stop studying medical, dental, pharmacy, engineering due to over supply.

Then what should the young people study now? IT?

Software engineering, business & finance or just start retail. Study not really useful now, start an online business. Just how many engineers change profession into selling insurance, grab, F&B. These healthcare workers are next.

QUOTE(kluseng @ Sep 22 2020, 03:54 PM)
The govt should build more public hospitals as we have no lack of doctors. Unfortunately the govt seems to think that private hospitals can share the load. As their fees go up every year they will reach a point where they are unaffordable to the middle class even with insurance. Then load sharing will be illusory. We may reach the situation in India where public hospitals are grossly inadequate and private hospitals are grossly unaffordable.

This will surely happen.

Perhaps he came over with a specialty (eg the MRCPsych) - the basic degree from a twinning program is not registrable according to the SMC website, but that will not come into play if one has a post graduate medical degree from a recognized college.

IMU twinning degrees were recognised in Singapore for both dental and medical until this year.
It's not easy these days and I know for a fact in Singapore they pay more for local graduates ~10k SGD for freshgrad dentists. Foreign dentists get about 5-8k. What about medical doctors?

patients pay in musang king and kopi luwak?
BMW should open 3S there too.

Err, you know this is serious /k or not?

Kopi luwak isn't even indigenous to malaysia. Kek.

When i say interior is the interior parts of sabah and sarawak. People these days seems to be focusing on KV region but there's a region out there who still lacks their pharmacist/doctor/dentist to people ratio.

its all because of bad policing and control of medical schools. Go study in a country that has better regulation and stay there. Even in Australia it's not easy anymore. Many have to go to rural areas. In aus you're looking at 80-120k per annum. After 30-40% tax your take home is probably bang average.

Malaysia is churning out 1000+ dentists a year like rabbits. Sadly the population is not growing at the same pace.

Are dentists akin to pilots? Not too complicated job, more hands on practical type so long day to day see the typical routines which is the case.

Good money, no office politic, no climbing stupid career ladder, no meetings, no bootlicking, no forced travel, no retrenchment, no overtimes, no taking work home, prestige

What Im proposing is reduce the uptake of doctors, dentist and pharmacist in our country... Stop pumping out these graduates because market demand isnt that great anymore. Allocate different talents to other field.

Dentists deals with patients' furry, meticulous, skimpy, nego, angry patients everyday. And risk to be sued for negligence or incompetence.. If you decide to open your own practise, there is alot to prepare bacause you are your own boss. Hiring dental assistants, equipments and inventory check.. Private dentists work normally 6days a week, minimum 9-6pm. It is not as carefree as a pilot, whose stress just need to focus on manning the plane, safely departing and arriving.

It is part of the economy cycle related to supply & demand. The supply & demand cycle is not stagnant & it is dynamic. Oversupply now doesn't it will over supply the next 5~10 years.

My personal opinion, just proceed to study what you are interested. After you enter the market, you just have to fight for the survival in the tough environment.
