I went from Sony to Premiere to Resolve. smile.gif

However Resolve won't be able to utilize GPU rendering unless it's the studio version, that one about RM 1.5k.

That being said, the GPU does help with other stuff.

Like say if you use 3D text, last time I was on GTX 1050 and it was no go. I upgraded to RX 470 and things turn out better.

Also last time I was using 16GB RAM and Davinci Resolve was pretty much a crash fest when things get heavy and / or additional software are running. Now running 32GB and it's no longer an issue.

Finally someone who transitioned biggrin.gif

Is it worthwhile in terms of workflow, speed and functionality?

Plus better performance for lesser pc rigs
First I have to start with a reference point, my videos are like this https://www.youtube.com/goldfries

Typically my videos use 2 - 3 tracks for visuals and audio. They're not complex type.

One thing I like most is that I no longer need to rely on Adobe CC. It's annoying that one has to keep logging in and limited to 2 machines and all.

Workflow and functionality - what I like about Davinci Resolve is that it's rich, editing of the color and sound can all be done in one software.

What it lacks is what Adobe has, like able to use with After Effects.

All in all I feel that Adobe is still the stronger one due to its ecosystem BUT for my purpose, Davinci Resolve works better.

But the subscription is really pita especially when times are rough
No Internet connection time how to use? smile.gif

I really hate being Adobe CC dependent.

1. Nvidia basically ignored adobe and pretty much ditched it. Resolve works so well and scale with rtx cards
Can you elaborate on this part?

Which part of Resolve you use that it actually makes use of RTX cards?

As for Adobe Premiere Pro, what I found is when I set Hardware Acceleration, even with a GTX 1650 it outperforms the Ryzen 7 3700X by far.

Apparently it can use tensor cores for ai, apart from the fact it is very well optimised for cuda cores. It has native and also nvidia for encoding and the master h265 has nvidia encoding only iinm, else is cpu encoding.
Also, another thing is from what I've seen so far is people say that it's only in the Studio version where you get to use GPU.

I haven't used the Studio version. sad.gif Not cheap.

I think it's good deal on the long run
My video workflow uses very little GPU.

If your work uses all this a lot, then definitely worth spending.
