I bought Kitchenaid heavy duty for RM2.1k only during 2011 haha.
i'll recommned u'd go for professional, but not artisan.
See, all the people who complain ktichenaid sucks cause artisan all this is mean for smaller batch of dough like 500-700g max. like above the people compare, Kenwood, if u compare consumer range to consumer range. maybe there's other's better.

How to calculate bread?

we always treat flour as our 100%.

example 500g flour, 300g water, 10g salt

100% flour
60% water
2% salt
(u get the idea, this is universal for all bakers)
*
yeah but wanted to know total weight in dough :/

bloody yanks keep saying stuff like dont over do the machine >2 loaves or 8 buns. niama what even measurement is that

professional is 7k adoiii

Other appliance as decor, stand mixer mainly must be functional and looks good.

Kenwood chef is ugly. Mine is kenwood k-mix. Looks aesthetically pleasing. If you don't mind the look, kenwood chef is much much better than artisan.
*
wouldnt say kenwood chef ugly la, but its not as aesthetic compared to kitchenaid

a real expensive decor lolol

Kenwood no longer bring kmix to Malaysia.

Not all chef is bad looking, some are really colorful.

If you want everlasting look, the chef titanium looks good. The bowl is damn shiny. Lol

Yeah. I noticed all the k-mix matching appliances no longer sold here. Probably people prefer their chef or otherwise kitchenaid.

I think its only 4 colour,

White, Matte grey, Black, and red

Thanks. I am looking for black to match my black & white kitchen.

Ugly is the straight to the point way to describe kenwood stand mixer laugh.gif

Yeah. Really expensive decor, but of course must be functional.

Yes there are several websites giving maintenance advice and selling spares. It has not needed much, changed the rubber feet, cleaning and greasing is all I can remember.

I make some bread dough with it, normally speciality bread like panettone and babka; I use a bread maker usually to make bread/pizza dough as it has the kneading and resting programme - 1.5 hours cycle.

Get a cheap one for cookies etc... For bread, no knead dough ftw. Can do higher hydration and bulk ferment for longer to develop better flavour.

Kenwood brand is for normal consumer la.

Kitchenaid after artisan is mean for commercial kitchen.
u need speed and motor power, and also scratch, water resistant.

I trust kitchenaid than any consumer brand
*
KW normal consumer aaa.... thus semua pakai KA is ARTISAN la, high end bespoked breads instapemes kot. Ambik gambar sengaja letak KA at the corner nk tunjuk, mcm bawa kereta stuck in traffic jem, tp sengaja show BMW emblem.

I'd buy KA, but for the price, my Chef XL (half price of KA Artisan, but 50% more capacity) pun jadi laaaa. HOWEVER....dem boring la the KW Chef punya deisn, my mother ~30Y punya KW exactly the same lool (and yeah, its still functioning).

QUOTE(madballs @ Jan 13 2021, 11:52 AM)
If u r not a heavy user, get kenwood as its cheaper and it can really last for a long time.

Kitchenaid is over price here.
*
In other parts of the world, pricing for KA roughly sama with KW, acceptance is mixed between the two, no one complaints much about the other, tp in Malaysia, when KA is super duper marked up, why bother with KA?

Which kitchenaid model you bought. My sister's artisan performed poorly when kneading bread. Which is the reason I bought kenwood instead (I bought mine after hers in 2013).
*
Kenwood suka intro new "design" and retire them after that, now its obsolete with no parts available, so once your K-Mix mati, then mati dah.
