I’m about to apply for PR in Singapore but to play safe, it’s better for my birth cert to have English in it which the old one that’s handwritten that I have now is in Malay.

1. Can my mom get a new copy on behalf of me? Birth cert is with my mom, I’m overseas.
2. Found it on google but not sure what it is, is the “replacement” called extract of birth cert?

Thank you.

Not sure how to get the new birth cert with dual language, but from my friends experience with applying PR in SG, you can pay some fee to get it translated and authenticated at the court

^This. Absolutely correct. I used court appointed translator in PJ court last time.

I am aware of this too, a colleague of mine got her birth cert translated by a translator company in Singapore but paid $200 dollars for it which I don't think it's worth it.

Anyway, I just called JPN regarding this, my mom can get a new copy with 2 language on behalf of me for only RM5.

Thanks guys

Hmmm, the parents of the birth cert owner will need to present his or her IC and the birth cert owner's IC too. Pay RM5 and will get the new birth cert on the spot!

Find a licensed translator to translate for you. Costs about rm100.

Did that when applying for a visa to travel to Canada as it is the requirement.

You can get the extract of birth cert (green colour) at JPN at only RM5. Since you are in Singapore, your parent can apply for that on your behalf. Make an appointment at nearest JPN, your parent can go and apply + collect the extract of birth cert within 1 hour.

One more point, to send the extract of birth cert to you via mail, please avoid pos laju. You may use DHL delivery service, the cost is about RM60, and you will be receiving the document within 2-3 days.

Total cost: ~RM60 (delivery) + RM5 (extract of birth cert) = ~RM65.

Please let me know if this will produce a birth cert in English, as I'm really curious.

Our family had to produce all our birth certs in English, for .... something overseas. My eldest sibling's birth cert was entirely in English, so that was okay. Mine had English and Malay, as in Nama/Name, but then the details were written in Malay, as in Pekerjaan Bapa/Father's occupation : Pegawai tentera, so I had to get a translation made. My younger siblings all had their entire birth certs in Malay.

The translation cost RM 80 (I think) with the court translator, chopped and signed and official. So, post back in this thread, I am sure I am not to only one who wants to know. Good luck in whatever you require the translation for.

Heard that too since Bahasa Melayu is also Singapore's national language but for the ease of mind, just get it done haha.

My cousin did it last month, and appointment was required. Perhaps you can give a call to the JPN officer, to check if the appointment is still required now.

It is better to check and confirm before you go. If appointment is required and your mom does not make appointment, the guard might not let her enter the JPN office.
