Yar, I was (and I wasnt the only one by far) pretty sure SEGA was pushing CA to release it, finished or not. There were so many "obvious" flaws with the system at release that I do not even believe CA by themselves would have release it in this state, seriously some really huge flaws.

Personally I WOULD play with my new machine since now I can really enjoy ultra graphics and very fast loading, but now I am back to beginning with recurrent CTD so well... I think I will take it back in few months when they really iron the creases

About the "secret thing coming" I think I got few ideas of what that could be and right now I would not be surprised for anything. On top of my head I could think of them:

- Announcing a paid "expansion" with "improved AI" and "multiplayer campain" which were both supposed to be fixed/added for free
- SEGA announcing that after X patches there will no more development of patches for ETW (they done this for MTW I think, 2 patches then "please buy the Xpac")

I know you might be under NDA so I won't ask anything, but just the fact to know you are under NDA gives me some clues of what that new thing could be (now this is a complicated sentence!) tongue.gif

@rickysay: I would agree but it's not totally fair to compare, MTW2 is now completely patched, with one xpac out and with lots and lots of huge mods into it. While ETA is "only" out for 4 months and they are not finished with it yet.

I read MTW2 at release was pretty much full of bugs as well so it's kind of toss up there

No its not as big as an expansion. But your guess of a paid DLC is correct. What they are going to put a price on is questionable. It is one of the reason why they a releasing the 'free' units(thats what I think lah). LOL I think I talked too much there. You might have got the idea.

Again I don't think it is an essential download.

PS : Don't worry core improvements to the game and multiplayer campaign will be free for everyone.

Please Please do not leak this info to other forums...Keep it to yourself.

hi frags, yea me too. glad that they are still improving the game. recently just get back to the game from the start and notice some major changes especially the financial side which now they increase the cost of maintaining the army (which i think a little bit too expensive). But the game become more playable, more fun. Hopefully there are no such thing as the ETW 2 by the end of the year tongue.gif

now in the new game, still as GB, i am struggling with the financial issue trying to maintain a sizable army 1 in north america, 1 in Europe and 1 in india.....any recommendation / experience that can share? notworthy.gif

No lah...ETW 2 I think we don't need to worry about that. My guess is a Napolean expansion is likely. Might even be a DLC like the Alexander campaign. This is my guess...I didn't hear this from anyone.

I'm playing the Dutch at the moment so management of troops is a bit easier since so little territory. You definitely cannot build a very large army now. Very easy to go red if you spam units. GB I think is in a bad position since eventually you will be at war with Spain. So it is rather hard to focus your military campaign on a single theatre(which would be ideal imho).

Maybe you should take the war to America. Don't keep sizable troop in Europe. France I think is preoccupied with other wars.

My mouth, I will keep it shut. wink.gif

Let's see what they bring, to be honest my "trust" into SEGA/CA took a huge hit with ETW so I am kinda ready for "anything" now

Seems the same to me. If you play GB then the turn obviously much longer.

PS : Next patch has more tweaks to naval invasion. Currently patch in beta testing now tongue.gif

And if I remember well they said they improved the speed of AI turn also in the next patch. I would not expect miracle but every little bit can help

Hi guys,

Today's slightly late update reveals another forthcoming free unit. The Prussian Garde Du Corp are a replacement for the Prussian standard Household cavalry. These heavy horse shock troops are best used to break enemy lines and overrun enemy positions. With a strong charge and fearsome attack, these riders make short work of those who would oppose a Prussian monarch.

Is that true that the only way to update the game is via Steam? There is no way that I can download from work and then apply the patch at home? Thanks.

Yes, it is Steam or nothing.

You "could" download using Steam from work and transfer using USB the whole Steam folder, but that would be quite troublesome

No, i meant between empire total war and medieval total war 2 in terms of gameplay which one is better?

I have not try empire, simply because i'm still playing medieval 2 total war and am enjoying it.

I don't kinda like when the game is set on. So what do i miss on empire?

Well frankly I think they are both different. Different battle styles. Medieval's battles were more about brutal melee. Empire obviously doesn't have shiny charging knights anymore. The whole decoupling of city upgrades across region tends to make it a wait and bait game rather than go in and kill them all game. The cost of war is greater in Empire so its more about measured movements.

Some people complain that this removes some of the cool visceral feeling you get watching a large group of knights charging. I like both but the control method using WASD in Empire is ways easier. So used to that now.

Why don't you just try the available demo on Steam. Keep in mind the demo is not optimised and an old version(as far as I know they have not updated it). One land battle and one naval battle. Plus tutorials.

Hi guys,

Today we introduce the Spanish Grenadiers. They are a replacement for the standard Spanish Grenadiers with a distinctive bearskin hat to mark them out as exemplary on the battlefield.

Hi guys,

Today's update features a forthcoming free Prussian unit. The Prussian life guards are equipped similarly to line infantrymen. However their uniforms are altogether more splendid, marking them out as a superior force, in arrogance if nothing else. They do a good job as garrison troops and are dedicated to the crown.

I was told that out of the box, the game is riddled with bugs.. How long do i have to update to bring it to the current level?

Thinking of getting the game from TSB.. but if it's full of bugs and have long updates, den i'm thinking twice..
