8 yrs Livina

CEL came back to haunt me again

3 years back CEL was on intermittently when starting the car, engine is running, no response whatsoever from throttling, send in TCEAS, mechanic told me it's throttle body, serviced it, and the problem went away.

This year, few months back, felt the car underpowered, send in to TCEAS again, change spark plug & air filter, serviced the throttle body, power is back, much better.

But since 2 weeks ago, felt the engine have minor stuttering when idle, normal drive no issue, last week CEL was on when starting engine, no response from throttling again, have to try on/off multiple times until CEL doesn't lit up.

Back to TCEAS again the next day, diagnostic failed to find anything, just help me reset the error code.  Mechanic also claim some connectors are loose and worn out, help me tightening them, and released the car doh.gif

and yet today, the same shit happened again doh.gif

Anyone of you encountered similar problems? hmm.gif
PS: Most of you will be questioning why the hell I use TCEAS for my old car, bcos my spouse works there, and have staff discount, and can screw them kau-kau if they screw up the service tongue.gif
*
I have the problem on under power too...
but after few months...it will back to normal

it comes n go, comes n go...

I did asked tces, but they said my car is ok.. rclxub.gif

what's the cost of overhaul? hmm.gif
I thought overhaul is usually recommended for engine > 10 years?

went to a few workshops over the weekend, mostly only know how to service the other 2 big Jap brand, Nissan is very rare doh.gif

Actually the cost of iridium spark plugs (4 pcs use for 100k km) not much different compare to the total cost of normal spark plugs used for 100k km, it just that 1 time pay RM200-300 make people feel costly where else for normal spark plugs pay around RM30-40 each time (but only use 10k-15k km).

Ya, iridium spark plug last longer typically around 100k km, also can feel car more powerful bit.
*
but I heard to replace livina spark plug is not easy

That part is call clock spring, usually the flat cable inside broken.
Original part very costly, previously i hear atleast RM500. OEM will cost ranging from RM50~400 (from online web)

Mine was repair changing the inside flat cable 7 months ago this year total RM220, 1 year warranty by the repairer workshop, so far still working well (touch wood....)

Good to know that  thumbsup.gif

At almost 190k km, I also just replaced both sides of the front lower arms for the first time. RM370 for the pair excluding labour.

Other parts replaced were front absorber, absorber mounting, absorber boot, stabilizer bush, suspension arm, etc. to eliminate the subtle sound during sharp turns.

Vibration sound from passenger side solved by replacing the air flow rubber gaskets.
*
i'm having the 'tak tak' sound when making a u turn,

it's the same problem as urs ???

No need change. Gearbox is costly to change just based on one instance. Frequent occurrence might be a symptom of problems ahead.

Changed gear oil filter before?

How old is your car?
*
I didn't know there's gear oil filter... doh.gif

my car is 7 years old

Only change gear oil or change gear oil + add in gearbox treatment?

Change gearbox will cost you a bomb.
*

To stop leaks on transmission, you may consider KW TransX...
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rdYwLUXyTTQ

Depending on severity, might be worth a shot.

Actually second hand transmission usually means refurbishing.  You can either refurbish your own transmission with longer time at workshop. Or ‘exchange’ your transmission with a refurbished one.

Not necessary to change atf filter. If change, make sure it is the original.

ok , thanks for the advice.. notworthy.gif
