And how do you find it?

The footwell is quite small compares to the Myvi G3 so are the throttle and brake. Wish it comes with the telescopic steering wheel for better adjustment of seating position.

Yea I think footwell is very shallow, other cars, your legs tend to be extended further deeper inside, letting you almost stretch it out with your feet rested on your heels.

Telescopic steering wheel, not in the next 5 years atleast hahaha. How tall are you btw.

Did you find your knees touching the base of the steering as well?

In hindsight, I think I would've gone with the low spec Yaris or the low spec city. The vibration from the engine and the rattling really annoy the hell out of me. This morning when parking my car at a carpool mate's house, I gently mounted a curb that was only 3-4cm high but on an incline, and the engine shook like crazy, rattling the dashboard, just to get over that tiny curb.
*
The Yaris does not come with telescopic steering wheel as well. Yeah, the steering wheel base touching my thigh for a taller person. City could be a better fit for the masses out there. SA said the vibrations will be more pronounced in later years.

did yall know that, all the components behind the dashboard are not covered from the footwell of the driver's side?

if you run your hand down the plastic cover below the steering, you'll be able to reach behind and touch some of these things in the image below.

Were you doing some work with the components there?

Nope, was just casually touching and feeling the areas around the driver side and then my hand slipped into nothingness when i reached below the steering wheel.

Then yesterday, out of curiosity, i decided to stick my phone up the area. Now im wondering what those brown marks are.

Not sure how i feel about having all of these exposed without a cover. Does feel like a budget move.
*
Those brown marks are rust at welding areas. Wonder what will happen a few years later with those rust? Hope Perodua will improve on its QC and QA.

Yea, i was thinking along those lines but didnt want to entertain that possibility.

Quite unfortunate that after all these years, Perodua hasn't really stepped up their game.
*
Guess sales too good for them wanting to improve further.

All you guys so desperate to get an ativa. I hope y'all would reconsider the low spec Yaris or city.

As someone who has 3.2k on the odometer since CNY, I am somewhat regretting my decision on choosing the Ativa.

The car has wayyyy too much rattling noises coming from the dashboard and the door panels. The suspension is so stiff and the floor has so little noise and vibration insulation materials that the whole car shakes.

The ACC and LKC is so poorly implemented and it's so uncomfortable to use. The headunit is garbage and doesn't even connect to my phone.

Seriously, this car is still so many generations behind a vios or city.
*
Read about the rattling issues and poor built quality. Guess DNGA platform doesn't help much also.

Ed209,
Can explain about the shortcomings of the ACC and LKA?

ACC is uncomfortable because once the car in front of you starts to pull away, the Ativa's ACC will use a 3k rpm acceleration to maintain the gap with the car in front.

Even if you have a speed variance of 5km/hr Vs your targeted cruising speed, the car will initiate a 3k rpm acceleration.

If your current speed is lower, then perhaps, it will accelerate at 2.5k rpm. Either way, the ACC will always prefer high engine speeds to accelerate rather than accelerating at a more gradual pace.

The LKA jsut loosens the steering up by a bit for no reason. Its very slight but enough for unintentional inputs. You're putting in very slight left turn to center the car, but because the steering is not as tight, you have to counter it with a right turn. In the end, you're just doing a left right left right left right in your own lane for no reason. You can avoid this by being more aware with your inputs, but it voids the purpose of the LKA as a driving aid then, when its really making it more difficult.

Thanks for the information.

I'm not sure if you have come across this already or not, but seems like there's a DIY method to fix the rattling noise from the dashboard. Taken from Ativa Club Malaysia fb group page.

Should have used proper screws to do the tightening instead of plastic clips which give way after a while. I could be wrong here.

I could not agree more
The saving on average 1ml / minute, is not that worth to diligently obeying to it
On spark plug we are using iridium correct?(i read or watch some where on YT), not that saves also as the price is triple the usual plug, and iridium on normal car can last to 100-150k km or more,, im not sure the interval for ativa plug, with this eco idle
my main worry is the starter

Plus side during my long drive notworthy.gif
One thing i forgot to mentioned is that the seating for driver side at least is very comfy, I’m a big size 172cm and 90kg, driving this car for more than 2 hour, really a pleasant drive compare to my CRV, after few hours my ass bone really sakit
*
Your CRV which generation? Isn't the CRV seats are wider and offer better thigh support?

*

What do you think of the lumbar support from the Ativa's seats? What's your experience?

CRV lumbar support is active, meaning can adjust, even tho can adjust,, still not to my liking,
Ativa seat still better with fixed lumbar support

Thanks for sharing about your long distance driving experience as one is unlikely discover this finding in a short test drive session.

After 2 weeks of driving my new Ativa, the infotainment area starts giving out rattling noises. If I hold the screen down, the noise is gone. Quite annoying.

I was planning to change to an Android screen anyways. Hope that will fix the noise issue.

Other than that, so far so good.

As for my height of 183cm, it is quite comfortable to drive as well.
*
With 183cm how do you find the seats and the seating positions? Think you can't sit at the rear without your head touching against the roof?

As for the front passenger and driver seat. Its quite comfortable for me. Lots of leg and head room.

But as for the back seat is a whole different story lol. Feel like the back is even much smaller than the Myvi.

I am mostly driving it so its okay.
*
Thanks for sharing. Do you find the leg room is quite tight might even be hitting your left knee against the middle console ?

Driving quite aggresive from Kota Bharu to Putrajaya. Took 4H30mins including petrol/toilet stop. Quite impresive with ativa performance. Upgrading suspension is a must for more solid driving high speed. It was very early morning with super less trafic. Normal drive took atleast 6H

How fast did you go ? Single driver ?

drive for more than 1200 km over the CNY weekend,, my car only 1 month old, clocking 3500km already  smile.gif

on Monday drove almost 12 hours with few hours stop in between (8am - 8pm),,
only after 4 hours of driving my butt bone sakit whereas in my CRV its start to hurt after 2 hours

Few things I realized
1. When we walk near the car with smart key, light in car boot will lit up
2. You can drive apprx another 20km after the fuel gauge indicator all zero,, I dont know,, maybe more
3. There is indicator on your dash with coffee cup asking you to take a break after 2 hours or so driving
*
Thanks for sharing your experience especially the seats on both cars.

I believe this one bit subjective

Personally.. overall I’m already adapt to it. Just ativa seat may not be my preference as it not hugging me enough šŸ˜…

Well from coming 1.5 to 1.0T, you may feel underpowered

But you can try to play around with the PWR button
I constantly use that mode whenever overtaking or going uphill.

I mostly cruise around 110-130 on highway, it feel alright to me.. no wobbly or anything.
*
And, the seats are more comfortable than the 1.5T too?
