I have lea4allv3, yes it should be leo4Allv3. Check out leo4All wiki page leo4all info .

BTW, you might also want kalyway 10.5.3 updater.

Added on June 30, 2008, 8:56 pm
Matrix, OS X does support multisession disc.  If you want multi session, you have to use HFS+ via Disk Utility. Also it appends disk image unlike Windows where things still appears as a single disc. For example, if you burn 3 multisession onto CD, when CD is mounted it will should show 3 disk image on desktop.

You can always use Toast for ISO, as you have already mention.

Will try NVInject...
*
Thanks for the tip, but it seems very troublesome. All i want is to append files and see it as normal file/folders! I think i'll go with Toast.

Finished downloading Kalyway 10.5.2 today, the combo pack should be ready in less than half an hour.

Hopefully can install my laptop tonight.

Last night I install NVInstaller 0.41 for 10.5.2 and later upgrade to 10.5.3 with NVInstaller 0.52. The monitor resolutions show as high as 1280 x 1024 in System preference, I am using 1st generation Acer 17" with VGA. However not switchable to higher resolution. Screen turns blue when switch higher res but not hang, still manage to get back 1024 x 768. Other than that Quartz Extreme is supported according to System Profiler.

Still having problem with USB, thumb drive will not mount. As for 10.5.3 updating, when I do update -v, display error message "Sandbox init error "Apple....", can't remember exact message. Although the About This Mac window show it is 10.5.3, I am not sure it is fully update to 10.5.3. I did not install new kernel 9.3, still using 9.2 kernel.

This morning when I check software update, it list 10.5.4. Let's see when Kalyway 10.5.4 updater is available.
*
Last night tried installing Kalyway to my AMD laptop....failed...after installation when it boots it says something about HFS+ error.

I think it's becoz i've XP and an Acronis hidden partition in it that screws up the thing. I think i'll reformat the whole HDD first, since already got XP backup on Acronis on external HDD.

But seriously...Kalyway took freaking long time to install....mau tidur also cannot. Re-in stall 2nd time, I wait until 1am, cannot tahan and just went to sleep..Zzzzzzz....IATKOS was much faster, but unfortunately can't work for my AMD laptop.

I should finish downloading Leo4Allv3 today....maybe can try that.

10.5.4 is it? I think i'll download and install to my desktop Mac OSX...(IATKOS using EFI and vanilla kernel), which i've updated with the official 10.5.3 previously.

I wonder how often apple do updates...hope not too often....headache installing wor....ha-ha.

Try this:
1) Enables USB mouse and keyboard in BIOS.

2) Reboot with your Installer DVD. Go to disk utility. Select your MAC OSX partition and select "repair permissions".

Reboot. Cross fingers. Pray.

I am pulling my hair out already.

Installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my laptop.

My laptop is an AMD X2 Turion and Nforce based mobo i think , since the GPU is a Geforce 6100.

Installation for the Kalyway took a miserable 2.5 hours....and then it doesn't work. It's better than the IATKOS as it manage to install, but it refuse to boot and hangs at a part where the message says something about "time out....write to kernel" with a blinking cursor just hangs there.

Now i am trying Leo4Allv3, but seems to hangs at the DVD boot up...can't even install yet...

Wait! It just managed to go into the install screen as i type!!

Ok gotta go now...update later.

Added on July 2, 2008, 12:37 pmBah...

I managed to install the Leo4all on my lappy, so happy! Then i go make it dual boot with XP using the chain0 file...works!!!

Then i go run the nvinstaller 52 (coz no QE/CI and only one resolution)..and nuked my MacOSX....doh.gif

I think MacOSX just hates AMD machines....regret didn't buy a C2D lappy last time....sigh..

Actually, you don't need to read too much, just the general guide will do. Only look or the problem when you hits it or you'll be running in circles.

Best way is to install and test on your hardware. You could get lucky and install on first try (like kena lottery...).

If you want the simplest wan, i think IATKOS is good with less options and more straightfoward.
However, it is only good for Intel C2D machines. AMD will always have it tough becoz the Mac doesn't runs on an AMD in the first place, so lots of hackings and patching are needed and maybe not so stable.

My Desktop PC OSX(intel C2D) really fast and stable..boot up time beats Vista, XP and Ubuntu.....but my lappy took > 5 minutes just to boot up!!! rclxub.gif

Very funny question ha-ha... laugh.gif

Just try and see. If it hangs a long time at the last line, then somehing must be wrong there. You'll get the drift soon enough.

But then again, sometimes it's normal to be slow....patience young jedi...this is a hackintosh...not a mac...smile.gif

Congrats !

Apple endorse Intel CPUs, Mac OS X is optimize with Intel code. I read somewhere in Hackintosh website, some Intel instructions are emulated in hakintosh OS for AMD CPU. That's why Mac OS X does not work well with AMD.

I think I am going for Retail Leopard DVD Install (read above thread) when I have free time.
*
Err...congrats for what...my CI/QE still not working... sad.gif

I've re-install and tried Nvinstaller .42 ( I realized now .52 is for 10.5.3, .42 is for 10.5.1 & 10.5.2) but it still nuked my mac with kernel panic and hangs.

I really want my lappy to run in native resolution. sad.gif

I've re-installed Leo4All 3rd time...this time i use Acronis to backup the Leo4All installed image first...restoring from Acronis is much faster than wasting another 1.5 hours for the installation....at least it's much faster than Kalyway...2.5 hours at least.. doh.gif

But everything else seems to work, sound, ethernet and even the airport (which doesn't seems very stable and it hangs before when i do scanning...no time to test throughly yet).

But the boot time is...Zzzzz...so s-l-o-w....i think this is due to the hacked kernel and patches. Booting on my dekstop with the IATKOS installation also very slow, until i update with the official 10.5.3, the boot time suddenly became super fast!! I guess it's always best to run with vanilla kernel whenever possible.

btw, how do you check which kernel is currently running?

Why don't you take out your DVD and reboot?

Follow on screen instructions, i think press Enter, then do a -v and see what happens. Leave it running for 15 minutes at least...boot up time can be VERY SLOW.

Hhmmm

Looks like i will not be able to QE/CI support for my 6100 GPU coz the drivers simply don't support GPU with shared RAM...

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=102006

No need to keep banging my head against the wall...

There's an old driver called Macvidia which supposely can at least give different resolutions.

I'll try going that way now.

I think I surrender with installing on the lappy already. I've tested it install ok, then i restore the boot disk to my WinXP partition. Bootloader using EasyBCD works, then reboot to Hackintosh...it hangs....

I think it's time to change my laptop to an Intel wan...and get a lappy with dedicated VRAM instead of shared RAM.

Triple booting is not a problem. I quad boot my desktop. If you're running on Intel, i suggest you use the IATKOS 1.0ir2 version. Can install kernel and do updates using Apple official combo update with just a little work.

Maybe you need Macdrive 7. This app will allows you to read/write Mac drives. I use it to read/write the Macdrive on my multiboot/multipartition PC, as Windows can't detect Mac drives by default.

Sound quality better than XP? Not for me...coz there's no driver for my X-FI and have to downgrade to onboard sound...LOL. At least it works.

ok, i don't see a need to use DVD-RAM. Why not just burn to a normal DVD+-R. One thing....burn at the slowest speed possible. I made dodgy Kalyway disc that install forever (maybe 3 hours) because i burnt at 8x speed or more. Can Apple stop Psystar from selling Mac clone?

I've a feeling Apple actually wanted the underground scene to flourish, so they get free promotion and people will actually start using Mac OSX. It's just like Windows letting their software being pirated knowingly by students and such and take no action so that these new generation of users will become their next corporate users. smile.gif

Yes, I would like get one too. However you should check out the hardware compatible list,

EFIX HCL

Recently I found out I bought the wrong motherboard for hackintosh, GA35-DS3. It should be  GA35-DS3R or GA35-DS3L  doh.gif
Another interesting fact, a malaysian dealer (don't know who) is negotiating to sell efix,

EFIX Where to buy

See the malaysia flag ? Funny no iphone 3G for malaysia but efix (hack product) for malaysia  blink.gif
*
Huh the GA35-DS3 doesn't work? It's the ICH9 chipset right?

Mine is the EP35-DS3, i think it's the same as GA35-DS3 except got the additional power saving thingy. It works great with vanilla and EFI emulation. I think that list is not complete. DS3 should work.

btw, just to update everyone, i've upgraded my GPU to ATI 4850 from Nvidia 7600GS previously. It still works but only basic VGA with single resolution (1024 x768) and no CI/QE nothing. No hacked drivers for this card available for the time being. Oh well, at least i can still surf and do other task with it (except watching DVDs).

There's no authorised dealer yet in Malaysia...maybe need to buy from Russia or Peru... nod.gif

Let's hope so...
Mine is same as yours EP35-DS3. Apparently the other boards DS3L, DS3R, DS3P is much more compatible in forums and listed at efi-x.com. Does your vanilla setup runs (screen saver, sleep and shutdown) OK  ?

I did Leopard retail install and hit troubles with SATA "Waiting for root device" error. I find out later some kext is not compatible with ICH9, copy the right ones from somewhere, seems to be working now. Have to do more test. May try vanilla kernel.

If you wonder why I bother with Leopard retail install is because I find Kalyway and possibly other distros have missing files. The original Leopard retail DVD DL is about 7GB. Minus Xcode 1GB that leaves about 6GB. Kalyway  total files size less then 4.7GB. Localization files, printer drivers and some files are missing. Take for example "Text To Speech", System Voice Alex is missing. Alex voice is much improvement over the other voices in Leopard, even Apple did not mention it. Yeah big deal some missing files but I want all the files, that's what big hard disk is for.

Also for those who want vanilla, you get all the vanilla kernel and drivers which other distro may have replaced or left out. You should try retail install, matrix.

=======

Apparently the Malaysian dealer is negotiating with EFI-X, so have to wait and see...
*
But i dun have retail disc wor...BT is very slow recently...somemore Retail Disc installation seems like loads of work...

Oh yeah, forgot to answer. The shutdown is pretty dodgy, sometimes can work, but mostly cannot. Dunno about screen saver and sleep though, haven't try it.

oh-oh...my new BENQ 22" LCD completely nuke my MAC OSX installation. It now keeps rebooting itself.

I understand you can press F8 at startup to manually set the video mode but how?

When it boots up, all i can set is the -v option, which is no use since it'll reboot very fast.

I read somewhere i can use ?video to check the video mode, but it's not responding to this command.

Do i need to enter -v -x -s (or something) to set this? I read somewhere b4, but can't find the info again!
