There are a lot of face mask brand selling a along from no box with 10 piece at kedai runcit to DIY , speed99 , pharmacy , tesco/ecosave , mall and even online.

How to identify the mask really certified ? most on the web told to look at BFE but how real is the box of BFE ?


Any picture of current facemask brand you all bought from ? real or fake ? way to test and confirm ?
Do you all care ? on BFE or just buy some cheap industrial mask from DIY ?

Dont worry to much. If wear best mask must pair with bunny suit. But if wear same mask while going to work and returning home and for whole day same mask, nothing to worry.

I find medicos very soft and easy to use. It doesn't tend to slide down when I talk.
It has similar smell like the 3M N95 mask.

I bought the medicos white box before, very good and soft. Recently bought the new bluebox not as soft and breathable like before.

Was already wearing cotton rewashables BEFORE the outbreak. Owned ±15pcs of different colours, designs or makers.. Like clothes, I choose and wear according to my mood.. Recently, added another 6 KanShouZhe masks with KN95 filters for enhanced filtering/modding. Sorry, I'm not a throwable mask user, it pollutes environment and $ wasting.. But anyway, that's just me.

Medicos so far good but it's pricey compared to others

2 type of mask

- surgical/medical mask, have higher BFE >98%
- protection mask, have lower BFE but still high la >95%

brand (personally bought and use)

- surgical/medical mask - medicos, neutrovis
- protection mask - skin hygiene & etc

price

- surgical/medical mask - medicos (RM40+), neutrovis (RM20+)
- protection mask - skin hygiene (RM10+) & etc

is protection mask is enough? should we all use surgical/medical mask?

Surgical mask of WHATEVER brand can only protect that much.. Cheap or expensive type, its just can prevent /collect host's air droplets during that specific amount of time. IF any SUDDEN situations like fire/haze/major outbreak or anything smiliarily dangerous, while not having ANY respirator grade type mask on hands, one better PRAY HARDER that surgical mask can even help protect.

CROSS PROTECTION

ooo, last time when face mask is compulsory i went there and find. mostly all sold out or very exp. now i see those got stock 1 also close to RM50.

When in doubt, just take a SIMPLE test.. If wearing a whatever mask/respirator and one can still SMELL car parfume in a car OR toilet freshner fragrance/ammonia in a public toilet, that means that mask is offering ZERO protection.

Ammonia smell = Previous unknown toilet user's evaporated urine..

When the compulsory mask usage announcement was made, there was a slight panic hoarding but now prices of mask start to drop down again.

Else if less than 5 people within talking range, I use my thick cloth rewashable filter one.

I wonder how long you guys wear the mask? Do you replace them everyday, save them and reuse after a period of time, or just use new one every time you go out?

Comparing same grade mask Medicos ASTM lv2 Blue Box (blue mask) vs Cross Protection ASTM lv2 ResQ 300 Plus (pink mask)

- Medicos material felt thicker but also harder
- Cross Protection material is soft n comfortable
- I also have medicos white box white mask, cross protection comfy level same like this one

Since both offers same protection, i now prefer cross protection over medicos

When u eat at restaurant where u put or keep the mask?

sling bag at one of the pocket dedicated to keep face mask

Some restaurant got provide plastic bag, if no then i would request for tissue paper n put mask on it

the outer layer of the mask may be already contaminated by virus etc after wearing sometimes. No recommend to keep in pocket, sling bag etc

Softness and skin feel: Medicos is NO. 1
Due to face structure, Medicos tends to slide off when I talk a lot.

Neutrovis: softness/ skin feel is quite close to Medicos, no poking/ scratchy feeling. Fit my face structure better than Medicos.

Quality: not quite sure but I think Medicos has more 'certification'

Just tried another popular brand in Singapore - Wistech. It is the worst mask i've wore, too-tight, bad stitching, constant poking/ scratchy feel on the face, super coarse materials.

Definitely worth it since it's washable after 20 times still maintain 93%? I think.

Is neutrovis good?

Good if you having trouble with the strap hurting your ears. You can wear longer period

Atm I moved to cloth for outer layer if I need wear 2 facemask. I am trying both proxmask and milwaukee both have large size and less pain on ears too.

I use neutrovis 3ply and 4ply. So far ok. Didn't hurt my ears or anything.

If the face mask not well fitting then it is very leaky, no?
So far my face mask experience:

Some elcheapo blue mask..this one feels too tight and mask coverage area like built for kids
Medicos 4ply ASTM III same as the ones used in children hospital nurses.. fit very well wear 10 hours last time also OK.. normal fit and fits my face well with sufficient coverage
3M N95 (8210) tight fit. Rubber band is meant for one single session wearing. Frequent mounting/dismounting can cause it to snap off. Used for times like this high cases + unavoidable crowd at PPV.

I staple the sides of my medical mask so they don't open up and leave gaps on the cheek area.

For KN95 I staple the bottom where. it tend to split

Bought Biocare because it pack every 10pcs in the same box, feel more safe as it won't explore during delivery. Haven't use yet but the quality looks great.

Neutrovis maybe a bit leaky at top since it can fog my glasses so can other brands too even trying bend the metal it still fog a bit. However the 2 expensive cloth facemask ProXmask & Milwaukee seems to be pretty good doesn't cause fog.

saw their review and decided to only go for Medicos & Top Mask (double mask)

It's a lot more important if the mask you are wearing fit and have tight enough seal on your face, else you completely voided the purpose of even wearing a face mask in the first place since it's meant to act as a protective barrier to others and yourself.

These days, I usually go with double masking with 3-ply or one single 4-ply. No point having the most expansive premium quality mask but it doesn't fit you or if you not wearing it properly.

i wear medicos + Top mask together...medicos at outside .... might feel uncomfortable , but normally i go out not more than 1hour ... so it is still acceptable for me ....

very wasteful for just going out to take away something then throw away. I just use Easycare or mr DIY mask. Easycare is cheap and comfy so far.

Do not use double surgical mask. Will worsen the fit. Even Medicos 4-ply also no use when fit is loose. Use cloth mask on top of surgical mask or like me, KF94 or Medicos C-fold. Both are quite cheap (Respack kf94 made in my rm30 for 20pcs) and can use a few times before throw. Sidenote: I will only use made in Malaysia mask. MIC mask too inconsistent in quality. Strap break all the time. Many places like CDC tested Chinese manufacturers mask and found same mask model different batch different quality.

sad that many are not aware of the reason for wearing the cloth mask outside which is to cover the loose side fitting of the disposable surgical mask. went to PPV for vaccination and saw many still wear double surgical face mask.

i go for double surgical becoz i want to cover the loose side fitting as well ...i did check and its nicely fit with a medicos cover with Top Mask.

how do you evaluate the performance ... to say best ?

have you seen the test reports if they comply to the specs that say/as stated on the box ?

been tryin to google to find but not found yet...

i think most dont comply ... like 90 % of mask on sale out there .
there a a few i saw on lax/shopee that provide pix of their test data form lab .

1. 4-ply mask from DonDonDonki (going out to public but not crowded places)
2. Xeralife Decontaminator Air Mask (going out to crowded places)
3. Pitta mask from DonDonDonki (least protection, only used for going down to collect parcel/letters on ground floor lobby)

look at the ATSM they declared and the lab report provide.

medicos is a reputable brand , so i dont worry about it....

normally i pair medicos with Top Mask , Top mask inside and medicos at outside . can seal the face very well....

on the FDA site ..can see many submitted mask from reputable companys worldwide. ... they fail the fda test for that spec..
i saw test data of one famous/ reputable brand mask . they fail test with BFE 61 % but they claim > 95 %

i think i am not asking too much if i want to see the lab data ...
just want to be real sure before buy / recommend a mask .

you can see some will stated in BIG ... N95 , FDA comply .or other...
and some will proudly attach the lab test reports. i feel this is important to see.
