead a team of local marshals for the Fifa tournament.
So on behalf of CGS to clarify on the long ball rule which says:- "Long balls are not allowed. There is a tolerance zone located a few meters before the middle field line. However, after their own middle field the player is allowed to use this combination" These "combination" type of long balls mean Q+A, Q+D, Q+W types, as detected by the Fifabot. Banned because of long ball moves with these combinations which are undefendable. All other type of long balls which are undetected by Fifabot will be allowed. Just like how our other CGS regions counterparts did their Fifa prelims, we are going to be setting up Fifabot to check for banned long ball moves. Don't worry as there will be online access to ensure the Fifabot works. This is how the marshals are going to enforce the rules:- 1) At the end of the match, marshalls will be going through the match log on the Fifabot console. For each goal scored after a FOUL move, the goal will be deducted from the final score. 2) If we see more than 5 times of the FOUL move being commited on the log or during a live game (Fifabot will cause a yellow box to flash on the top-left corner of your screen), goal or not, accidental or not, you will be given a stern warning. If you repeat the same feat, you will be kicked from the tournament. 3) We will have 20 PCs for FIFA, and 6-10 marshals. Raise your hands immediately if you see your opponent making a foul move. The marshal will observe for the yellow blinking sign, or any other kind of fouls that are against the rules (e.g. time wasting) So, just don't do the banned long ball moves that are detected by Fifabot and you'll be fine. (QW, QD, QA from your own half). If you do it by mistake, and get back possession of the ball, just kick the ball out to hand over possession to your opponent. It is adviced that you switch on Fifabot to practise to ensure you don't commit the mistake during the tournament. To configure for the yellow blinking sign to appear when you or your opponent does a foul, go to the Fifabot settings to set the warnings to visual and save the settings before you start Fifabot. Starcraft is a war simulation. Although warcraft is a pure micro game (macro is almost non existent in w3), watching ppl micro in Starcraft is more fun than wc3. Why? Because units in starcraft move and die so fast compared to wc3. When you see someone micro micro perfectly in sc, you know he did something great (i mean good micro is more noticable on sc compared to wc3). Watching Warcraft 3 also can be confusing. Mainly because everything happens in one screen. I only watch few w3 games with commentators, and those few games explains it all. - Monitor used for Fifa will be 19" LCD monitor. - Registration and Tournament itself will begin Friday. bpwx: the answer to your funny question is yes. Also, I'm currently testing a fifabot which detects for all combinations including QD, if it works properly, i'll be using it. Don't worry if you do it accidentally a few times, u won't be penalised for that. Just be careful and don't do it accidentally too often for it will be reflected in the log after the match. I think half of the ppl here didn't understand that CGS is not like another LAN tournament like WCG, ESWC, PGL, and WSVG. CGS is the first video game professional league outside Korea. But to succeed as a professional league, a game must be fun to watch. Look at Warcraft 3, Its a great game and it has a huge player base. Many LAN tournament got w3 as its official game. But in Korean scene, (only Korea has professional league) Warcraft 3 is a failure. It fails because its not entertaining enough, theres no thrill in watching Warcraft 3. There is not much to expect from a wc3 game anyway. Warcraft is a battle simulation, its all about player A army vs player B army. In a Starcraft game, so many things can happen. Starcraft is a war simulation. Although warcraft is a pure micro game (macro is almost non existent in w3), watching ppl micro in Starcraft is more fun than wc3. Why? Because units in starcraft move and die so fast compared to wc3. When you see someone micro micro perfectly in sc, you know he did something great (i mean good micro is more noticable on sc compared to wc3). Watching Warcraft 3 also can be confusing. Mainly because everything happens in one screen. I only watch few w3 games with commentators, and those few games explains it all. the reason why only 18 and above is because
if u get drafted u will have to sign a contract with cgs themselves which involves a full time pro gamer job which gets u 30k usd 1 yr so anyone below 18 has the commitment of going to skool,blah blah blah and althought ur parents allow its not legal in the context of law of doing ur own decision below 18...wakaka have fun ^^ |

The stupid CGS, I never seen a global competition as stupid as this. CS semi final & Final come together ????? He don't know CS cannot play 2 game continue??? Somehow is Semi & Final ... imagine if you play with FMJ, and u win, the next u going to face is Hybrid??? Who can tahan this!!! Pls ask them to ask some gamer to help organize the competition. Don't ask a group of NOOB to make this kind of funny competition. You though gamers is GOD! And have you go to the CGS offical website ??? How funny I visit there. All broken link, database error. And the mail they send to us for registration also go in SPAM MAIL. (I using yahoo only). I don't which genuis come to organise all this things.

Just a quick update, I think if i'm not mistaken, at top 16 stage, si_jali lost to his clanmate Leoninho.

Seriously think the organizers for this event was pretty awesome! The gameplay was friggin nice, when there's not way too many games being played. Plasma screens was on every corner and even there's a huge projector. Only thing slack was not having a CGS tee shirt! Looks really nice wei! FIFA starting 12pm tomorrow? Coolness! After church go there see them play. Alex, why wanna face me so fast? Your 1st game u wanna tapao me d? Alamakz... By the way all the best to all the 4 guys: Loon, Alex, Vin and Leoninho! With only two css tourneys in malaysia this year so far and they were won by cs 1.6 teams, more so they were both mix teams that were formed just to play the particular tourney. So much for so called pure css only teams.
I heard that fusion refused to train with any other team that was gonna take part in cgs cause they were so afraid that their precious source tactics would be revealed. Their 1st team lost to a 2nd rate cs1.6 team that had only played source for less than 10 hours ... Its 2005 all over again. 2 years later, fusion are still online superstars. Guess somethings never change. |

Just a convenient method to judge who are the top Fifa players in Malaysia. Helps also to apply seedings at tournaments.
For example, I used this ranking to determine the top-8 seeds for the CGS tournament. Probably a similar system can be implemented for CS, DoTa and others too in the future? For this system, only the big tourneys are considered. |

Points ranking system have been used in FIFA scene for sometime.
Maybe one day, the scene can used this kind of ranking. Not only for seedings in tournament but to check your performances. Something like real world sports does: FIFA Ranking, BWF Ranking etc. |

Yup ZipD, thought up this system for the scene in 2005, been using it since for the Fifa tournament seedings. Especially with the tournaments going into single elim nowadays, seedings are important to avoid top players being clumped into the same quarter of the draw early on.

i guess u can classify "big" tourneys as in tourneys that have multiple games in it
at least its more fair in that sense else all the points will go to dota tourneys as it happens more frequently than multi games tourneys |

First things first, we still have not decided on our franchise team name, so we'll still be referring ourselves as Team KL till we brainstorm for a 1337 name that will inspire fear into the hearts of our opponents, they will quake in their very boots upon hearing our name, they will .... erm, ok so you get the drift ya ? *cough* Team KL has been boot-camping together since Tuesday 9th of October, preparing for the Pan-Asian Finals. Tonight was our last night boot-camping and tomorrow, we'll be checking into the hotel and beginning the next phrase of the journey to becoming a paid pro-gamer. No more late nights or having the training room over-ran with macdonald's wrappers from half-eaten burgers, the smell of stale fries hanging in the air and spilled coke. We get to do that all over again, in a nice posh 5 Star hotel resort, instead of a freezing office that has been the make-shift training room for the past days. FMJ our CS:Source Team has been training online since we cant arrange for LAN games plus there are no decent teams to play against locally. So far only Wuhan Dragon's CS:S Team, wNv has been giving our boys a good run for their money. FIFA07, we're in good hands, we've got players from [W|nDs] training with Loon4tiC and he's ready as he'll ever will be. Proud to say that our FIFA07 pride is in the good hands of Loon4tiC and we dont have to worry. The PGR3 Super Mario Brothers have been putting in the hours, obsessively trying to out-run their previous lap-times and practicing their insane high-speed entry into corners. They share a similar scenario with FMJ, unable to find decent players to play against, so Forza and Luige have to make do and hope for the best. Our DoA4 Male & Female players have the largest pool of sparring partners, with the rest of us playing with them and exposing them to different and distinct play-styles. Even JZ the 2nd place winner of the Msian Qualifier has been helping out Bag & Be3 during the boot-camp and his help has been invaluable. All that remains will be how their nerves will hold up during the Pan-Asian Finals, as this will be both Bag's & Be3's first at a major regional tournament. The term: "baptism by fire" comes to mind. Hopefully we'll get to recon the tournament area before the Pan-Asian Finals and maybe scout out the other Draft picks for Dubai and Sydney. Till then, wish us luck and we'll do our best to kick some asses to get Top 4. |
