QUOTE(stutzedward @ Apr 17 2009, 08:51 AM) hehe.. let's not talk abt iPhone again, I might be kicked out of this thread, haahaa.. Someone is cooking a WM6.5 ROM for KS20, not perfected yet. Go Google as I can't remember where.I might wanna do a hard-reset on my KS20 later as recently, it has been running rather slow. Plan to install another type of UI, maybe Nitrogen Player, Tf3D and other cool stuffs... |

Even though someone is now cooking a WM 6.5 ROM for KS20, it will be still a while for it to be perfected. The WM 6.5 ROMs for both Omnia and HTC HD are still being updated and still contain some bugs. I have opted for the almost bug free WM6.1 ROM for my phones. My 2 cents worth of advise is to go for WM 6.1 ROM with the SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 UI. I am very impressed with the latter.

QUOTE(mikehwy @ Apr 18 2009, 05:49 PM) DrWho, your HTC HD shd be powerful:- RAM/ROM at 288/512 thickness at 12mm (how come it is so thin?) i am still trying to download that SPBms 3.0. the download hands after 20 minutes. but will trry again. i am now gunning for a HTC 3G. the specs are good enough for me.... now checking other specs .... good afternoon. Added on April 18, 2009, 9:01 pm QUOTE(DrWho @ Apr 18 2009, 08:50 PM) 2 WM phones that are worth considering are Omnia and HTC HD. They come with fast processors and have good official and third parties support, eg XDA. A previously owed Omnia is anytime better than HTC 3G. Omnia has been coming out with, on an average a new version of ROM each month. They keep improving their ROM, their latest is so stable that it almost never hangs. QUOTE(stutzedward @ Apr 19 2009, 08:29 PM) KS20 is gd but like said, it's dated. LG sud come out w something new. For now, my aim is d next gen iPhone. Will not go for any WM for now, not until ver 7 is out. Google Android OS phone??Added on April 19, 2009, 10:22 pm QUOTE(mikehwy @ Apr 19 2009, 10:04 PM) I was thinking of a samsung too. i heard that the samsung UI is dififcult to use? especially when i need to make emergency calls (i really made emergency calls .....). is there anything near to omnia that is more UI friendly and simpler? the HTC HD is stll too pricy at rm2.5k for a used one. To make a call, the method for Omnia is identical to KS20. Anyway most probably you will be using third party UI with plenty of Speed Dials.Added on April 19, 2009, 10:07 pm i think it may not resolve the RAM issue and the UI will still be RAM-eating?
Google Android OS phone?? Dr Who, I hv no experience with Andriod before. Heard it's cool. All I've seen are screen shots of the fone, pretty cool tho but the design of the fone physically is not my taste. Kinda odd with the lower part bent.
Currently only HTC produces Android phone, one or two models. Wait till other manufacturers join in. |

Guys, from tomorrow onwards I will no longer be a KS20 owner (have betrayed this community). I has been a pleasure to exchange views with such wonderful and friendly group of forumers. HOWEVER I will still drop by, but as a guest.

QUOTE(Jt2020 @ Apr 26 2009, 04:35 PM) Lol. Scared me ma. Tot this forum dun allow to post others forum things.. It was most probably caused by programs still running at the background. When you press X at the top right hand corner, you were not closing the program, just minimizing it. You must have accumulated several running programs. When you soft reset you were closing these programs. If you are running on WM6.1, use the Task Manager to close these programs. If you are on original LG ROM, goto to Settings>Systems>Memory and stop all programs. The ram of my phone drop from 30 to 20 after 2 to 3 days usage and i have to soft reset it to obtain 30 ram again... Do u all have this problem? There is a third party program, HandySwitcher which allows you to change the X to "Close" instead of "Minimize" |

With KS20 I used to soft reset the device every night before I go to bed. Good practice to free up RAM

Since we are talking about Soft Resetting everyday. Try the free A-A Reset Manager. It can be programed to automatically soft reset for you at a specified time and frequency. Free Slave

My Omnia is currently running on SPB MS V3.0. There are still some bugs not resolved yet, eg you cannot customize with Programs you wish to have under each of the 9 menus in the SPB Menu. Understand it is a battery eater. I can't confirm this, as my Omnia is always turn off - my spare phone.

I am using the AA Reset Manager program in my HTC HD. It is working perfectly except that I did not install the program as it came with the cooked ROM.
Edit: Out of curiosity I downloaded this program to try on my Omnia. You only need to unzip the program at your PC and copy the AA Reset.exe file to \Windows\Start Menu\Program. You can now access the program at the Program Menu. HOWEVER When I configure it to reset once every day and press "Accept", it soft reset by it self and kept on soft resetting itself untill I have to active Hard Reset then only it stopped soft resetting but fortunately without Hard Reset. Close call. Added on April 27, 2009, 10:31 pmFor those of you who are flashing ROMs, here is a tip for you just in case you are not already aware of it. Use SpriteBackup to backup up your whole system to the Storage Card before you flash. Upon Flashing and at the new WM, goto to the Storage Card and tap the Backup file and presto!, your device will be restored and will now contain all the programs and data as before the ROM flashed. Everything will be the same as before EXCEPT with a new ROM. No more importing PIM data or reinstalling programs. SpriteBackup makes ROM flashing so convenient. QUOTE(stutzedward @ Apr 28 2009, 09:01 AM) DrWho, AA Reset Manager behaves differently in KS20, Omnia and HTC HD. In HTC HD it is working perfectly I am using AAReset as a soft button to soft-reset. At least no need to press the Power button to boot it up again, it comes up on it's own. As for the schedule reset, I guess I'll just leave it. I tried 3 times, it just won't run on it's own. |
