Hello,

My mattress is 10+ years already. The middle part already sinking.

I have a rounded posture (upper back and lower back), not so great back strength (moping the floor too long can cause backache, driving 5 hours etc).

My body recently learned what is 'neutral spinal position' at the gym. It felt foreign as hell. Probably I am too used to being in a wrong body posture.

So, I thought changing the mattress is one of the few first steps among other things. But I know nothing about mattress materials that is good for good spinal health/position:

10" Synthetic Latex
https://shopee.com.my/*Factory-Promo*-Singl...8424.5242107438

10" Spring Matress
https://shopee.com.my/(Premium-Edition)-Dr....3158.1942044119

Got synthetic latex lah.....spring one....rebonded foam....memory foam rclxub.gif

No idea which one to go for.

B4 you decide on brands or types, visit a bedding expo and sleep on those displayed. Shortlist 3 and work from there.

Rather than having a perceived mind from opinion of others as I believe everyone body adjust differently to mattress while sleeping.

Once you shortlisted, tell us and we shall discuss.

TS my family has this issues in the past and we changed most of our mattress to coconut fibre, problem solved. we have better postures now(workout & stretches helps)
it does felt uncomfortable at first if you're not used to it but after a while you will love it. plus it helps to cool down your body temperature

Before anyone can recommend a mattress, we need to know how you sleep.

A back sleeper or side sleeper?

Each type of sleepers need different mattress firmness

i dont think you need to go to coconut fibre. they can be quite uncomfortable. i suggest buying a bed from one of the known brands that state it is for back-care. i bought a vono bed and its been great. it is harder in the middle of the bed than the top and bottom part so it gives support to your hips and comfort to your upper body and legs. the difference isnt obvious, you just feel supported properly.

if u want "best of both world" you can try getting a coconut fibre matress + a memory foam matress topper.

that way, you can have proper support while still have few level of comfort.

depending on your usage and the memory foam topper quality, it might not last too long (say 10 year) but this way, you can change just the topper as the coconut husk fibre mattress usually able to last very long..

+1 for coconut fibre mattress. You may feel it is a bit firm, but it does wonders for your back. Really makes a huge difference.

Thank you for the enormous input. I used all the info I got from you all to goreng the selesman at the gallary hahaha.

So far I've tried

Normal foam - cheopo soft. I think not good for the spine. Won't last long obviously.
Latex - Comfortable, soft, but did not 'force' my posutre to a correct one imo.
'High-density foam spring' - Quite expensive than the others. Comfortable like hotel one. For spine wise, hmm so-so i guess.
Coconut fibre - Wow..... hard like lying on the floor. I can see myself to get used to it, but at the moment....wow...dem hard hahaha. The pro is my spine is 'forced' to be on a correct position.
High density foam - This is best of both world. Stiff enough to make my spine into correct position, but not that hard like lying on the floor.

I think its either coconut fibre or high density foam. Both from the Mastercoil brand. Just need some time to rethink cool2.gif

*btw I am a 100% back sleeper.

you can get coconut fibre mastress with a thin layer of memory foam matress topper. that should provide enough support to you while not feeling "so hard"..

for me i use high density foam (for support) + memory foam topper(for comfort) coz lighter and easier to move it when do cleaning. reason being if buy those already mix layered mattress, the memory foam layer usually sink in a few years, end up need change whole mattress which is costly.

alternatively u can try latex topper on coconut fibre mattress depending on how you like it.

RM800 for King size is darn cheap. Compared to those branded latex easily go up to 5k-8k

Even non branded or not fully latex also atleast 1K isnt it? For eg Vono

Maybe you can ask @wktang his experience on how he solved back problem . Seems like his whole family have back prob and solved using coconut fibre mattress. @gogo2 & majority who replied also recommend coconut fibre, so can ask them their experience.

I maybe gonna buy both coconut fibre & high density foam. Whichever perform less will be dump to the guest room hahaha. So maybe I will try 2 weeks each & will tell you my feedback. Though I doubt my review will be helpful for you since you already spent 1k-4k and it isn't helping. These matress is nowhere near 1k hahaha

As an older person, normally we want medium firm - firm mattresses. Avoid the soft mattresses.

However it also depends on your mum's personal preference as well as how severe the curve is. 100% coconut fibre isn't really good if the curve is severe, so you may want to look at the hybrids. My friend has a hunch over, and he uses some pillows to help support.

If possible, maybe can buy one hybrid mattress and ask her to try? If it doesn't work then go for something firmer or softer.

One of my relative is sleeping on one for few years ... having good sleep every night after buying similar type bed.

Such design are oredi in the market ... just like normal normal bed design except is adjustable.

Visit any bedding expo.

I cant find the supplier link, hence just to show you the idea.

The rounded shoulders and hunch can be corrected by stretching and lengthening the muscles and the strengthen the muscles using elastic bands.
