I rather choose linux or windows over OSX for HTPC purposes. More varieties and more codec options , its much more flexible
*
is it?
i thought linux driver support very less compared to osx
lastime i also interested with linux, but since i cant find suitable driver for my video card, i made a move to osx

Correction , more

Its just bit more cumbersome (or as I put it - very mafan ) to set it up. Linux has more drivers then X ! That's why you're seeing developers trying hard to port drivers based on *nix drivers to *nix. Even the famous HDA Patcher was actually derived from Linux ! Oh yeah since you love your hack - You should get at least an apple keyboard or some apple stuff tongue.gif (or at least the legit copy of OSX)

Draconian , need more details of your hack

Finally managed to fix my Intel 8255xx Ethernet kext. Phew , it took me a day to get it to work and finally I did it tongue.gif

lolzz.. lastime if i remember correctly, ive try the opensuse, ubuntu hardy heron & mandriva spring rc2 release
all dont have proper driver for my hd2900xt, the closed almost perfect were opensuse, but still got bug where it make my machine slower after adjusting the resolution.. hahaa

& yeahh i know the HDA patcher were ported from linux

fyi, i do use alu. apple keyboard with my HacPro & yeah i do have the Retail 10.5 Apple Macintosh DVD Install, bought 2nd early of this year icon_rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

i finally have my Mac Pro..clone of course  tongue.gif smile.gif up yestrerday

i'm using Leopard Original Retail DVD install using bootloader download from the forum.. i read and follow all the step carefully from insanelymac forum..of course hardware compatible list is most important.

my hardware list;
Gigabyte ep45-ud3r ( forum have all the ktext ready on this board  thumbup.gif )
Q9400
4GB hyper x ram
XFX 8800GT
Leopard Original Retail DVD (this is the soul)..i try use clone DVD but not working.

bios setting also very important using this trick, i stuck on this b cos not follow the step early,  and No IDE drive..only SATA make you less hassle,
this already save me some $$ to get the EFI-X dongle plan early.

so far the system run faster/smoother then my macbook pro..will install the design software tonite and c what happen.
+ point is it can update all software from apple update natively.
*
Hahaa.. laugh.gif Now, both of us owned HacPro, powaaful than the real Macpro tongue.gif
Also can update easily with official Apple update patches brows.gif

Chameleon 2.0 RC1 boot screens!! Fully customizable  thumbup.gif

Currently there is not that many themes around, but this are my personal favourites, ala bootcamp theme and efi-x look theme and of course not to forget the original chameleon theme.

Credits to these guys for the themes > Themes

Cheers!

It might help you to determine your hardware. In short, Gigabyte board with P35 chipset works best as it most recommend by the PROs out there smile.gif

This is a great news, if only apple were releasing update with new driver which support the newer GPUs such ATi 4000 series & NVidia 200 series, it would be more fun. i7 for OS X much overkill where normal dual or quad cores is enough to handle them. Been running mine for almost 6 month already, no prob etc as long all the hardware got driver. Damn, I really love this OS X much compare to my another machine which running vista x86 or x64.
Best part, I can surf every where w/out need worry with virus.. Wohoo..
Hail to hacintosh..
