Hey I just noticed that my Whatsapp Web shows "phone disconnected" every time when I locked my screen.

FYI, my laptop was connecting to Internet via cable and my phone was connected via mobile data.

This issue didn't occur when I was using my Note 8. Any idea how to solve this?
*
Did you enable power optimization for your whatsapp?

You'll have to turn that off.

Are you sure? Because Samsung msia sells other model of their Snapdragon phones here wor.

If there is a problem, then there is a problem. No point hiding it no matter how much you love Samsung.

For comparison sake, you are using a 5 year old phone against the current flagship. Not really the most appropriate comparison.

BTW, 'Other country people also no complaint' how did you come to this conclusion?

Comparing between my S21+ and Huawei nova 4e, both using umobile.
*
Can you check the signal strength dBm in the device status and compare with your Huawei?

Btw 4G and H+ too.

Anyone encounter lag while surfing forums on Chrome with s21u ?...need to close app open again only ok..encountered this many times..any fix?
*
Which forum in particular?

There was an issue with heavy ads in the Lowyat forums not long ago until it was blocked by the admins. You can try using Brave browser to see if you still have this issue as Brave does not load ads. If it still lags with Brave then it might be something else.

Lowyat forum itself..while scrolling down..will have juddering as if the screen refresh rate got problem...once kill the app and open again..then fine again..happened many times with Chrome
*
I had that issue a few weeks ago but not anymore. If you try to scroll down, see what ads are appearing on the website. Some ads cause problems for Chrome on mobile.

Refer to this thread for the issue: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5096129

I just got the lagging issue and sure enough the Hong Leong Bank ad is back. Managed to replicate the issue on a S9 and A50.

Anyone using AccuBattery? I am using on s21u but keep killed by something ... and this history data no longer accurate.

If you know how to solve it, let me know. Thanks.
*
Yes had that problem too. Go onto the app info > Battery and remove it from Optimise Battery Usage.

Too much handwash & sanitizing also affected the fingerprint scanner sensitivity. Dry out your hand faster. It can kill off some of the cells on your fingerprint.
*
Yes, you're correct that hand sanitizers do reduce the scanner sensitivity but it's not due to the sensitivity. It is actually due to the skin being too dry after using hand sanitizers. Also it doesn't kill off the cells or damage the skin apart from making it flake if used too often.

source?

I tried to find this for you, I've read it somewhere before but all I could find was a Huawei reference: https://consumer.huawei.com/latin/support/c.../en-us00414730/
It is not wrong but there is a better explained reason out there.

QUOTE(yayiyu99 @ Feb 18 2021, 01:55 PM)
You can google it. Based on my personal experience also everytime I apply hand sanitizer then  I will not able to unlock my phone with fingerprint scanner. Have to wait few minutes before you can use it back. Have to use passcode if im wearing facemask.
*
If you wash your hands or use some moisturizer it will fix the issue. You can spit on it too if you're in a hurry.

hi, is s21u worth the extra rm800 over the s21+ ? i'm considering to buy either one of the 2
*
Yes, it really is worth the extra RM 800. You're getting a better screen, much better cameras, S-Pen functionality, slightly better battery life and the sizes are so similar you won't feel a difference holding/using it compared to the S21+.

Your options should really be either the S21 or S21 Ultra only. The Plus feels like a redundant device that offers nothing much when compared with the S21 and S21 ultra.

At least now I feel I am not the odd one out to point out S21's flaw. Sometimes people compare only to previous version of Samsung but forgot a lot of us came from other phones as well. There are also lots of good points with Samsung which bros here point out or via reviews. So I will not contribute much on the pros. Just a few not mentioned, again small thing but I appreciate. Eg the always on screen feature when someone is reading the screen.... very useful for me when reading stuff. I am a slow reader so it is nice to not always have to move the screen to prevent time out. I believe only Sony has this feature apart from Samsung. Correct me if I am wrong.

Another 2 things I have to comment on S21 Ultra. Firstly the pic quality seems not as sharp and as good. Granted it could be lightning and person issue. I am hoping the new Feb update would improve it. My friend is saying maybe too many faces in that pic. Maybe other phones behave this way too given the situation.

I am on PC/laptop wechat what'sapp a lot. Sometimes the program will show disconnected status. This is I think due to Samsung not having internet on while your phone is not active and screen locked. Intermittent meaning not always. So sometimes wechat on PC the message arrive but phone will take a while. What's app will show disconnected. Huawei confirm no such issue. Maybe there's some optimization setting somewhere I can do on the app or the phone itself. But doing it will deplete battery further.
*
The Whatsapp disconnect thing is caused by the optimization settings for the battery.

Long press and hold your app icon > select Battery > Remove whatsapp from Optimise battery usage

This affects a lot of apps, not only Whatsapp. If you use Telegram/Wechat/Teams etc you can change this setting for them too.

not really for the spen
i never use an android for more than a year, average 3-6 months.
slightly better battery if i set at fhd+ for the ultra
similar size but heavier for the ultra
why i'm considering the plus and the ultra and not the vanila s21 is because the battery

what i see is rm800 for the zoom camera and qhd display. what else did i miss?
*
You pretty much summed it up.

The Ultra's screen is actually more power efficient than the S21+ as it has a VRR of 10 to 120 hz. If you're going to use it on FHD+, you'll see a much bigger battery improvement when compared to the S21+.

Then again, if cameras and stylus isn't something you need and you intend on using FHD+, there is no reason to consider the Ultra to begin with.

When the battery is the most important point, S21+ makes more sense.

No harm trying. Just submit using invoice provided by telco. You will know by 26th
*
It is stated in the T&C that it is for participating outlets only.

3. Participating Outlets

Samsung Experience Stores (“SES”), Samsung Authorised Retailers, Samsung Online Store, and Operator (collectively known as “Participating Outlets”)

Telco's are not part of participating outlets. Places like SES, HN, Courts and Sen Heng are part of the participating outlets.

Just saying that today I received an e-mail titled:

Your reward is on its way! | SAMSUNG Redemption Malaysia

Just shipped by DHL today. Don't know what it is though because I also did redeem some other stuff from Samsung. Hopefully, it's the Galaxy Fit.
*
Should be the Galaxy Fit2. I just received mine this morning with the same message you got.

Seen this tutorial somewhere before.

But let me ask this...Doesn’t it defeat the purpose of the Power Saving Mode?
*
Those steps were first used for the s20/note 20u. It's not something new.

The only benefit you get from that is the lower clocks of the CPU which some say limits how hot the phone becomes under load.

don know why i cannot do this
*
Try this step by step:

1. Go to Settings > Display > Motion Smoothness > Standard > Click Apply
2. Reopen the Motion Smoothness settings page again
3. Select Adaptive but don't press Apply
4. Slide down from the top to open the settings > find then press and hold Power Savings Mode
5. Turn on the power savings mode
6. This step is important. Don't mess this step up. Press the task switcher/back button/swipe back to go back to the Motion Smoothness settings again and press Apply.

For step 6, you have to go back directly to the motion smoothness page or it will reset itself and you can't click apply.

bro, can already

but in reality does it save battery?

thanks
*
Don't think so. I tried adaptive with and without power saver, the SOT I get is almost identical.

But if you turn on power saver without the adaptive refresh rate then yeah it does save a bit of battery. I get about an additional hour of SOT.

Edit: I should add since I don't play games, I don't think I'm pushing the CPU/GPU to the limit so the most power drain I am getting is from the screen itself. Thats probably why I don't notice any difference.

Yea.... Question ... How to test if "Power Saver Mode" really cut off the CPU hit max?
*
I guess you can enable GPU watch in the developers options.

Then play a heavy game with power saver on and off and see if your FPS is the same in the first 5 mins when the phone is at a cooled state. With power saver enabled, you should be seeing lower performance.

Are you using a VPN/Proxy/Custom DNS configured on the phone? I had this issue when I enabled Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 VPN and left it on permanently. Turning it off fixed my issue.

Also take a look at Settings > Accounts and Backup > Manage accounts > Any/All Google accounts here. Check each one and see if there are any sync errors or ongoing syncs.
