https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/

Quest 2 just got released last week.
anyone tried the Quest 2? how was it?

planning to get a VR headset someday.
a lot of models aside from Quest 2 but not sure which one to get.
any good recommendations? no specific budget.

Updated: Thread moved to hardware club. More relevant and convenient.

quest 2 is a standalone VR.. no need to connect to PC..

can connect to PC also if u want to play in better graphics

but need FB account..
*
ohh okay.
so it has its own game store then.

i mostly will be playing off on Steam, so will purchase the link cable also.
not sure why they sell this as a separate item.

i own quest 1
quest 2 more speed, high fps, lighter than quest 1 but cheaper than quest 1
but quest 1 use oled while quest 2 using LCD
u can play standalone or connect to PC (not potato PC) using oculus link n play vr game from steamVR

quest 1 price is 399USD while quest 2 price 299USD
*
thanks for the details.
quest 2 looks very promising indeed.
the oled vs lcd part, i never try oled/lcd for VR before.
i assume LCD looks better?

Where you buy from?

Amazon
$299.00 + $115.69 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to [/B]Malaysia Details

$299.00 + $40.23 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Singapore Details

Watch the video, the guy played Wireless, even went inside his car to test LOL. Link cable might not be necessary, you can purchase 3rd party cables for cheaper also.

Most reviews recommend the Elite Strap.
*
i'm at Malaysia.
i'm thinking of buying it off from Lazada vendor at first.
but it seems amazon one is a lot cheaper. what the heck!

^ VR related thread

Some of them imported from Amazon JP, seems cheaper that way.
I'd really wish Oculus would start selling directly in Msia
*
thanks! i will check it out
yeah, or at least to SG. that will be close enough

Ts i watched movies at bigpicture and it was awesome
Feels like watching at the cinema and the 3ds movie even better
But if you watch the stream from public host most of them are pixelated like watching 420p
*
awesome! man, really looking forward to getting it.
placed order, currently waiting restock

Thanks for the answer. Do you need to sideload any firmware to be able to play steam games like alyx?
*
QUOTE(akay877 @ Nov 15 2020, 09:38 PM)
Nah, No need sideloading for steam VR. You just need the oculus dekstop and steam vr running at the same time. Its pretty straight forward and easy to figure out.
*
do we still need to use the link cable for loading steam VR?

First time setup a cable link is required. Then you have the option for wireless pcvr using virtual dekstop (require 5ghz modem).
*
ok will look into it
thanks a lot

check my previous reply its about 299+34 usd which is about rm 1400 im not sure the government will charge me import taxes yet though but i dont wanna spend extra rm 1/4th of price from local retail

QUOTE(mooz @ Nov 23 2020, 12:20 PM)
How much did you pay for customs?
I just put in my order through Amazon as well and got the same price as you did.
*
if not wrong, however much you pay on amazon will be the final price (incl of import tax/customs/whatever fees). it was like that for my case.

Wanted. But wait till i got money in 10 more years
*

64 or 256gb recommended bro?
*
i got the 64gb one.

im fairly new to this VR thing, so this is sufficient for me.
i don't install much applications from the Oculus store.
and most of the time, im hooked up to my PC to play VR games from my Steam.

it depends on your preference.
but i definitely recommend the 64gb one as it is more than enough to play most of the good games from Oculus Quest Store

Need some info about the connectivity. My PC doesn't have USB-C. Can I still play PC games with the Quest 2 with USB-A 3.2 connection? I wanted to play flight simulator with it.
*
I'm currently using USB type C (connects to the headset) and USB 3.0 (connects to the PC).
Not sure about USB-A 3.2, it should work I think.

Similar to the above, if you have more questions, you may refer to the VR thread:
