Just ordered 1 pack from Machines. Hopefully arrived by next week.

I was going to buy the official leather case as well but the price is not making any sense lol. It’s even more expensive than the airtag itself

I think they should have the 4-pack eventually. Both SG and HK Apple website also got. In any case, damn good lah, this Apple device Find My network. On highway at 80-90kmh also got location update.

It was updated on the highway because your iPhone was in the car, but if there is no iPhone or iPad around, it will not update….

Presumptions, presumptions and wrong. Airtag was in a car with no Apple device. Kinda stupid to test the Find My network with an iPhone in the car.

Here're my results: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=101057375

Will be doing another test in a few days time in the more rural parts of Selangor.

He was not wrong though. If there are no iOS or Mac devices nearby, it will not update.
But good to know that cars near you will be strong enough of a connection to send the data to the Find My Network.
And it will ping every 10 minutes so it is expected to update on the FindMy network

You're correct and I'm sure he's not wrong either. smile.gif His presumptions are.

So far I found that it doesn't update if the Airtag is travelling too fast. Even so I'm quite surprised that it managed to update in the middle of the NPE, the 3:33pm update in my post. I was going about 90kmh at that point.

The worst place it can be is an Android/Windows household. It took a very long time, about 4 hours, to update when I left it at my neighbour's who is 0% Apple. But it eventually found something to ping out to.

Haha.. don’t need to test, many YouTubers and news outlet tested it.

The strength is all the iOS devices. Tile comparatively also take much longer.

I haven’t seen any local ones on YouTube. Link appreciated if you have. The Airtag itself is pretty good but its strength or weakness will be the network or lack thereof since comparatively fewer idevices in Malaysia. Urban or suburban areas should be ok, I guess. Next round I’m going a bit further away from the city.

Can you test park your car with airtag in big shopping mall when MCO is over? let see how far away you can find your car.

You wanted local testing of AirTags? Then nope, all are other countries.

I still somehow feel that AirTags will perform better than Tile. I have Tile, it's quite poor in Malaysia due to users but certain other countries it's good.

Waiting for Apple for 4 pack, hope MCO is lifted. I can properly test both AirTags and Tile.

I never tried Tile. My neighbour had the TrackR which was really hopeless. I guess very few TrackR users around. Both of them are at a serious disadvantage since there're already so many iDevice users. I wonder what's the oldest IOS that will communicate with the Airtag. Only IOS 14? or iOS 13 also?

However, in order to track an AirTag, you must be running iOS 14.5 or above on your iPhone or iPadOS 14.5+ on your tablet. (That update is compatible with iPhone 6s and up, including the first- and second-gen iPhone SE, and most iPads).

It's the same concept, it depends on the community. For Apple, there are plenty of non AirTag users part of the community already.

I tried at Sunway Pyramid. It does not work at all... It works only when about 5m from you, which by that time you can already see the car.
Good for preventing car theft, so might be a good idea to put in an expensive car, in the boot or something where you can hide it.

Too bad, it would be so cool. To locate where you park your car!!

Hiding in boot or something, doesn't it blocks signal or something.

Planning to test that. I bought a magnetic case. I suppose I could stick it under the car discreetly just like in the movies. Will try the boot first, don't want it to fall off.

The other day when I tested it, it was in my pouch bag so the cabin of the car doesn't hamper its signal much.

So you are saying that if you walk in a jungle with no other iOS device with U1 chip within 20 meter radius, you will be able to detect the airtag location?

No lah. You still need an IOS device. Alas I only have iPhone X. 20m may be too far. I just saw a video on Youtube where the Airtag was 5ft away and it wasn't detected with U1 chip. That was in a forest which looked to be much lighter than our jungles.

Switch very fast. Ordered AirTag early PM yesterday. Delivered today. They used Poslaju.

Their system, on the other hand, still shows order as processing.
