more tips for newbie why we always recommend 1k+ used folding bike, understand the parts and do your own survey why "upgrade later" is not cost effective.

we are not discriminate cheap folding bike, but we raise awareness on safety.

if you are really tight in budget, look for those used foldinf bike under 1k with sturdy locking mechanism.

That Shimano Dura Ace brake caliper isn't cheap and it shows that expensive parts needs maintenance too. So far I have no issues with cable actuated disc brakes for normal commuting. Wouldn't really say having ticking noises is a disaster. 🤔 Brake failure is.

Been out of the loop but has ridden bicycles since the heydays of the Chopper. Of course I still learn and encounter new things everyday, and consider myself a newbie. :lol2:

Not everyone is fortunate enough to afford a grand or more for a bike.

this is the point.

for those who asked for rm500 folding bike of course want to keep the cost down.

same like automobile, there will be something called "cost of ownership" over the time.
if one purchased those disc brake folding bike from online channel and arrived without proper tuning of the brake, he/she has to bring over to bike shop to fix it with cost and time too. (if he/she doesn't know how to diy)

V brake or c brake has lower learning curve to fix it.

Some shops refuse to have to do anything with bicycles that aren't purchased from their shops.

If you are planning to use MRT I suggest get one with an optional luggage like this:
2023 Brompton C Line Explore Bike Mid Handlebar ( With Mudguard + Rack ) M6R Black

I understand the luggage maybe is for flight travel to a destination. But if take into LRT/MRT, once reach the destination station and pull out the foldie to cycle to work/office, where to keep or hang the luggage ?  hmm.gif

I am still using the Ikea Dimpa bag, as it is foldable.

Make a custom strap and carry it like a backpack. There is also a better practical option of getting a Trigo foldable travel luggage for Brompton.

Thank you for all the suggestions.

Another thing that I am wondering is that if we can also 'sit' on the bike/bag/luggage in the MRT if the seats are full. smile.gif

Hey all! I have a Tern D9, superb condition less than 100KM clocked to let go. So condition is superb! Because I am not actively using anymore. If you have any friends who's interested or interested yourself, please let me know ya! Thank you!

Hi, new to ride bicycle.
I am thinking of Dahon brand.
I prefer 16inch to 20inch.
Is there any reason not to get 16inch? Will i regret for getting 20inch.
And for Dahon brand, the pricier the better quality?

if folding size is not important for you, get the 20"

if folding size is important, get the brompton or equivalent style trifold 16"

and bike weight always keep it below 10kg.
