Honestly, most Chinese brands (even Huawei and XiaoMi) do not promise regular security updates and upgrade. You can see only see updates like every 6 months.
Last time, Samsung also notoriously bad in provide updates and upgrade. But they are getting better and coming out security updates every month.

Anyhow, I am planning to use this tablet as casual browing, FB, comic reading, ebooks.

To your FM radio problem with bluetooth, many phones also will not work. It is because the FM circuitary is not digitised and thus bluetooth connection is out of question. Somemore FM radio requires your headphone to act as antenna to have reception. rclxms.gif

My Old chinese 2 core tablet 4.4 Kit kat version has no problem to broadcast the FM Radio through the same Bluetooth speaker 5.0 & 4.0v , although it probably has the older bluetooth version of tablet , yup im using the earjack as an antenna , the radio wont open if there was no earphone/earjack . Im not sure if this related to the Radio app itself or the bluetooth setting in engineering mode cry.gif

I bought this last month from LZD. Got it about a week back. Below are my findings.

1. LCD doesn't go dim enough for nite use, have to use 3rd party app to reduce further
2. LCD doesn't go bright enough to be legible under sun, as long as indoors its fine
3. sound is loud, as loud as my S10 but it has no bass or treble unlike my S10. it's just midrange tones
4. no lag when using 3 button menu layout but if use android 10 swipe up menu there is lag
5. OS security patch is June 2020, don't think it will get updated in the future
6. no bloatware which is surprising
7. btry life for watching videos via wifi is exceptional easily 8 hours

overall, worth the money paid for RM429, will buy 2nd unit during 9.9 offer.

Does it support blue light filter which exist on Android 10?

I aware in Youtube review, the lowest brightness is still bright.

Too bad if there is a lag when using swipe gesture, maybe driver support is not good enough.

I do not expect much on security updates, just hope from time to time Teclast can release bug fixes sweat.gif

It is not Snapdragon 7xx or 8xx series.
If your expectation like flagship, I suggest go for Samsung S series tablets. The A series will not match your expectation,

in my opinion,

save ur money and go for samsung tab A . it's not much more (<rm800)
basically with these cheapo china tablet
- no warranty/after sales
- software is as dead as when it arrives
- questionable QC

i used to purchased teclast/cube. truthfully they r good @ that moment as those sammies were >1.4k those years.
so it's justified for the price difference. now, it's not worth the savings:risk involved
u get bugs here and there, with 0 support.
penny wise, pound foolish

Partially agree to your comments.

I had compare this model with Samsung Tab A 10 model which around RM800:
Samsung Exynos 7904 (8x core) with 2GB RAM
32GB storage
Screen resolution 1920x1200
Wifi only
The widevine is still level 3

.
Afaik, those Samsung 4G LTE tablets of >10" cannot make voice calls/SMS independently, ie must be paired with a smartphone to do so. China branded ones can, ie they are like smartphones or phablets.

Almost pull the trigger but looking at YouTube vix, the AllDoCube iPlay 20 seems "better" ...

But then, after further investigation, me is now hunting for Sammy Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S-Pen (model P205) in the coming days....

The price of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is almost 2x of P20HD.
Yes, it is with S-Pen and also nice One UI.
But Lesser RAM (3GB) and it is also just 8 inch.

Your money your call nod.gif

Marvelous... appreciate if U could give a short comparison on the screen quality becoz they claim it's IPS OGS screen which is quite hard to believe on this price range... Perhaps U could go to Sammy and Who-R-We kiosks and compare with similar low-end 10" tablet over there... I'm not worried about sound and chipset so much... screen is the No. 1 reason to go for 10" tablet... if the touch sensitivity, colour vibrancy and sharpness is as good as Sammy and Who-R-We counterparts, then, it's a steal...

I received the cube iplay 20. my first initial impression

GOOD
a) good quality feel, some heft to it. doesn't feel cheap and buttons are solid and doesnt rattle around. Dimension wise, it is quite an exact Mi pad 4 plus
b) Screen, my gawd..it's damn good for its price. I'm literally taken aback and surprised by the color reproduction and clarity. Backlighting edges (on white background) is a lil visible around the edges. again, for the price, it's definitely more than acceptable and will surprise you in a way. it's definitely not some cheap IPS/TFT where the image degrades/fall off on viewing angle. U do not noticed bleeding on non white background
c) performance, was surprisingly good. so far it's smooth and pleasantly good to use. usual youtube,FB, chrome runs well. i would say, you would not feel frusfrated using it. again, the price, it's acceptable. almost 100% stock android, no gibberish.
d) there are a few surprising OTA already on the website (for those who initially got it). mine came with latest rom with a small update. you don't normally or hardly get this with china tablet. so it's a bonus
e)3.5mm earphone output is good. good clarity .
f) batt life = not yet tested.
g) game= not a gamer myself. it's for my kiddo

BAD
a) well, ideally they could have improved the location of the dual speakers on the horizontal side placement instead.
b) power button/volume could be bigger and better placed.
c) -soon to come

I have read no where to find it to be OGS, perhaps it was an On-Cell Full Lamination a.k.a Oleophobic coating confused.gif

OGS im not sure if it refer same as the Oled Scrren which if it damage or crack the entire crack area will be touch ZERO a.k.a black-out a.k.a blink.gif

The normal IPS with touch screen and film digitizer if it get crack , it can be touch and use like normal w/o any of the touch zero area affected , only the crack will be visible and the screen can be touch like normal and color reproduction might affected or white/yellowish little due to the damage , just from my opinion by using alot of LCD screen Mobile .

Anyone using P20HD having problem with YouTube? I don't see the option to change video quality on some videos (usually music videos). When i check other kind of videos e.g. people talking about something e.g. review etc, the option is there but not on music videos.

YouTube version (15.33.34 & 15.39.35). I don't think it is Youtube problem because on my phone, I don't have such problem.

I do notice this problem. I think main possible root causes: HD/Full HD videos on Youtube does not get supported on the Unisoc processor. Thus only able to play the low resolution videos

Surprisingly, it works on the default YouTube app before the update. I am currently using the pre-installed YouTube as a temporary solution to this.

Interesting.

Could you please try the link below on your YouTube app and let me know if you could play it on full HD?

https://youtu.be/XqZsoesa55w

It works on the browser and everywhere else except for YouTube and Vanced app.

Also, are you on YouTube 15.40.37?

It has 2 speakers, both on the left, and will be facing the bottom (or top) when you hold it horizontally. They are quite loud but can be sharp to the ears.

After using it for about 1 month plus, I am finally ready to say a few words about the P20HD

Pros :
- Price
- USB type C
- Android 10
- Supports OTG (if you want to use keyboard, pendrive etc)
- Dual SIM (hybrid slot)
- Supports 4G
- Supports micro SD card up to 128 GB (via 2nd sim slot)

Cons :
- My charger plug stopped working after a month. While it was working, it gets extremely hot, to the extend I plug it far away from me (concerned that it will explode).
- Charging takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes from 5% to 100%
- Screen flickers once in a while. To solve this, under developer options, disable HW overlays (not the best thing to do but it solves the flicker problem).
- Screen is too bright at night in very low light conditions. You can't use screen dim apps because under some situation e.g. unlocking the device and when you go to settings, it doesn't work and you will have a shock with the sudden high brightness.
- Screen is still dim at maximum brightness when you are in outdoors (bright sunlight etc)
- The screen is too reflective and it is annoying while you are watching videos etc. It is like a mirror, you see your face.
- Only 6000 mAh battery, which is the same capacity as my Samsung M31 smartphone. Can you imagine how small is that for a 10-inch tab?
- Unable to choose a video quality for YouTube videos (to fix this issue, uninstall the update and use the factory YouTube. Disable YouTube auto-update)
- Audio quality is too sharp to my liking
- Audio quality via 3.5mm earphone is very flat. No bass at all. Better use Bluetooth earphone
- Typing is a little less responsive but still acceptable. You just have to type a tad slow. Disable pop up and sound if possible.

Overall, it is an ok-ok tablet. Not for extensive use. Can use for casual stuff. I will still keep it until its EOL because for that price, it is still a pretty decent tablet. I don't mind about the charger but I wish the display related issues were not there, especially the flicker and low-quality youtube videos.

I accidentally let Google Play Store upgraded the YouTube app to version 15.42.36

It seems the low res videos issue is resolved.

Hello, I'm considering getting one as a temporary machine for my studies. As some of my exams can only be taken on a PC, is it still better to get a laptop/desktop or get a teclast and use a virtual machine over cloud?
Thank you in advance.

Depends on your budget also.
Acer or Lenovo has laptop models cost around RM1800.

Should be pretty decent for quiz, exam and etc.

Hi... I just got my tab an using it now to reply to this thread. It's really really and above my expectations. I had leapad 10 fr leagoo, n an upgrade from tat is like upgrading fashion trend from 80s to 21st century. It's works perfectly fine, no lags wtsoeva, installing stuff fr play store is rather quick, and the screen... It's seriously awesome.. full HD for this price... U wun be able to get anywhere.. only thing is that it doesn't hv micro HDMI out.. other than that, the calls are clear, can get 4g signal, wifi antenna is strong, I get Max 250mbps speeds, which is rather awesome, as I get bout 280-300 Mbps on my Huawei p20 pro.. yes, I had a prob with YouTube, but as wat it has been discussed, do not update to the latest one, n download the latest Vanced, that should do the trick. The cameras... Well. Hardly usable, but for zoom n stuff, make sure it in well lit place.. it's fine then...

Overall, satisfied with this tab, it fulfills my day to day job, so no complains watsoeva. Jus hope that this tab will last atleast 3-4 yrs... N about updates, forget it.. what u get is the final version of it...

My 2 cents worth.. do buzz me if u guys want to know more bout this tab..

I checked OTA update and there was no update. Couldn't find the firmware online for the version we have.

Not sure how to get the latest firmware.

As for using this tab for Zoom etc, please take note that the cameras are not great. You need to be in a very well lit area.

just now browsing about teclast p20hd & almost decided to buy during upcoming 12.12. but I found out alldocube iplay 20 is superior than teclast p20hd.

main reason: the screen is fully laminated with gorilla glass means better screen viewing (without the gap) + no need to apply any screen protector forever!

techtablets do nominate this tablet as the best cheap tablets for 2020 & mentioned about the screen technology:

But it's a normal screen protector bro. and need to replace every now & then. been using many phone with gorilla glass since 10yrs ago & I never use any screen protector / tempered glass. never got scratches on the screen.

anyway, I just bought the latest Amazon fire hd 10 at S$150 yesterday night (equivalent to rm450). can't resist shopee sg big voucher, lol. even though the screen is not laminated & no gorilla glass, I'll just settle with tempered glass. because L1 widevine is too important for me. the main reason for me to buy budget tablet is for watching Netflix + YouTube + prime. so, die die I need to settle with the tablet that have L1 widevine cert, due to can stream & watch videos in FHD without any issues.

Maybe need to PM the seller (lazada or shopper).

As for isocube,. I thought it's more expensive than p20hd?
I managed to buy p20hd less than rm400 during 11/11 sales.

Amazon fire 10hd is usd79 on black Friday sales... Unfortunately, no travel shirt term... So this year no shopping spree...

Getting 10% shopee coins back is just icing. So the price is just 390.

Only problem is, it won't install Vanced. Not sure what the problem is yet. No new updates. Otherwise not a bad budget tablet at all.

Wonder how to change this?
2. Change screen width DPI to increase DPI as default DPI value makes the tablet become phablet

Any specific value to enter?

you can put 640 to make the components look smaller

For battery, please check what drains your battery power. Averagely, I can use 6 hours.

Does teclast p20hd support multiple otg devices?
I want to connect a standard size wired keyboard and a barcode scanner for POS system purpose. I know for a fact Alldocube iplay20 can't do it. It supports only one otg device.
Tried with 2 pendrives and a keyboard(total 3 devices connected) using ugreen hub but can't be detected. Hub works fine with other phones.

Keyboard/other devices can be detected using simple otg.

Feels slightly faster and responsive when scrolling or typing. The brightness issue is still there. Everything else feels the same as before.

Camera : not sure. Never used the camera on this device.

Earphone port (3.5mm) : Feels like the music quality is better than before, but still not good compared to my phone's quality.

the SOT published most likely with minimal brightness. At the end the screen on time still depends on the brightness you turned on for the device and also what other processes running behind the scene/background.

For this, may be a better idea to look out for a good condition used Ipad or Ipad Pro. You should get more screen time.

Anyone have problems with the screen being unresponsive on the edges?

For example when I have the keyboard up, I hit the "backspace" key and the "p" key registers.
It's almost like the screen calibration is off.

Can any gurus here provide advice on how to fix this problem?

Thanks!

Have you tried using any touch calibration app to fix this? There are plenty in play store.

Yep, just tried one that allows me to draw on the screen and there is a section about the width of the backspace key running the length of the screen (portrait mode) where I am unable to draw anything...meaning the screen does not register any touches there at all. It's looking more like a defective touch sensor. UGH

I might try opening it up and seeing if it's merely a loose connector.

If anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

How much is your teclast? My huawei mediapad T5 was only 699. I get frequent updates, like every month or alternate months. Still getting my updates this round. Ya it's 3gb ram 32gb rom. It's 4g enabled but I only use it at WiFi environment so don't have sim card. I put in a 32gb ram microsd because my fiancee saves ours photos into this tablet for future viewing purpose.

So far no laggy no issue. Only netflix has issue when I fast forward too many times continuously, the video will hang and must restart netflix. But netflix can start back from last watch so all is good.

Bought it last year for RM 399 during sale.
- 64GB internal storage.
- 4GB RAM
- 6000 mAh battery (Mediapad T5 5100 mAh battery)
- Android 10
- supports dual-SIM ( hybrid). LTE. Dual band WiFi

Of course, it is not the best tablet, but for that price, I am not complaining. It still does a decent job for that price la. For Netflix, definitely Mediapad T5 is the winner as I assume it supports Widevine L1, but I wonder why yours doesn't support FHD?

No idea why doesn't support FHD but I have no preference. But to date, my battery life very good. I usually use it at night coz day time is working time. Start using 8pm everyday after dinner to watch netflix. Can last 3 or 4 days watching videos from 8pm to around 10.30pm daily. Of coz come 4th day is subjective because battery at around 30%. Sometimes I continue watching, sometimes I'll charge it directly. Which teclast model is yours.

Also bigger battery don't translate to better battery life and longer usage time. Your chipset is unisoc SC9863A. Heard of this unisoc chipset? Your chipset is 28nm. My huawei is kirin 659, in 16nm. The different is 43% power usage. Having a larger battery purpose is to cover for the cheapo chipset. For 16% bigger battery, you are actually using 43% more power. And also unknown brands like teclast will not provide support after a few months. Mine still receiving although it's already a 3 yrs old tablet since launched by Huawei. Well my mediapad is also dual band WiFi LTE but of coz LTE is useless to me. I'm in a 500mbps Internet environment.

Well to each person, their preference. If your teclast has issues within 12 months of usage, really must ponder if rm399 is well spent, or should spend 300 more to get a stable tablet. My tablet is 1 and half years since bought last year February. Still good to date.

Is Mediapad T5 running on Android 10 or 11? I checked online and can only find Android 8 (Oreo) update available for this device. Please correct me if I am wrong. You may receive constant security updates and UI updates but I don't think it is as good as receiving an upgrade to OS 10 or 11. So in my opinion, any tablet is outdated after 2-3 years, be it Huawei or Teclast, unless you have spent a good RM 4K for a premium tablet such as the latest Matepad Pro or Samsung S7+ tab. And for a brand that is banned by major companies including Google itself, I don't see it as a stable device sweat.gif

As for the battery life, P20HD still lasts well, probably short 1-2 hours compared to Mediapad T5 as I have mentioned earlier but still good, isn't it? So 43% more power usage may sound as big as a dinosaur on the paper but in reality, it doesn't mean so much. Furthermore, the newer Android version also means better battery optimization.

Being said that, I am not going to say that Teclast P20HD is the best tablet in the world, but for that price, I don't find anything else better. And I am using my P20HD for more than 12 months, without any issues (EDIT : actually 11 months. I realised I bought it in September last year during 9.9 sales, but it feels like I am having it for years) :-). Well, nothing is perfect in this world. Any device could have issues and when it happens, it will be happier that I have only wasted RM 399 instead of RM 699.

Again, no tablet is perfect. If I am willing to spend more, I would still go for a better option, definitely not Huawei or Samsung or Apple (which I think overpriced) but another brand that has a decent reputation and good feedback/review. The key here is research. I am not going to buy some unknown tab just because it is cheap. I will definitely read a lot about the device to make sure it is worth spending on.

P/S : for those who are considering P20HD, you may also check out Alldocube iPlay 20S. Since P20HD is about RM 450 - 500 now, I personally think Alldocube iPlay 20S will be a good alternative, despite using the same processor and similar specs.

Ah that is true to a certain degree. Having Android 10 is better in a way. Yes it's Android 8.0. However as long as the manufacturer provided constant updates to 8.0 for performance optimization, why not? No point having Android 10 when your updates don't come anymore. Also banning from using Google carries no meaning since it only affects later phones, but not earlier models before the ban. Google also promised future updates to models before the ban. So all is fine. Having Android 10 is only good if it gets frequent optimizations. Otherwise, when u get a bad update and no more updates after that, rm300 down the drain. Some apps need later Android versions to function, but so far so good for me. Didn't encounter issues where my Huawei cannot use the app.

Of course as long as you don't mind the constant and long charging hours (6100 again 5100) then all is good. I'd prefer something that can last longer hours with lesser charging time. Anyway RM399 is definitely value for money if you don't mind most of the things like 1 yr life, short battery life and stuffs like that. On paper, it does look good with 4gb ram and 64 gb rom. But ya your choice. I'd rather spend a bit more and don't give me issues like touch screen issues, screen brightness issues etc etc etc. Haha for rm300 more (699 vs 399), I get a peace of mind knowing will last 2 yrs before my next upgrade, since tablet price don't go down that much compare to mobile phones and not much tablets are introduced in the market, I'd love to stick to one that can last me 2 yrs. Imagine u buy for a year, full of problems, then need to buy a new tablet, but most tablet price mostly the same, in the end 399 wasted. Buy another 399 of the same device?

Also, huawei has been doing tablet for years. So having huawei against some unknown brand like teclast, rm300 isn't that much. Teclast is rather new in the market, thus most reviews are of early stage usage. Use it longer and you'll find more issues. Anyway not a problem. Different people different perspectives.

Cheers.

Confirm can run Astro Go, no worries. Can install directly from Playstore.

Tried using another charger? Tried removing all the cards (SIM + micro SD) and then start the device?

Is there backlight on the screen when you try to turn on? Did you do any update before this happened?

To be frank, the warranty claim is quite tedious. I just assume that there is no warranty when I buy something which comes directly from China. You can still try.
