Anyone using P20HD having problem with YouTube? I don't see the option to change video quality on some videos (usually music videos). When i check other kind of videos e.g. people talking about something e.g. review etc, the option is there but not on music videos.

YouTube version (15.33.34 & 15.39.35). I don't think it is Youtube problem because on my phone, I don't have such problem.

I do notice this problem. I think main possible root causes: HD/Full HD videos on Youtube does not get supported on the Unisoc processor. Thus only able to play the low resolution videos
*
Surprisingly, it works on the default YouTube app before the update. I am currently using the pre-installed YouTube as a temporary solution to this.

Interesting.

Could you please try the link below on your YouTube app and let me know if you could play it on full HD?

https://youtu.be/XqZsoesa55w

It works on the browser and everywhere else except for YouTube and Vanced app.

Also, are you on YouTube 15.40.37?

How's the speaker quality? It's a "single sided" firing speaker only?
*
It has 2 speakers, both on the left, and will be facing the bottom (or top) when you hold it horizontally. They are quite loud but can be sharp to the ears.

After using it for about 1 month plus, I am finally ready to say a few words about the P20HD

Pros :
- Price
- USB type C
- Android 10
- Supports OTG (if you want to use keyboard, pendrive etc)
- Dual SIM (hybrid slot)
- Supports 4G
- Supports micro SD card up to 128 GB (via 2nd sim slot)

Cons :
- My charger plug stopped working after a month. While it was working, it gets extremely hot, to the extend I plug it far away from me (concerned that it will explode).
- Charging takes about 3 hours and 40 minutes from 5% to 100%
- Screen flickers once in a while. To solve this, under developer options, disable HW overlays (not the best thing to do but it solves the flicker problem).
- Screen is too bright at night in very low light conditions. You can't use screen dim apps because under some situation e.g. unlocking the device and when you go to settings, it doesn't work and you will have a shock with the sudden high brightness.
- Screen is still dim at maximum brightness when you are in outdoors (bright sunlight etc)
- The screen is too reflective and it is annoying while you are watching videos etc. It is like a mirror, you see your face.
- Only 6000 mAh battery, which is the same capacity as my Samsung M31 smartphone. Can you imagine how small is that for a 10-inch tab?
- Unable to choose a video quality for YouTube videos (to fix this issue, uninstall the update and use the factory YouTube. Disable YouTube auto-update)
- Audio quality is too sharp to my liking
- Audio quality via 3.5mm earphone is very flat. No bass at all. Better use Bluetooth earphone
- Typing is a little less responsive but still acceptable. You just have to type a tad slow. Disable pop up and sound if possible.

Overall, it is an ok-ok tablet. Not for extensive use. Can use for casual stuff. I will still keep it until its EOL because for that price, it is still a pretty decent tablet. I don't mind about the charger but I wish the display related issues were not there, especially the flicker and low-quality youtube videos.

I accidentally let Google Play Store upgraded the YouTube app to version 15.42.36

It seems the low res videos issue is resolved.
*
Just tried. Still the same for me.

And I also realized that the videos that I watch via instagram is also slightly blurry compared to on my phone. rclxub.gif

I saw in lzd reviews saying firmware update will resolve screen flickering issues...
Unsure how true it is.
I just ordered during 11/11 sales for e-learning during cmco, etc - zoom , Google classroom, etc
*
I checked OTA update and there was no update. Couldn't find the firmware online for the version we have.

Not sure how to get the latest firmware.

As for using this tab for Zoom etc, please take note that the cameras are not great. You need to be in a very well lit area.

Just got mine yesterday. Must say that considering the price, I'm impressed, truly value for money based on first impression.
My firmware is V1.04_20201105.

Anyone know of the usb-C can be used for external display via HDMI adapter?
*
Interesting. Mine is V1.02_20200731. No update via OTA.

I wonder how to update to the latest firmware.

Maybe need to PM the seller (lazada or shopper).

As for isocube,. I thought it's more expensive than p20hd?
I managed to buy p20hd less than rm400 during 11/11 sales.

Amazon fire 10hd is usd79 on black Friday sales... Unfortunately, no travel shirt term... So this year no shopping spree...
*
I have asked them and they sent me the firmware link but it is the same one which my device already has (v1.02)

Thanks for the info.

Got mine 2 days ago. Took about 1 week to arrive. Certainly very good bang for the buck.

Only problem is, it won't install Vanced. Not sure what the problem is yet. No new updates. Otherwise not a bad budget tablet at all.

I am using Vanced on mine. No issues.

Any noticeable improvement after update ?

Feels slightly faster and responsive when scrolling or typing. The brightness issue is still there. Everything else feels the same as before.

Camera : not sure. Never used the camera on this device.

Earphone port (3.5mm) : Feels like the music quality is better than before, but still not good compared to my phone's quality.

Anyone have problems with the screen being unresponsive on the edges?

For example when I have the keyboard up, I hit the "backspace" key and the "p" key registers.
It's almost like the screen calibration is off.

Can any gurus here provide advice on how to fix this problem?

Thanks!
*
Have you tried using any touch calibration app to fix this? There are plenty in play store.

Why buy teclast. I bought a Huawei tablet last year just for watching Netflix and astro go. Upto now, battery very good.can watch 6 to 7 hours videos online straight without issues.
*
Double / triple the price sweat.gif
You can still watch Astro Go on Teclast sweat.gif
Netflix also can but not FHD la nod.gif
Battery about 1-2 hours short. Still ok la dry.gif

How much is your teclast? My huawei mediapad T5 was only 699. I get frequent updates, like every month or alternate months. Still getting my updates this round. Ya it's 3gb ram 32gb rom. It's 4g enabled but I only use it at WiFi environment so don't have sim card. I put in a 32gb ram microsd because my fiancee saves ours photos into this tablet for future viewing purpose.

So far no laggy no issue. Only netflix has issue when I fast forward too many times continuously, the video will hang and must restart netflix. But netflix can start back from last watch so all is good.
*
Bought it last year for RM 399 during sale.
- 64GB internal storage.
- 4GB RAM
- 6000 mAh battery (Mediapad T5 5100 mAh battery)
- Android 10
- supports dual-SIM ( hybrid). LTE. Dual band WiFi

Of course, it is not the best tablet, but for that price, I am not complaining. It still does a decent job for that price la. For Netflix, definitely Mediapad T5 is the winner as I assume it supports Widevine L1, but I wonder why yours doesn't support FHD?

No idea why doesn't support FHD but I have no preference. But to date, my battery life very good. I usually use it at night coz day time is working time. Start using 8pm everyday after dinner to watch netflix. Can last 3 or 4 days watching videos from 8pm to around 10.30pm daily. Of coz come 4th day is subjective because battery at around 30%. Sometimes I continue watching, sometimes I'll charge it directly. Which teclast model is yours.

Also bigger battery don't translate to better battery life and longer usage time. Your chipset is unisoc SC9863A. Heard of this unisoc chipset? Your chipset is 28nm. My huawei is kirin 659, in 16nm. The different is 43% power usage. Having a larger battery purpose is to cover for the cheapo chipset. For 16% bigger battery, you are actually using 43% more power. And also unknown brands like teclast will not provide support after a few months. Mine still receiving although it's already a 3 yrs old tablet since launched by Huawei. Well my mediapad is also dual band WiFi LTE but of coz LTE is useless to me. I'm in a 500mbps Internet environment.

Well to each person, their preference. If your teclast has issues within 12 months of usage, really must ponder if rm399 is well spent, or should spend 300 more to get a stable tablet. My tablet is 1 and half years since bought last year February. Still good to date.
*
Is Mediapad T5 running on Android 10 or 11? I checked online and can only find Android 8 (Oreo) update available for this device. Please correct me if I am wrong. You may receive constant security updates and UI updates but I don't think it is as good as receiving an upgrade to OS 10 or 11. So in my opinion, any tablet is outdated after 2-3 years, be it Huawei or Teclast, unless you have spent a good RM 4K for a premium tablet such as the latest Matepad Pro or Samsung S7+ tab. And for a brand that is banned by major companies including Google itself, I don't see it as a stable device sweat.gif

As for the battery life, P20HD still lasts well, probably short 1-2 hours compared to Mediapad T5 as I have mentioned earlier but still good, isn't it? So 43% more power usage may sound as big as a dinosaur on the paper but in reality, it doesn't mean so much. Furthermore, the newer Android version also means better battery optimization.

Being said that, I am not going to say that Teclast P20HD is the best tablet in the world, but for that price, I don't find anything else better. And I am using my P20HD for more than 12 months, without any issues (EDIT : actually 11 months. I realised I bought it in September last year during 9.9 sales, but it feels like I am having it for years) :-). Well, nothing is perfect in this world. Any device could have issues and when it happens, it will be happier that I have only wasted RM 399 instead of RM 699.

Again, no tablet is perfect. If I am willing to spend more, I would still go for a better option, definitely not Huawei or Samsung or Apple (which I think overpriced) but another brand that has a decent reputation and good feedback/review. The key here is research. I am not going to buy some unknown tab just because it is cheap. I will definitely read a lot about the device to make sure it is worth spending on.

P/S : for those who are considering P20HD, you may also check out Alldocube iPlay 20S. Since P20HD is about RM 450 - 500 now, I personally think Alldocube iPlay 20S will be a good alternative, despite using the same processor and similar specs.
