My suggestion for you is to hold the purchase of the game since the game currently is basically unplayable. maybe wait till the proper updates is available

funny, i had no encounter with any bugs tat really ruined my gameplay, except the part where u need to move soldiers into a port to chase out the enemy ships occupying it
in fact, i just completed great britain grand campaign 3 hours back, demolishing france, 13th colonies and half of india along the way.
had a general that died at the ripe old age of 90+, leading the charge across 3 continents

Just a question...have you ever been invaded? Has an enemy force ever landed on GB?

Yar, as GB you can just delete any army you have in the GB country as the AI will almost never carry troops by ships. Some people on forums did report that they saw sea invasion happening but it's really really really rare (I have see 2 such claims without screenshots so far).

Personally I never saw one and I reached half the long campain with GB, nobody attacked me there even though i left it totally undefended. I was also playing around in India and never saw any other Europea power carry troops there (even Portugal which has a colony there at the start)

Talk about something bumming for a game putting focus on sea battles and domination shakehead.gif

yeah, whole game, no1 even tried to bring any troops to my home islands
from the first turn, all my army in GB are already on the ship, heading towards the New World
maybe we can post this feedback, let creative assembly introduce it in some patch perhaps

IC...how odd...I must say CA OZ has done a remarkable job improving the AI's use of naval invasion and the unit pathfinding in sieges in M2TW(1.2) and Kingdoms.

I expect CA UK to do just that in future updates...I think its because it's a new engine and they really have so much to do considering the scope of the game...

Frankly the only bad thing I can find apart from the technical issues like some glitched water graphics in land battles and the load times(bearable now)...is actually the pathfinding in sieges...units getting stuck in walls etc...down right annoying...I think its partly has to due with unit cohesion...

anyway I'm confident these things will be improved...

As far as i can tell, the AI knows how to blockade your ports if you have them,
but yeah i never saw them ferry troops over other continents

Yar, they do pretty good job at blockading your ports or pirating your trade lines, at least something.

About the no-transport-of-troops-by-boat thinggy many people have reported it on the forums so I think CA is aware of it.

About the sieges it's indeed pretty stupid to defend because movings troops on the walls is just plainly frustrating.
I end up "defending" by lining up my troops in the courtyard and shooting at the ennemies that manage to crawl over the walls.... super realistic from that period's sieges right? biggrin.gif

On normal land battles I find the AI to be "honest", nothing too fancy but they do try to flank you with cavalry (and they sometimes do it pretty well), there is way less "suicidal generals" charging first etc. Some of my battles have been pretty intense especially if you are outnumbered.

I like sea battles but I find if you have more than 6-7 ships on your side it's kinda tough to handle them all properly (cant imagine how would a full stacked battle be)

Overall the game has really lots of potential (I repeat this because I do not want to have people think I am just bashing the game) but it was released like a month or two too early imo... I am also confident it all the defaults will be ironed out, either by mods or CA

Thats what makes it difficult to troubleshoot. I never had any crashes and the Quebec siege worked.

RTI worked fine for me without bugs or crashes too (the loading of Bunker Hill took super damn long for me but that's all)

But in the GC I am damn scared of doing anything with the Huron or Inuits as they are my main culprits of making the game crash during their turn.

I think with all the save games folks have uploaded to CA they should have plenty materials to find at least some common reason to all of them. I hope next week patch will fix a bunch of them, the rest can wait later for me.

If you notice, the loading for the scenario battles with scripted intro camera/speech is usually a lot longer than the GC or normal battle.

Yar, these battles are really long.

Now my new campain is also crashing to desktop (the "normal" whitescreen then windows shit)

I think I am just not going to touch ETW until they fixed that, it's just a steaming pile of bug right now for me... mad.gif
