QUOTE(RiriRuruRara @ Feb 13 2024, 05:57 AM) Hi wta when you connect those device to you MacBook does your MacBook get really hot? If no can tell me what cable brand are your using? I don’t see any abnormal increase of temperature on my MBA when using the TB4 external storage. The device itself did get warm, but not on MBA. The cable comes along with the TB4 casing in my case, but u can always purchase it separately. I currently using a ugreen cable but it really make the MacBook very hot... So I stop using it, scared it spoil the laptop.. Shopee: https://shp.ee/2qs4lwf Lazada: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.iN9my RiriRuruRara liked this post

QUOTE(RiriRuruRara @ Feb 13 2024, 05:57 AM) Hi wta when you connect those device to you MacBook does your MacBook get really hot? If no can tell me what cable brand are your using? Hi, my guess here is your laptop is not plugged in to power input. You connected the external devices and its draining your laptop battery to function, hence promoting heat on your MBA.I currently using a ugreen cable but it really make the MacBook very hot... So I stop using it, scared it spoil the laptop.. I have my laptop plugged in with power input, effectively powering up the external drive with the power input, not from my labtop battery. Would you mind to test out on your side to confirm this? This post has been edited by eikozai: Mar 5 2024, 02:38 PM |

QUOTE(RiriRuruRara @ Mar 5 2024, 09:24 PM) Yup my usb hub device that i plug my monitor through it takes battery from laptop to work. What kind of device should I buy that does the opposite like yours? You try use the hub while having your laptop plugged in to power source (maintain plug-in even after 100% charged). That will reduce the battery loads, effectively reduce the heat build up from the discharge. I noticed this earlier today. The top left area where both the USB-C ports located, did heated up when my laptop disconnected from power source.![]() RiriRuruRara liked this post

QUOTE(firdausbhari @ Mar 14 2024, 12:19 PM) Theoretically, yes. However, it is said that lithium ion battery will have better lifespan with constant charge-discharge. Let's experiment with this and see how it goes until the last day I own it. This post has been edited by eikozai: Mar 14 2024, 12:47 PM xiaojohn liked this post

QUOTE(tehoice @ May 27 2024, 02:51 PM) Hi guys, normally for your MBA M1, how much of battery would it consume assuming you fully charged it at night say 10pm and put it to sleep until next morning? typically, battery drop of a couple of %? Are you connected to dock or dongle?Meanwhile, i replaced my battery, but the laptop just wouldn't be shut down completely, after I shut it down, it would auto turn on (you can hear the boot up sound). and then it will start consuming battery, can consume like 30% battery (with lid closed) in just a few hours. something not normal? anyone can share your experience? |

QUOTE(tehoice @ May 31 2024, 02:30 PM) I had this problem before. What I did was to format the entire laptop back to original factory condition. Reinstall all my necessary apps all over again. It did resolve the battery drainage issue and all the weird thing going on in the background. I done this because I was wondering if its some sort of trojan infested my Mac because I use some pirated apps. I bought original apps, or ditch some of the pirated one that I less or didn't use after that, and until today no draining or weird stuff happening. |

QUOTE(giggs_509 @ Mar 28 2025, 10:58 AM) Sucks. my 16GB can't handle heavy excel files with formulas in it smoothly nowadays. Even running scripts also will feel laggy, depend on how huge my raw data.If you use it for casual online surfing or streamings activities, 8GB would still be good though. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Oct 28 2025, 12:51 AM) Dunno what you guys do on your MBA M1 to feel you need more ram. Under no circumstances I need to pull out my MBP 16” M3 Agreed. I have been using my M1 MBA with 16GB RAM for heavy excels. Did feel a bit sluggish these days when churning out my data.I typically keep WhatsApp and browser with 10 tabs open. That’s all. Don’t see the need to upgrade the MBA M1 anytime soon. Haven’t seen Apple intelligence being of any use… if it is then will need more RAM for sure. But until then… Other than that, for casual usages, its still feels pretty solid. Thinking to get a MBP M5-Pro when its released next year. This machine served me well since late-2020, and still rocking everyday. |
