Intern is supposed to do it together with a full time staff and be the full time staff helper, but many staff will take the opportunity to bully intern and pass their work to intern. They think intern is stupid. Inexperienced certainly but not stupid.

Of course la people cabut after first day. They will think that salary not share with him, and ask him to do things that the boss asked full time staff to do. Don't need genius to figure it out.

If say good bye before leaving, boss ask why? What you want the intern to tell to the boss? That the company staff bully him? And break other people rice bowl? Or tell the boss he's incompetence cannot work so it goes into his report to his University? Leaving without saying anything sometimes is for the best especially if no one will notice.
