Assuming PIX price = 0.5000
RM1,000 = 2,000 units
If the distribution is 5.00sen, then your total payout is 2,000 x RM0.05 = RM100

"which fund is the best fund and give the best return so far?"

There are way too many funds in Public Mutual's stable, so we can't really say which is best and which is not. Each of them have different benefits in different situations. How do you define "best return"? 1 year? 3 years? 5 years? Most awards won? I mean, there are even TONS of measurements for unit trust funds, there is no definite answer, and again it depends on what type of returns are you looking at.

As I know, the PM Index fund is link with the performance of KLCI.

So is there any PM Fund link to the Dow Jones?

bmw118...

As wat Jordy replied...u have to define wat is the best return for urself.

5% p.a. for 3 yrs? 10% for 3yrs/5yrs?? Then you from there you can decides the type of funds that can help achieving this. But be realistic as well...

For the distribution part...though they announced 5.00 sen, but you will not get full, as that is pre-tax.

So after tax...you might get 4.xx sen

Actually I don't think the PM Index Fund is a true index fund linked to the KLCI. If you read the information page on it, it says that the fund objective is to outperform the KLCI. A true index fund however will only track the index it's linked to exactly. Instead, a true index fund will buy only equities in the exact same proportions as they are valued on the index it is tracking, hence there is no need for a manager to worry about optimizing returns. Everything is essentially automatic. The advantage of index funds is that they traditionally have far lower management fees than equity funds, typically only around the fee charged on bond funds. As you know, the Public Index Fund charges 1.5% of NAV as management fee every year, the same as any other equity fund.

This is why I've asked before (but never did get an answer) on whether or not there is any true index fund operating in Malaysia.

Finally, there is plenty of academic research based on the U.S. stockmarket that index funds always outperform funds in which managers try to pick winners because no one is consistently right in the long run and actively managed funds need to earn quite a bit more than index funds to outperform them due to the added costs of the management fees. Example link:

Index Funds win again

Of course, I realize that this is based on US data and not necessarily applicable anywhere else.

If you think everything has "bottomed", then you can start to pump in money to your desired funds.

Otherwise, if you think the other and wanted to look for clearer signs of recovery. Then you hold your thought and continue to monitor.

what indies that u use to determine current market?
how sure your are that Warren Buffet will do the same as current market are?
if you a long term investor then you have to make sure that you have enough amount of fund if the market against BIG on your direction.
I agree with one of our member(David83) here said that you have to find much clearer signs of recovery more before jump into the market.
