Interested on the new M1 chipped MBP, price seemed lower than Intel's? Just wondering how the apps gonna be like. I'm heavy Chrome user, do I still get full Desktop Chrome or it's gonna be iOS version of Chrome?

so no reason to get Intel MBP anymore?

Not if you need to run Windows, either via Bootcamp or Parallel Desktop.

already sent in to apple for checking. but they said the problem is not covered under any free repair programme. i need to pay to fix the problem myself... sad.gif

Was that the issue with the display ribbon cable. I think I've heard about it some years back and it was common on MacBook during that year, unfortunately.

not sure. apple's solution is to change the display, need to pay for labour charge too...

it is not cheap either. becos my macbook pro battery is bloated. if want to repair the display, must change battery first else they won't carry out the work. therefore i buy a sgd220 dell 24" full HD monitor to use instead as the cost of repairing the display, is close to buying a new one already. i hardly bring out my macbook pro, so it is still not too bad.

SGD? Ouch...

Since you don't bring out often, meaning you don't open/close the lid much as well? It was called "flexgate" and the display ribbon cable failed prematurely. Macbook from 2016 to 2018, yours fall within these years.

And crappy that they don't replace it under manufacturer's defect. Did you try writing directly to Apple? I managed to replace my battery once out of warranty, at 26th month old. Apple has an "undisclosed battery warranty" for up to 3 years, if I'm not mistaken.

I am really tempted to move to the new M1s from my 2016 15s.

But waiting for the newer MBPs to see what's the future lies for the entire lineup.
*
Isn't this the already "newer" MBPs?

Cool stuff man! Enjoy the Mac! Once you get used to its shortkeys and trackpad, it's very difficult to go back πŸ˜‚
*
Trackpad is indeed great, but Mac OS shortcut keys are all over the place, lacked consistency like Windows'.

When will the transaction appear in credit card? β€œPreparing to ship” or β€œShipped”. Afraid can’t catch the 0% Ezy Pay Plus installment plan ending 31/12 by Maybank. 😟 Expected delivery date is 11-18 Jan

Still can change the credit card payment option as long as they haven’t charged me yet?
*
It has to be posting date. Your chance is slim. Should've just walk in to Apple reseller and customise one and let them charge you immediately.

Mine was charged to Maybank one day after it was delivered on 20th December.

Invoiced date was earlier than that, correct?

Realised the same prob. uninstall chrome and revert back to safari and edge as alternative  biggrin.gif
*
I think I can live with that. Unplugged since 12pm, I have 48% left now. Had a couple hours break to go for dinner.

Still miles better than my old MBP.

Oh, and I just realised, it power up from shutdown if I tap/press on trackpad. I realised even the any key could power it up. It's the standard behaviour since 2018 model.

8GB unified memory, is it sufficient? I'm currently a window user and want to move to MAC. So seeking your advise. Also went I add 16GB and hard disk to 1TB it almost same price with 2.0GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core Processor with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1TB Storage. So need some advise on choosing.
*
Firstly, identify what do you do on your current PC and find out if Apple M1 has same (or similar) software support.

QUOTE(raining again @ Jan 6 2021, 02:26 AM)
I think u need to do some research regarding the difference between Apple M1 and Intel chipset. Try to understand the core issues, why Apple are moving away from Intel . Both are very different system.

*
Wow.

I'm sure you have a more exhaustive list on picking a spouse? laugh.gif

Considered my self lucky (?), most of the app that I needed working in M1 (from Intel Mac). Now just wait for Google Drive sync app to support M1.

Hi guys, Im new in this sub forum.

Just received my new MacBook pro 16gb 1tb,

Its my first mac and I gotta say the Mac OS is far more refined than windows, I'm learning the kinks and tricks of this laptop, any tips for a new mac user here?
And finally I gotta say, its freaking fast! The first laptop that feels like using a phone lol, the user experience is intuitive and refined rclxm9.gif
*
1st, throw away that mouse.
2nd, try to live without right-click drag. It's difficult in Mac w/o a mouse (that's because of 1st)
3rd, live with the inconsistent shortcut key structure in Mac.

Other than these, I think everything is good.

The trackpad is phenomenal lol, I barely noticed the missing mouse haha
Maybe because it lands at KL first before DHL sorting shipments straight to JB.
*
Palm rejection is excellent too, with that trackpad being such a huge size.

Windows could never do that... Haven't experience Microsoft's own devices though. Their might be not bad.

Bad Experience: I don't know why, but the bluetooth (with non-Apple device) seems to be lacklustre and I am having serious headache using it with my Sony WH 1000x m3 headset and Logitech MX Master 3 mouse (both wireless device).
*
There's a BT fix with latest MacOS update. Go check it out.
