QUOTE(CompMac @ Aug 21 2007, 02:31 PM) Actually there is a big difference between 12-bit and 14-bit processing. 14-bit data processing has 4 times the information than 12-bit data processing. I think so (2^14) / (2^12) = 2^2 = 4Correct me if I'm wrong. However, difference to our eyes is significant or not .... is different issue. QUOTE(*daniel* @ Aug 21 2007, 03:35 PM) I think so (2^14) / (2^12) = 2^2 = 4 Your calculation is correct but your assumption is wrong. There is a huge difference when it comes to photo processing with that 2 extra bits. You'll get higher dynamic range and better noise control just to say the least.Correct me if I'm wrong. However, difference to our eyes is significant or not .... is different issue. If you think that there is no difference to the eyes, then you don't need a dSLR, right? Might as well just stick to camera phones since they use maybe 8-bits processing only and won't be different with 12-bits, right? |

ya the extra 2 bit will give 4 times more colour rending. but we hardly see the difference. maybe useful in medium format.
same thing here. do you always notice the difference of a 5ms lcd and 2ms lcd? This post has been edited by ageell2004: Aug 22 2007, 07:35 AM |

QUOTE(CompMac @ Aug 20 2007, 07:13 PM) I also saw my friend's wedding photographer using 5D to shoot. He's lucky to get such a pro user. Some charge damn high but only use 400D or D70s. |

However, difference to our eyes is significant or not .... is different issue. try looking at a photograph taken using the digital back (16 bits) blind wan also can tell the difference! its like a normal tv vs HD 1080 |

QUOTE(turbovtec @ Aug 22 2007, 07:32 PM) i thinks the price of wedding photography should not be derive fully on the gear. should be more to the photographer experience in wedding...how to compose, pose, candid, etc. the price is being paid for the quality, experience that the photographer had achieve not what gear is he/she is using.. Well, I've seen the quality too. Of course it is worth the money he paid. What I'm comparing is price wise to be the same, you might not get such photographers who invest that much into their equipment. I've seen people paying RM8k for a package and get a photo shoot using a 400D. Which would you prefer? 5D or 400D?QUOTE(yewkhuay @ Aug 22 2007, 07:52 PM) I think it's just a metaphor. |

There will be always new model coming up. Just choose one that fit you now and some room for extension. |

@robert
What vincent said is very true. Get one camera that suit you for the moment. The longer you wait the more models will be coming out. So when will you get your cam then? |
