Hello, i just wanted to ask, is the KC3000 still regarded as a decent buy for PCIe 4.0 drives?

I need a 2TB NVME drive pronto, and i found one for 684 on Lazada (678.45 after vouchers and delivery).

I know i could get cheaper from overseas storefronts but i'd rather deal with local stores if possible for warranty purposes.

Just a followup post, the drive I ordered from Lazada (THUNDERMATCH) arrived today after only 2 days wait time.

Immediately put it to work using a couple of benchmarks like CrystalDiskMark 8 and ATTO.

Quite satisfied with the numbers even though they are slightly below stated maximums, and i do have this placed in the 2nd PCI 4.0 NVME slot in my system, the lanes are provided by the chipset and not directly from the CPU. (1st slot already occupied by an ADATA SX8200 Pro and i couldn't be arsed to swap the drives out since i'd have to remove the gigantic CPU cooler which is in the way.)

The next thing to do will be to move around 1.5TB worth of games onto the drive from a 8TB spinner i am emptying to make room for more media which should be a fun test of sustained writes to see if it throttles or not.

Cool mini review. Look forward to seeing if u experience any thermal throttling.  U using a heatsink on the drive?
*
Moving those games took around 2 hours and was ultimately limited by the 7200RPM spinner's read speed of around 200-250 MB/s (it is a 8TB Seagate Skyhawk AI CCTV drive that i repurposed for my desktop lol, it works well enough for what it is).

No heatsink except the provided thin low profile graphene/aluminum one, and it didn't throttle at all - it kept a relatively cool 48 C during entire period, but i guess that is mainly due to the low speed write operation during the copy process.

I'd probably have to do a large (like a 100 GB or more) sequential file nvme to nvme drive copy to get it throttle.

Still waiting for 4TB SATA/NVME SSD to fall below RM 1K, wake me up when they do.

We seldom get the direct impact of those cuts here in M'sia, and if they do, it's only on certain brands, e.g. Kingston (2TB KC3000/Fury Renegade only 600-700), Crucial.

WD and Samseng still cekik darah.

TRANSCEND 2.5" SSD230S SATA III 6GB/S INTERNAL SSD SOLID STATE DRIVE WITH 3D NAND FLASH - 4TB (TS4TSSD230S)  RM899.00

*Not many reviews out there but i saw some reddit or TPU comments saying it's TLC & Dram

And Teamgroup... like no official presence in MY ah? On Amazon ,  MP34  4TB PCIe 3.0 Nvme  TLC DRAM going below USD 200
*
Wow, this is too good to be true, there has to be some catch to this right lol.

It's TLC, and has DRAM for only 899?

TBW endurance is also decent at 2240 TBW for 4 TB.

EDIT:- One review on Amazon says it's basically the same internals as the Crucial MX500 4TB drive. Wow, makes me a bit more confident to buy now.

Just a heads up, for those interested the 4TB SATA SSD linked the other day, thanks to the 9 for 90 bonus promo on Lazada (part of the 7.7 sales) and using the Free Shipping Voucher, the effective price of the SSD is now just RM 817.90

You have to use the Lazada mobile app to get the bonus to apply properly.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/transcen...8012236229.html?

I just bought it myself, couldn't resist lol.

bit the bullet again. I've decided to trust samsung once more. simply because I can't forgive myself passing on this dirt cheap price for a 2TB PCIe4. guess I'll regret later.

That is cheap, but SGD? You ordering from SG or live in SG?

Cannot find that kinda price in MYR stores wei.

As a follow up to my previous post, I just received the Transcend 4TB SATA SSD drive after 2 days of shipping.
After hooking it up to my PC, it initialized just fine, and after a quick format, it registered 3.72 TB in Windows.

Crystaldisk Mark 8 Resuts:-

How many gb is the dram of this 4tb sata ssd230s?
The product sheet on Transcend's page does not mention the amount, only that it has DDR3 DRAM Cache.

Are you using it to run games or just to store games (copy games to nvme before playing) ?
*
Storage for large inactive games and also running smaller sized games from it.

I've a separate 2 TB KC3000 that i'm using to run those notoriously large and slow af to load open world games, and games with traversal stutter.
