Hi,

Looking to upgrade my FZ150i with another more powerful bikes as I'm commuting to work daily using non-highway, NARROW back road. The problem is always gets bullied by cars and modded rempit mopeds.

The mopeds I dont mind, but the cars always overtake and squeezing into my lane, despite following closely car in front. ranting.gif

I want to overtake, so I'm utilizing the rpm limit but without any significant acceleration sweat.gif . The road only has 1 lane for each direction, so its quite dangerous for slow bikes to overtake cars. sad.gif

Do you think 250cc makes a huge difference? or do i need to look into B full bikes like 650cc? Thanks sifu! notworthy.gif

faster than car? all bike faster theoretically.

for 250cc upgrade from 150cc ayam can say it medium upgrade.
you want "really" upgrade need to go minimum 650cc

disadvantage 650cc? higher insurance, higher maintenance cost as well as cost of license upgrade.

if can afford go with 650 cc if can. if not 250cc is fine.

fz150i is faster than average cars, but not fast enough tongue.gif

What I concern about 650cc bikes is filtering ability/ cilok between cars in narrow rural roads. hmm.gif

250cc is enough for overtake in my opinion. You can get those 1 cylinder 250 like ninja 250sl or ktm duke/rc 250 because those bike have higher torque then the 2 cylinder 250. High torque is more important than high hp or top speed in your case. Don't get those bigger bikes as they are heavier and harder to handle at smaller and curvy road

650cc is quite heavy bike (trust me, ayam drove MT06).
if you confident can handle larger motorcycle (like when bike jatuh, sharp cornering, sharp flicking) then can try.

cilok between cars (term is flicking) normally in MT06 is bottom heavy (heavy in betis/peha area due to upright posture) due to naked bike structure of MT06 model.
if ayam were you, go showroom and request to do test drive 1st for 650cc and 250cc model(normally need to surrender IC and phone for collateral).

just drove around few meter around showroom than you can know your level of handling/confident on big CC bike.
maybe new MT-25 is good enough for you (you may never know)

Immediate quick fix is couple of used metal panniers on your fz150 will solve the problem ;-)
Check g310r if you are looking for build quality

+1 for this... Even me myself riding 650, in your case I would suggest the same... Since mostly back roads, you don't need a bfull bikes... Just get a 250 will do... Single or dual cylinder also will do, but think single can let u enjoy more on the torque... Not sure about reliability, but Duke250 new model looks nice and meets your criteria...

Put superbike engine inside and shift gears at 14K rpm. Cars also lari la. Imagine an old Kancil with Hayabusa engine inside.

you meant in terms of technology or euro/gas restriction? supposed newer technology better power, or you could meant older non restricted engine more power. hmm.gif

haha... not sure what does B-full bike means. B full is the standard license which permits all kind of bikes. B2 is restricted license limited to 250cc and below. kind of like D can drive both auto and manual but DA only can drive auto.

anyways. i don't quite know what to make of your predicament. the FZ150 tops out at around 140kmh so there is plenty of poke left if you are travelling at 100kmh. there are not many small roads where people drive all that fast. furthermore if you are already up to speed with the car in front then its pretty unlikely for people to purposely squeeze in so I can't imagine the scenario you mentioned being all that common. but then again, what do I know right?

but i will say this, if i find myself stuck behind a car with another car following behind me, i would also prefer to overtake the car in front, so wanting a faster bike is justified.

so back to your specific question. a 250cc can comfortable get above 150kmh which is gonna be faster than most cars on our roads.
