Some updates :
- Monitor used for Fifa will be 19" LCD monitor. - Registration and Tournament itself will begin Friday. bpwx: the answer to your funny question is yes. Also, I'm currently testing a fifabot which detects for all combinations including QD, if it works properly, i'll be using it. Don't worry if you do it accidentally a few times, u won't be penalised for that. Just be careful and don't do it accidentally too often for it will be reflected in the log after the match. I believe it can be controlled. Not DOTA again ... come on man .. this is an international competition lor. If u wanna play DoTA, go join the SMM tournament.
Its not about international competition or not. I think half of the ppl here didn't understand that CGS is not like another LAN tournament like WCG, ESWC, PGL, and WSVG. CGS is the first video game professional league outside Korea. For a professional gaming league to succeed, the game must be fun. Not only to the gamers but also for the spectators. Spectators are the one that made pro scene possible (Korean Starcraft League). Honestly, i dont think anyone would want to watch live DotA games. DotA is boring. Imagine ppl have to watch players kill creep for the first 10 minutes with out anything going on. Is it fun?, hell no!!! For a game to make it to LAN tournament(WCG,ESWC,WSVG), having a good community and being a great game is enough. But to succeed as a professional league, a game must be fun to watch. Look at Warcraft 3, Its a great game and it has a huge player base. Many LAN tournament got w3 as its official game. But in Korean scene, (only Korea has professional league) Warcraft 3 is a failure. It fails because its not entertaining enough, theres no thrill in watching Warcraft 3. There is not much to expect from a wc3 game anyway. Warcraft is a battle simulation, its all about player A army vs player B army. In a Starcraft game, so many things can happen. Starcraft is a war simulation. Although warcraft is a pure micro game (macro is almost non existent in w3), watching ppl micro in Starcraft is more fun than wc3. Why? Because units in starcraft move and die so fast compared to wc3. When you see someone micro micro perfectly in sc, you know he did something great (i mean good micro is more noticable on sc compared to wc3). Watching Warcraft 3 also can be confusing. Mainly because everything happens in one screen. I only watch few w3 games with commentators, and those few games explains it all. This doesn't help either: wc3 commentator 1: "Now the 2 army clash, who's gonna win this battle" wc3 commentator 2: "Whoaa....a few mistake by player B cost him some of his units!!!!" wc3 commentator 2: "Oh no!!!... player A archmage got coiled and Nova from player B" wc3 commentator 1: "Is it gonna die?" wc3 commentator 2: "yes...it's going down!!! it's going down!!!" wc3 commentator 1: "Wait.........player A uses his TP scroll....." Spectator: "Holy S**t!! !WTF!!.........so anti-climax." The spectator then change his TV channel. They used to have pro league in Korea for WC3. MBC Prime League and another league on OGN. Winning MBC Prime League is just as prestigious as winning WCG grand final. But now they only have one semi pro league on MBC game. Simply put Warcraft 3 died in Korea. If Warcraft 3 fail don't even ask how DotA will fare as a pro scene. Even the current selected game, will get kicked if they dont get popular as spectators e-sports. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edit> I just read the Q&A on CGS website. I lol'ed at some of them. 1.How is the Championship Gaming Series different from other leagues? Other leagues are not really leagues they are tours or tournaments. The Championship Gaming Series will be the first true professional gaming league, offering a league structure similar to that available for other sports. If CGS is the first then what is the Starcraft prfessional league in Korea? Btw... most people in sc:bw community knew the difference between league and tour b'fore CGS exist. 10.How will the draft operate? The Championship Gaming Series Draft will be the world's first true gaming draft and the league intends to make it a spectacular event....................... Another BS. Starcraft pro gaming team in Korea have a biannual draft. They draft from amateur team. Their draft system is similar to NBA draft system in USA. 2007 mid-year Korean e-sports draft. First rookie draft in progaming.
Of all the review on pro-gaming or e-sport, Dev certainly have the most in-depth view on this topic. Hope u would continue to enlighten us in relation to this aspect. |
