I heard this badak a long time ago...I thought this badak project is dead already. I can see improvement...credit to Pindad.
I must say many ID defence projects are done sooner or later although many skeptical when they were announced. Let's see how ID will work to complete their big projects including fremm, Iver, Kf-21 boramae, subs, etc.
Actually Pindad have started mass production of the Badak FSV.
[Exclusive] Applying ‘stealth paint’ to ‘KF-21 Boramae’
Reporter Shin, Shin | Input 2021-08-13 03:10:00
It is known that the first domestic fighter 'KF-21 Boramae', the prototype of which was unveiled in April of this year, is highly likely to have some stealth performance. Last year, the domestic stealth paint development was completed and the performance was proven, so they plan to apply it before mass production of the KF-21.
According to a related source on the 10th, the development of a paint with radio wave absorption function (RAM paint) that Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) entrusted with a research service entrusted to a private company was completed last year and its performance was recognized in the subsequent evaluation. The source said, "We are in the stage of applying (paint technology)." It is said that the performance will be verified by applying paint to the prototype in the process of developing the KF-21, which will undergo 2,200 flight tests over 4 years from July next year after ground testing.
The paint applied to the surface of the fuselage is the core technology of the stealth aircraft, along with the internal weapon window and the infrared emission suppression engine. The reason that the authorities initially started developing paints in Korea was because it was not easy to introduce them overseas due to technology leakage. Authorities believe that this domestically developed paint will greatly reduce the 'detection rate', which reduces the possibility of being detected by enemy radar.

Indonesian defense set to visit Washington to discuss arms deals
Prabowo Subianto's American lobbyists are making plans for the Indonesian defense minister to visit Washington, as Jakarta seeks to increase its rearmament programme against an assertive China.
for something that costs 7.5 million dollars each, to have armor that just can take hits from 30mm shells is so lame.
congratulations indonesia for the new tank, but every other countries are better off getting cheap T-90, VT-4 or even upgraded Type 59G tanks with better protection.
for the same amount of money, 100 Type 59G would be a better bet than say just 12-18 Kaplan MT.
Honestly l would prefer Indonesia bought another batch of secondhand Leopard 2s. Indonesia bought the ex-Swiss Pz87 from Rheinmetall iirc at a price of USD 900.000 each. The problem is there is no more secondhand Leopard 2s available in the market.
The Kaplan MTs are intended to replace the outdated AMX-13.

Kaplan MT (Indonesia : Harimau), the first vehicle exported by the Turkish defense industry in the tank class, will be exhibited at the 15th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2021) with its serial production configuration.
According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, FNSS, the armored land vehicle manufacturer of the Turkish defense industry, will make a strong participation in IDEF 2021, which will be held on August 17-20 with the armored communication vehicles in its product portfolio.
Among the vehicles to be exhibited by FNSS, there will be the medium weight class Kaplan MT tank. IDEF fairs witnessed important developments for Kaplan MT. The launch of Kaplan MT in 2017 and a co-production contract with PT Pindad was signed in 2019 to meet the needs of the Indonesian army. At IDEF 2021, this time the serial production configuration of the tank will be introduced.
The design perfection work for Kaplan MT, which was developed within the scope of the project where FNSS successfully applied the technology transfer model to PT Pindad, and for which a serial production contract was signed after the prototype period tests were concluded, has been completed.
Kaplan MT successfully passed the endurance and firing tests carried out in Turkey and Indonesia during the prototype period. With the entry into force of Kaplan MT's co-production contract signed in 2019, mass production work has begun at FNSS facilities. Under the contract, 18 Kaplan MT tanks will be produced. The first 10 tanks will be produced in Turkey, and the remaining 8 tanks will be produced in Indonesia.
Body design changed
Many improvements were made to the tank during the transition from prototype to mass production. In this context, driver visibility and handling ergonomics have been improved. The body design was perfected in line with the feedback from the end user.
Based on the experience gained from the tests, improvements were made in the tower system, power transmission group, cooling system and suspension system.
The first leg of the first vehicle acceptance tests was completed in Turkey with customer participation. After the final acceptances in Indonesia by the end of the year, the first vehicle will be delivered to the army of this country.
The production of the remaining vehicles in the project continues. Towards the end of the year, the acceptance of these vehicles will start and will continue in 2022.
Kaplan MT Project draws attention as the first project initiated and concluded within the framework of the "Defense Industry Cooperation Agreements" signed between Indonesia and Turkey, as well as being the first export contract signed by Turkey in the medium weight tank class.
I prefer Indonesia to buy more Kaplan MT aka the Harimau. It will be an easy meal for our RPG-7 rocketeers, while eating up a big portion of indonesian military budget.
The hull armor of Kaplan MT is using modular armor. It is categorized as STANAG 4569 level 4 protection, which means the tank can withstand 14.5×114mm AP rounds at 200 meters with 911 m/s velocity. The underbelly of the tank uses V-hull, able to withstand 10 kg AT mine under the tracks and under the center. Due to modularity, the armor can be augmented to level 5 protection (withstand 25 mm APDS-T at 500 m with 1258 m/s velocity) without increasing the volume of the tank, with the frontal arc able to withstand 30 mm rounds.
Bangladesh did have a look at the Kaplan MT, but ordered the VT-5 instead.
Well the Kaplan MT can be fitted with a Pulat APS while the Cockerill 3105 Turret can fire the Falarick 105 GLATGM.
the VT5 can be fitted with the GL5 APS as stated in the VT5 video.
By the way nice for the Gempita to troll behind the Kaplan MT in the picture.
APS can intercept things like RPG-7 and ATGMs. But when faced with something like a 30mm rapid fire GI30 gun in our Gempita that can fire 60 rounds per minute, APS will easily be overwhelmed by saturation. APS like Pulat have limited number of effectors, and it is not meant to stop shells and bullets. Which is why base armor strength is still important even if you have APS.
Good then Malaysia should buy the VT5.
Good and congratz to Malaysia for choosing the Gempita AV8.
Anyway i'm still waiting for the FNSS/Pindad Tracked IFV/APC based from the Kaplan MT to be revealed. It was scheduled to be revealed during Indo Defence this year but the exhibition was cancelled and moved to 2022.
Malaysia priority until 2030 should not be with the army. So money should not be wasted on expensive medium tanks.
Even Singapore, which has mostly prioritized its army in the past, is putting more money into its navy in the near future, with new submarines, new large frigates, new flat top.
Good. Seem everbody priority is the same. Indonesia priority right now is with the Air Force and Navy.

RAPBN 2022: Defense Budget Rp. 133.92 Trillion, Partly for Modernization of Major Weaponry
Monday, August 16, 2021 | 20:47 WIB| Writer Ahmed Kurnia , Editor Lucky S
Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) led by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received a budget allocation of Rp. 133.92 trillion in the 2022 RAPBN. This number increased by 13 percent compared to the Ministry of Defense's budget allocation in the 2021 State Budget.
Based on the planned use of the budget, the Ministry of Defense's budget allocation in the 2022 RAPBN is for the program to modernize the major equipment of the weapon system (Alutsista). In addition, this budget is also used for the needs of non-Alutsista, and Defense Infrastructure Facilities (Sarpras). In total for these three needs, the Ministry of Defense has allocated a budget of Rp. 43.26 trillion.
The special spending budget for weapons at the Ministry of Defense in the 2022 RAPBN is Rp. 43.26 trillion, an increase of 33 percent compared to the budget allocation in the 2021 State Budget of Rp. 32.48 trillion. It seems that the government will continue to carry out priority and strategic activities in order to support the realization of the fulfillment of the Minimum Essential Force (MEF) in stages.
Harimau uses the newest cockerill 105mm turret 3105 which is a high pressure type. I found it this type of turret is gteat. It has elevation -10 to 42 degree which can be used for direct or indirect fire and it can throw ATGM falarick. Harimau/Kaplan MT is initially designed for medium tank and later developed to IFV. SG bionix and SK K21 who were designed initially as IFV.
Yes like this. Credit to Aryo Nugroho.
Anyway seems that everyone is using the Cockerill 3105 turret from K21 Medium Tank, Otokar Tulpar and to even ST Kinetics/SAIC is using that turret for their US Army MPF Program.
Actually Gempita with 30m can penetrate a Harimau with add-on armor. ST Kinetics/SAIC was not selected for the US Army MPF Program, BAE and General Dynamics got to move on to the evaluation phase.
Yes i know. I was referring to the Cockerill 3105 turret not the competition.
I mean....how ready this ship compare to last one? Guarantee no more fire this time?
Well i hope so lesson learned. Iinm read it from an article it will use a new composite material from Sweden. Btw the CEO of PT Lundin (North Sea Boats) John Lundin is Swedish.
