if 500gb ssd and i partition it to 400gb and leave 100gb unused.
the lifespan & speed can maintain longer then full partition 500g or die faster due to limited range ?

that's why we buy ssds that have higher capacities than expected. we will do over-provisioning of 10 to 25%, or more, depending on what they are used for.

how to play OP:

if you are working backwards you can always create the spare area partition, format it to TRIM it, then delete the partition.
