I worked in Yokohama battery factory in Semenyih back in 2010. Back then there are a lot of defects or return via warranty to factory. What do QC do? Put it recharge back and test and return as new.

Hopefully it all change nowadays.
*
the defect not necessary is physical damage, once the battry is unsold flat has to take back using the cycle Digatron charger to revive , outside charger at dealer or work shop cannot, the Factory charger has cycle amp setting charge and discharge control in time , also the machine taking feed back voltage vs ampere reference.

they will repack as another second grade model or brand to sell right ?

Oh my goodness. I am sure that will be the end for Yokohama for adopting such practices.

normal la bro either they will sell as second grade model or some other brand , one factory can manufacturing others brand too not necessary only one brand, last time thous Gaint, TESCO, or AEON own battery cheap brand also come from the same factory just the ingredient different.

the top model they will put in latest technology and extra plate, with extra charging program , of cause the final test program also different than others brand, no one open factory only want to do one brand one model, the also take OEM brand exp Amaron or century not all of them has own factory in the region and the battery are heavy goods transport are expansive , why not ask others local factory to OEM. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

I believe achieving economies of scale would be a problem because with the falling exchange-rate and the influx of sub-standard cheap imported batteries hurting sales, it would be very hard for good battery companies to remain here and still remain profitable. Plus good battery companies can never have any facility practicing such methods as mentioned by ayamxxx.

This thread is so good, learned so much.
Personally I believe that changing all your car lights to LED can really make a difference especially for old car & is cost effective & simple DIY.
I hv replaced all my 2005 Chevrolet Spark front, back & interior lights with cheap LEDS from Taobao 1688 Shopee.
Most have lasted 5-6 years counting.
I don't believe spending more money equals better, read reviews from other buyers.
Don't buy the strobe brake lights, don't last.
Also buy the RM 18 Baseus 2 USB charge Port cigarette lighter plug with Battery voltage display from Shopee.
You can compare the difference before & after LED conversion in the battery voltage when you turn the lights on.
I always buy the cheapest battery from a old ancient established car parts shop, I think it's Yuasa Wet Refillable. RM 150-160.
This year has lasted 2 going on 3 years but I just changed because paranoid.
Now the LED are generally very good but go for thick black or red PCBs. Also go for more small densely packed tiny LEDs with big heatsinks.
Confirm your cars bulb type online before buying & make sure the LED is not too long.
I'm going to implement what I learned here today which is insulation, so I will be wrapping a layer of silicone around the battery.
Using a silicone 75cm shower bath back scrubber from Shopee.
In my experience silicone is the most cost effective, durable, waterproof, & can stand extreme heat of a oven.
I hv been using silicone oven gloves for years, reliable.

My car battery giving sign to replace since yesterday.
Few time turn ignition no sounds, have to off and turn ignition again.

Just 1 week before warranty expired.
Is the warranty 1 To 1 or just replace another RMA unit?
Do I have to go back the shop I bought bor any shop will do?

My old Merc using one of these

Easy over 25 years can last
user posted image

Older than half of ktards

Panasonic also very good brand.

But I'm surprised at Amaron, affordable yet last long.its does die, but slowly looses its life, unlike other suddenly Kong.

There rest like top of the line Yokohama, Bosch S5, Varta, Century are not much different from mid spec whatever China brand

Depend on shop, some give trade in prorate based on the warranty.
If battery RM240 1 year warranty, if die on the 11 month. Only get discount trade in RM20.

I have used Century Marathoner , Panasonic mf , Bosch.
Panasonic one although is the lowest end for MF battery last the longest. I got 3 years 4 months of use in an Inspira 1.8MT.
Panasonic MF got 1 fill hole to top up battery water , although it is MF. I did top up once when the float indicator shows red.
Yokohama doesnt last very long. 2 1/2 years only.

Just want to say, any out of warranty battery, u can trade in for RM20.

If want confirmation, better ask the shop or customer service to find out what the warranty coverage.
