Hi, I'm looking for some recommendation for 205/45/R17 Tyre. Not looking for super performance. Main criteria I'm looking for is low noise level followed by comfort. Reliable aqua planning will be added bonus.

Have tried looking at some major brand but hard to find any standardize spec sheet for comparison.

You can try Michelin Primacy 4. A lot of good reviews about this donut

Primacy 4 doesn't have that size, only PS4.
Try Goodyear F1 Sport or Continental MC6.

As mention by 6UE5T, P4 doesn't have my size, I've heard people still prefer P3 over p4, any truth to that?

Thanks for the recommendation, will definitely check out both of them. I've gotten a recommendation to take a look at Toyo new CR1. The reason behind it is that it's a new release and might have better design and tech compare to older model. My concern will be the performance as it's the entry model for Toyo. Would like to seek some opinion and 2 cent on this compare to the 2 recommendation.

Not much data or review in regard to the performance of CR1. Best to stick with tried and trusted options as 6UE5T had suggested.

My car have been using stock size tyres similar to yours, 205/45r17. Changed from Contisportcontact 5 to Continental MC6 in Sept 2019 and to Goodyear Eagle F1 sport in Sept 2020. Reason for the change from MC6 to Eagle F1 sport is due to a sidewall bulge in one of the tyre, likely bad road surface and potholes. In summary, I would rate the tyres in the following order (better to worst):
Handling in general - MC6 > CSC5 > EF1S
Comfort - EF1S > MC6 > CSC5
Noise at <80km/h - EF1S > MC6 > CSC5
Noise at >80km/h - EF1S = MC6 > CSC5
Rolling resistance - EF1S > MC6 = CSC5

I can't comment much on braking, as I havent done any E-brake. But felt EF1S need to start braking slightly earlier, compared to MC6/CSC5. Braking confident is slightly better in MC6.

Immediate feel of the tyre is that EF1S is a lot more comfortable (felt rounded when run over uneven surface) and less noisy at low speed. I will give MC6 the edge for confidence at higher speed cornering. Also, I notice the fuel consumption has been alot lower on the EF1S (12 to 14km/L) compared to MC6 (9 to 10 km/L).

Cheers.

CR1 is touring comfort tire, F1S and MC6 are entry level UHP. For Toyo, it's the TR1 model which is same category as F1S and MC6. F1S is new model also, just recently launched. I think those should be better performance than CR1.

EU label data says CR1 is worse than NE03... worse fc...worse wet braking... worse noise...

I have used NE03... thread pattern is performance bias, but soft sidewall is comfort bias... I've thrown the car around n quite happy with it except for body roll n feel... CR1 is all comfort

I'm a corner hard no braking kind of guy so I won't touch CR1... but there are a lot more worse tyre than CR1, so normal city driving at sensible speed probably be ok

Thanks for all the insightful feedback.
My first tyre change was a nightmare as I randomly just go for the cheapest thing on hand. Learned my lesson after feeling the effect it had on the driving experience.
Will check out both EF1S and MC6 both should be better than the stock Conti SC5 which i'm quite satisfied with.
Thanks to all the contributer of this thread, much appreciate the guidance

Thanks for the detailed comparison.
Not much info can be found for F1 Sport at the moment.
Do you mind if I copy paste your review into the F1 Sport dedicated thread? Or you can share your experience there - https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4999281

Currently im also considering NE03, next better choice, for my area

Becuz Blacklion BU66, GT Radial Champiro HPY , SX2, Giti Sport S1 cannot be found in my area

So you will be changing to NE03 again next round?

nah...just changed to 15" k435... k435 better handling but harsher ride and noisier

looking next for both 17" & 18"... might give ls588 uhp a try for the 17" as a touring tyre...wanna also check out rovelo & rydanz... 18" probably put mc6...waiting to see if efficientgrip performance 2 gets launched here this year

A evo/gti guy on YT recommended it but i avoid it after read this at tirereview, cuz the inconsistency and aquaplaning it writes, ymmv.

thanks. ls588 big lost to re003 in handling but otherwise quite close in other metrics... I'm interested to get it as a normal touring tyre only for comfort, low noise, rolling resistance... despite it uhp moniker

blacklion/sailun... gt radial/giti... from my readings on their top tyres, they lost to lansail in general, and they don't meet my priorities wink.gif anyways I'm still indecisive on ls588

as for rydanz & rovelo... never seen it in person so just wanna touch and feel for now.... there is also maxxis btw you can check out
