I’m a chair Youtuber! Have a Herman Miller Aeron, and will be getting a Steelcase Leap! Most of my videos however as of now are about the Secretlab Titan 2022, and you can find them here:

https://youtu.be/Vb-RUckZCTc

Would appreciate feedback and look forward to learning more about ergonomics in days to come - if you enjoy the videos, I’d also be incredibly happy!

A chair is so important especially in these times and I’m shocked that there isn’t so much bigger or more organized of a community dedicated to it - have created a small Facebook group, in case anyone’s interested smile.gif

I saw the 6.1k but do we know if it’s fully loaded? Any idea on the caster as well? The information is a quite vague.

I might just take the plunge to start my own spree. 😍

Here’s my review of the fully loaded Aeron B! Legendary chair - you won’t regret picking up the Dot Com Throne 😎

Reason I say it’s fully loaded: There’s posturefit SL, adjustable arms, it’s a remastered. I could be wrong though!

Oh and… Bonus! Don’t know if you were reading the news yesterday, but guess who’s using an Aeron? 😅

If you want a headrest for that bad boy, I would also recommend hitting up the folks at Atlas Headrest, and they’ll be able to sort it out! Cushion is on preorder basis only though~

Where did you get yours from?
Won’t the headrest get stuck in the freaking custom? And you will have to pay crazy taxes for it.

Trax furniture! I’m still looking out for an affiliate partnership with these dudes (at least five people have bought Aerons after viewing my videos) but it ain’t happening yet - still gotta see what I can hustle up 😭

They just opened up for showroom viewings though!

Headrest this I don’t really know - I got one Suspension one already and it’s been my workhorse for the longest time (am waiting for cushion). I think it was about 800? They included a hundred something for the tax plus delivery I guess.

About two to three weeks? I can’t remember exactly but it wasn’t that long haha - I found it kind of necessary though, considering that I have been sitting (and continue to sit) in high-back secretlab chairs all this while. Transforms the experience of the chair!

Are you planning to get the Aeron and/or the headrest?

Planning to get the chair first. The chair took so long to deliver? If you order Trax, they are AD from local wor?
*
Eh no la, Aeron took about one week to deliver! Headrest is international so it took a bit longer. Depends also if they have stock la or if you want an indent order.

I’m waiting on a custom Embody, for example, also procured by Trax, that’s arriving in November 😳😳😳 Will be calling it the Liber Novus (after the Red Book by Carl Jung)!

If you want to customize your Aeron say add certain casters or whatever, just let Alexandra (TRAX PIC) know and she should be able to do it for you smile.gif

A low res artist visualization of the Liber Novus:

Hope you get that affiliate partnership, so can we get more discount  rclxms.gif

Yo!!! I do actually have a small Facebook group for ergonomic chairs in Malaysia/Singapore - would you be interested to join? Will probably coordinate group buy if anyone’s interested and as more people join then it should be a bit easier smile.gif

https://www.facebook.com/groups/976890436434037/

If it’s Steelcase I think they’re a bit more amenable at the moment (they sent someone to my house to do an ergonomic consulting because of one messed up part lol) - Trax is a bit more sombong temporarily; I actually also wrote a long email to Herman Miller asking them to extend their affiliates program to Malaysia and would jump at this in a heartbeat if it could happen xD

Buyer won’t get discounts la. Only he will get commissions. Lol.
*
You are correct that I would receive a commission!
I would use that to grow my channel (as I do now - may do a Secretlab chair giveaway soon!)

But it’s also true that you may be able to get a discount. If you coordinate a group buy, you do have more bargaining power with the company to get a lower rate for each individual chair. It’s like for example for corporate orders for Steelcase Leap, we can get each chair for much less than say the $1000 unit cost that the chair is sold at internationally because the procurement results in a higher total profit relative to selling individually.

Depends lah - some companies will just say that oh our product sells itself… but others appreciate the value of capturing consumer surplus and offer lower pricing when you do bulk orders. Win win situation, I’d think!

*
Yeah! It’s a collection of three partners with names E L and Y.
L came by to my house yesterday to help me remove the Steelcase Leap headrest, which I will maintain till the end of time is the worst headrest in the world but once removed gives rise to one of the finest chairs on the planet 😂

In case anyone’s interested to see what the inside of a Steelcase Leap looks like, it seriously looks like the chair has a face. PS: Join my ergonomic chair group!

Also, if you are interested, I am talking to a few people who might be interested to buy Steelcase chairs, so just let me know via DM if you’re interested and I may be able to get you a group rate (no promises though!)

You can also access Steelcase Malaysia’s online store (not Shopee - also allows you to make use of their FREE MERDEKA SHIPPING PROMOTION) here.

Honestly, buy at your own risks. Another forumer and I were discussing about the risks few days before. At the end of the day, I decided to go big or go home and bought from Authorised Dealer, because it’s confirmed NEW, AUTHENTIC and warranty is authentic.

True enough, I was unfortunate that the unit that I received was faulty within one hour I received it. and Trax sent a chair engineer/mechanic to come and check within a day. And got confirmation that they will swap me a new chair after that. Though I have to wait for the new chair to swap by the coming week as they don’t have manpower to deliver.

I am just so glad that I decided to go for the original despite the higher prices. Because imagine if it’s not a AD, I don’t think they will do a swap and probably just keep blaming that you damage it on your own, so they cannot do anything or wait for weeks for them to get their parts or etc. The warranty claim will be so difficult to deal with.

AD has a reputation to care for, because if you make enough complaints to Herman Miller, they could lose their rights to be the AD too.
Edit: I did however book a Atlas Headrest from the Boan seller as Trax doesn’t bring in I think. I did ask but they said to order ourselves or something like that. Now waiting for the chair swap and headrest to arrive. Haha!

Did you remove the adjustable lumbar support too? I found the chair to be more comfortable after removing it. thumbup.gif
*
Oh no I didn’t! You don’t like the adjustable lumbar support? I find that to be one of the hugest selling points of the chair tbh xD The headrest no way that thing is a disaster… Got us a few laughs and was an interesting networking opportunity though!

Honestly my Steelcase purchase was unique all the way through - bought the thing, GDEX stole the chair that was supposed to be shipped to me (or lost it along the way) despite the fact that I paid close to 200 in shipping (which shows you just how valuable the free shipping promo is), and ELY actually sent me a new one because I put on my angry customer face and demanded that they send by the date itself, so they basically sucked it up and sent one via Lalamove, then came the headrest issue.

I’m probably their most problematic customer to date, so if ever you want to talk to any of the ELY people, you can ask them about my strange tale and they’ll know what’s up 👌

Did you manage to try out the chair?

I finally got my exchange and everything is working out so far. But I do think that getting a headrest will definitely make the overall experience much more pleasant and comfortable.
*
It’s worthwhile to note that Herman Miller’s guidance about the Aeron not having a headrest or not needing one does have some basis - sacral support does lead to a stabilized spine and also to a situation whereby, if you are sitting up straight with a neutral or ergonomic position, your head will simply balance on top of your shoulders.

There isn’t really a use case when say, you are upright and looking at your computer where say, you’d throw your head back if say you’re using it as a work chair.

That said, it can also be said that they just didn’t wanna provide one - The Atlas will definitely improve your experience when you recline! It is very very comfortable.

(Though I might still recommend Secretlab if your preference is for say, going all the way down on recline or lying down on your chair haha)

Steelcase Leap Group Buy

Hi! Yesterday a few people messaged me to ask about a group buy for the Steelcase Leap from ELY.

I’m trying to coordinate a bit, and we’ve got two people so far who would like to buy when the Leap comes back into stock. Good chance that you can get the unit price to go from 3500 to a lower price (subject to negotiation) if there are enough people buying smile.gif

If you’d like to join the group buy, do join this group and post within - the group is growing (82 members and counting), and that does also open up possibilities if you want to coordinate group buy for other chairs later on your own initiative.

Thanks!

Hi i am interested but do not have FB.

however i find the RM3,500 not too appealing. right now they are selling RM37xx. Without Headrest around Rm32xx.00

hopefully can buy at RM5,000 for 2.

Sure dude! I will PM you and add you to the list! If you have FB, would you mind joining the group as well so I can tag you easily?

If anyone else wants to, you can also join the group and put your name in in the post that I’ve created dedicated to this. We have about seven people who have indicated interest so far (this is not a commitment); as I’ve told some of the group, the earliest we can probably conclude this is within two weeks if there’s say a minimum baseline number of orders placed as a group before a satisfactory price is reached - perhaps four weeks if people do die die want to try the chair and also want to go to the showroom @ ELY to do it but less if there’s an acceptable baseline and we get more clarity on the quantum that we need for a good discount smile.gif

Finally decided to order Steelcase Leap after some unpleasant surprises  sweat.gif  cry.gif
While many have had good experience with ZenPro / ELY, mine was completely opposite, their business ethics is in question as misleading info was provided to deceive me.
For info sharing and awareness, there is another authorized dealer/agent in MY. https://www.steelcase.com/countries/malaysia/
12 years warranty is a long time, and I want to have peace of mind and get it from a company I can trust and rely on.
Initially I was quoted 3.4k for Leap without headrest, but manage to nego down little bit, I am looking forward to be receiving it by coming Friday.  brows.gif

Can share some stories about it?
Steelcase Leap & Gesture is my final consideration, i'm currently asking ZenPro how much is it to have 3D Knit material for upholstery while the rest are default. I'm not aware there are other companies that i can inquire pricing about.

Your comments made me think i should check for alternative prices. Can you share to me who you end up purchasing with?
*
Sorry to answer on your behalf, Leon! He did Ebibca. The reason that he did Ebibca was that ELY claimed that it was the sole distributor of Steelcase Chairs in Malaysia, but revelations later surfaced that Ebibca was another distributor of these chairs, which ELY later maintained was an agent selling these chairs and that I demonstrated that, if ELY is claiming to be the exclusive seller of Steelcase chairs in Malaysia, logically falsifies that claim though it may not do so if ELY is simply claiming to be the exclusive *distributor*.

Anyway, on the basis of ethical considerations and his personal feeling, Leon then decided to conclude with Ebibca instead, which is an entirely fair and valid decision to make, and that some of you may share.

Anyway, we’re also approaching Ebibca now in the discussion about the group buy.

If you do want a chair now from ELY, I can get you a RM100 discount on the purchase (Leap or Gesture) or RM50 (Think or Series2); we are also discussing tiered pricing with ELY at the moment, though that discussion is in progress.

Our longer term target is a group buy corporate rate, which seems only possible with 50 buyers and above (we currently have 8 people in our group chat, which began last week) though as we explore options with Ebibca and I continue to discuss with ELY management, there may be a chance that you can get a more favorable rate smile.gif

Feel free to join our group buy chat (link in the Facebook group down below; we now have 100 members) for our Malaysia-Singapore ergonomic chairs group.

when i click on "Find a Dealer" at https://www.steelcase.com/asia-en/ i can only see ZenPro as Authorized Dealer, EBIBCA is not in it.

So is EBIBCA an authorized dealer or a reseller?
also, does EBIBCA serve customised order?
*
I can provide some insight onto this as I actually spoke with EBIBCA earlier, though I still don't exactly know the capital T truth.
In the course of an hour and a half call, EBIBCA mentioned to me that they're not *listed* as an "official" dealer and mentioned oversight on the part of the people who maintain the site but also declared that they are not after title/position and also mentioned they were selling Steelcase before ZenPro/ELY; ZenPro/ELY when I followed up on Leon's issue told me that EBIBCA is only an agent. EBIBCA in one of the most unique calls I've experienced on the planet explained that they are "not 100% under ZenPro" and frankly I'm still a bit lost here about exactly how they are related it is a complicated relationship, but am aware that they all do respond to their principal (Steelcase).

Broadly speaking, EBIBCA is meant to cover the North, and ELY is to cover the South, and they are at peace and in an equilibrium (are they?). You can try to figure out the truth if you want to become an investigative journalist, but for me I guess it'll be more of a... Oh if you find out by accident that's cool let's not ask any further type thing LOL.

I think indent order is possible, but takes a while and probably there won't be discounts - for Leap they do have black in stock with headrest; feel free to join the group chat here:

I think, we should stop this Ebibca and ELY discussion. To me it's not relevant and can get polarizing and basically he say, she say. facts of the matter is Ebibca and ELY are listed in Steelcase official website. https://www.steelcase.com/countries/malaysia/

Most important to us, is the price and support by each company. Once we buy from either one, we are covered by Steelcase(i hope..hahaha)
*
Haha fair! Honestly, ELY actually sent one of their partners (L from ELY) over to meet me and they've been wonderful as well. I have positive experiences with both companies, but it doesn't mean that I'll just straight away say both are wonderful they can do no wrong. All told though, I do agree that price and support by the company is the most important matter ^^

Hope more people join the group buy so there's the option of corporate rate! Or the quote unquote "youtuber rate" comes to pass LOL

Hi!

Just a small update on the Steelcase Leap group buy at a small risk of saying things that have already been said:

1) ELY has changed their website to allow discount codes and offered a small discount of RM100 on the Leap and RM50 on Think and Series2 if you guys check out via the ELY web store with the codes VR100LG and VR050TS when the chairs are available.

Group buy can be most meaningfully executed when there are more than 50 buyers, so please feel free to invite your friends to join the group if it’s something that you are interested in, or if you’d simply like to chat about ergonomics smile.gif

2) I spoke with EBIBCA further and Bryan has been an absolute wonder and a charm; he spoke well of Zenpro and has been quite explicit about not wanting to start a price war with ELY and also has mentioned that if that were the case, he would rather not do the business. After a long conversation with me, he later proposed a means of resolving the possibility of price war, which was to ask his principals at Steelcase to offer a lower (Youtuber) rate for a group procurement - I am unsure how viable this is, but we shall see; fingers crossed!

As part of full disclosure, I do want to mention that I receive a small commission as a result of your discounted purchase that will meaningfully help me grow my YouTube channel; thank you to those of you who have supported me, and I look forward to bringing you all valuable content in days ahead smile.gif
