I'm 173/75 need a good back support

I've been browsing around for an ergonomic chair for couple of months now and still can't decide which to get. I would love to be able to go out and try them, but not all are available for testing, and given the pandemic situation I'd rather not anyway. My budget is RM1k~2k (my back is really hurting lately, don't mind spending a bit to get a decent one but not Herman Miller kind of budget lar)

A few that I've been considering;
- Steelcase Leap V2 (highly recommended by many - but I'm not sure what's the price tag on this one?)
- Merryfair Wau (currently leaning towards this one... but still having doubts...)
- AM Office POFIT (not seriously considering this one though... don't like the looks...)
- ErgoChair 2 (so much hype on the net about this one, but apparently not that trustworthy?)

Would appreciate any more recommendations, or feedback on the above chairs please 

How do you like the ErgoPro so far?
I can tell Wau is quite 'plasticky' after only having seen user reviews on YouTube - which is why I still haven't decided. But I take it from your comment this is about the only bad thing about it, and I consider it minor issue as long as durability is not compromised. Leaning more and more towards this.

I wanted to share my chair testing experience with a local shop, they have 2 brands, their house brand and brand A*. The house brand feels OK during testing but nothing fancy, certainly not premium, warranty is just a few months, not sure can last how long. Then the brand A* chair back support is tiltable like most of them but the tension is too loose and don't feel solid, if I lock the back support movement then the lumbar support doesn't suite my back, worse then the house brand.

Maybe I consider buying a cushion to stack on my plastic chair first.

I saw in the store, Anggun has 2 options: High-back & mid-back

What's the difference? How do I know which one suits me as female? Can't go showroom

Once declared MCO 2.0 and there is no showroom to tested out hence got this model instead

so far I tested out

AM Office POFIT - feel good on initial testing but prefer Egrohuman but more pricey

WAU - tested out at Merryfair outlet at setapak area , dont really like it feel gimmicky

Egro Chair 2 - bought through Lazada - OEM rather than the autonomous brand but everything is exactly the same .
So far I would say not too bad ... wasn't awesome as per said and only been 1 month usage cant comment on the build quality for long term use

PRO
- More option in term adjustment as compare to POFIT & Egrohuman suitable for various condition - working mode or netflix mode

Cons
- Lacking of leg raise a bit bummer - thinking of getting decent leg raise now
- A bit of squish sound on the arm rest - kinda fragile (thou a lot of youtube review on squish sound on the back of lumbar support I dont have such issue )
- So so headrest - felt like egrohuman headrest , personally prefer POFIT headrest

Robust polypropylene/nylon to be precise. I'm weighing in either Merryfair Saga or Merryfair Fulkrum (special request for the metal frame, also pricier).
The Fulkrum back height just 100mm shy compared to Ikea Markus. So to me that's still quite high. With the adjustability being a plus. Wiht the aluminum frame being somewhat an assurance for me.

The Saga looks a lot like my Haworth Look chair. This is a neutral position type seating, the thick budrest and backrest version meant to keep you comfortable while maintaining neutral posture. So you'll be less  prone to slouching. So anyone here got 1st hand experience with the Saga. Is the link between the mechanism to backrest made of metal or not?

At first considering Am Office high line product, like Pofit or Ergohuman, now they've upped the price which make me think twice/triple/more enough to cause me headache. Also heard some says the Pofit doesn't really feel that premium(considering the price) and gave the same user experience compared to other cheaper product. I know the Ergohuman is much better but the price just way out of my budget.

Other consideration is the Gtchair x7 vida( sounds about right). An ergo seater but a bit simpler than a full on  ergonomic chair.

P/s; not sure how to link videos, but the url address above shows a video guy seating on a Fulkrum. Well in his country its called Monarch Fulkrum. Just for good measure.  But im not sure how high the guy is.

Considering that we are now in PKP, restrictions and all that. IMO , at least the seller should have provided a video demo of their product, so potential buyers can at least gauge or imagine how it would be like, and make some better assumptions.

I'm not one to recline my seat all the time, i find it tiring somehow (when gaming) . But I do prefer a headrest when I'm seating straight. Kind of like a brief resting in between focusing on my work. So leg rest is not big deal for me. But if you have to have one, I would prefer a leg stool.

So Miyakochan, as you said, as you have 1sthand experience with Pofit. How you like it so far? can i get somewhat a brief review of it? Would recommend it for someone who is big in frame (not obese) with 6 foot tall?

I've spoken to a few other owners as well but so far all I hear is good reviews, I guess the negative reviews are mostly from the non-users themselves, will give it a serious consideration.

No, you are totally right, I have locked into this but still hesitant to pull the trigger as the colour that I want need to pre-order, and may take 2-3 months before its available.

The reviews on reddits from US customers are mostly complaining on the build quality + customer service, which to be honest, could be the issue as SecretLab ships from SG? I'm not very sure on this.

I've also watched a shit ton of youtube reviews from channels with less than 300 subscribers, and they don't even have affiliate links, and surprisingly most of their 3-months 6-months reviews are mostly positives, except for the negatives mentioned in reddit (slow CS response, bad quality control etc.) - Not sure how legit these small youtube channels are, but surely SecretLab won't go the way to sponsor them?

I've narrowed down my list from Autonomous, IKEA, Steelcase, and secretlab.

Many bad reviews on autonomous, and I tried IKEA Marcus and Milberger myself, wanna move on to something better (or pricier  )

Have not contacted Steelcase malaysia supplier yet, so more research to be done on their price.

SecretLab is the only one in my mind with the most information (and contradicting ones too!)

Weird, last time had a convo with Am Office rep, said that Pofit got a new version launching this month. Now their Shopee page all sold out.

i customized a steelcase series II late last year (got them before new year) for ~1.8k, with everything, i.e. 4D adjustable arm rest, adjustable seat depth, live mesh back, head rest and hard floor castor (this thing rolls on smooooooth)
doesnt looks as exciting as the so called gaming chairs but it's very comfortable, the way the armrest is built onto chair allows you to sit cross legged if that's your kind of thing
best of all it's made in puchong, so buy malaysian first

the only down side so far with the series II is that the backrest doesnt lock reclined, it locks only on the straight position, but the quick set (uses a ratchet instead of the old school twist) weight activated reclination is #velinai
and the seat's fabric is abit on the rough side, so if you're wearing shorts, it wont feel as luxurious as softer cloth
another cons is the headrest isnt adjustable, but it's not intrusive so it wont eat into your 'headspace' if you're sitting straight

compared to the likes of :

contessa II
contessa II has a very very comfortable seat cushion, the multi density cushion really does alleviate the pressure off your ass
lumbar support works better on slimmer frames (because it narrows the back seat width instead of using some sort of contraption for support), ive not tried the one with the extra lumbar support
but it feels very supportive as it promotes the back to be in the natural curve and fits be quite well (171cm/66kg frame)
there's option to spec mesh seat cushion at no cost, which is nice if that's what you want
very stylish
this is quite costly though at 6k+
steelcase think
series II feels quite similar to think, but think's lumbar support mechanism is looser so the thing can goes off position after sometime and you'll need to put it up again

i bought the marcus after first MCO1.0 out of desperation, sold to another forumer early this year
the chair is meant for taller frame so if you're a tiny asian the build will overwhelm you and your feet will be left dangling because it can only go down so much
lumbar support is quite low, so it's not really useful, i put a lumbar support pillow bought from muji over it (https://www.muji.com/sg/products/cmdty/detail/4550002564025)
the arm rest is low so may not be that useful and the structure limits your movement on the chair so you cant sit kangkang

the only thing adjustable is the height  and the weight activated reclination is a bonus
but overall it's solidly built and the fabric feels nice on skin, and i've not had any backache sitting on it for > 10 hours in a day, which is cool
AM office ergohuman
on first glance it looks comfortable, but sitting on it for 10mins the lower part of the lumbar support frame starts digging into my back, also the front seat frame also puts pressure on the lower thigh part, so that's a big no no.

herman miller sayl
looks damn good with the striking colours and unique backrest design with decent lumbar support, seat depth and arm rest adjustments
the backrest design allows movement in the shoulder while maintaining support which is great if you tend to sit on it for a looooong time
it's very decent consider that this is considered an entry level HM
cons: no head rest, with all the bells and whistles i think it's close to 5k
herman miller aeron v2
to me it feels slightly more comfortable than contessa II due to the updated lumbar design which feels just right, very solidly built with 12 years warranty, lots of adjustments here and there
get the right size and i think i wont look back
not to mention the classic aeron look makes it the perfect background in any setup
cons: miskin V2 is 7.2k, V1 4.8k, find it hard to justify the V2, maybe in the near future i'll fork out for the new old stock V1 and give my wife the series II
herman miller cosm highback
the way this chair is built cradles you like you're in a hammock, so it's very relaxing to sit on, too bad it doesnt come with an adjustable lumbar and the 'leaf' armrest is more looks than functional
cons: miskin also the high back leaf armrest version is 9.9k

Finally got receive my chair. I'm 5ft 6" and this suits me better. Definitely liking it more than the Ikea JÄRVFJÄLLET.

Merryfair is good. Been using Velo model since 2014. Not sure whether it's still in production. The leg and wheel are still solid. Mesh and cushioning are still intact. Quality chair.

Too bad this brand is not well exposed to the market. Not many people know them I guess.

Where did you go to try the HM Aeron ver 1?  I went to Trax in Bangsar and all they had for sale were rhe Aeron Remastered (v2).  I would definitely be interested in that 4.8k Aeron classic.  Even new old stock would be a great value.  The prices we get here in KL are crazy.  Singapore's got so many Aerons available, both new and second hand, and the pricing is so much better :-(

Its simply due to these companies focus on being the OEM and do bulk business either for local or export markets.

They would probably prefer their OEM partners/resellers to focus on the consumer end as it involves less CAPEX and profit margin may not be pleasing since there's no 'guaranteed' monthly sales.

Its good that these companies do adept to the market change and is smart enough to take advantage of the Covid-19 WFH / restricted movement. They still don't pay top dollar for online marketing as the volume is not significantly huge, its mainly passive marketing. However, if you do enough online window shopping, Google/Facebook will eventually lead you towards a few brands like Alterseat, Bristol, Merryfair, etc.
