Hi,
Anyone here use this before? Can this work? I plan to ditch the maxis default router by going:

ONT -> Custom router -> VOIP gateway -> dect phone.

If Linksys VoIP Gateway asking VLAN ID, you need make a bridge like this:
eth0.822 > eth4.822

If not asking VLAN ID, simply Tag to Untagged:
eth0.822 > eth4

eth0 is WAN port
eth0.822 is WAN port with VLAN ID 822

I do this on EdgeRouter-X, I make a bridge, and still using Maxis supplied Router as VoIP Gateway.

hi thanks for the answer. The reason I am going the above route is because my original plan was

ONT -> Custom Router -> Maxis router (Aminia) -> Dect Phone...the internet and wifi works from the Custom router but my DECT phone get an engaged tone. I cant call in from outside too.
Hence to try the above method with the linksys.

Some other ppl suggested going ONT -> Maxis Router (Dect Phone) -> Custom router (bridge mode) but I do not want to use Maxis as the main router however this configuration should be able to work.

I use the maxis c5v only as a voip gateway. Main router is a Asus. Why need to buy something if you already have the maxis unit. Turn off DHCP and off the WiFi and just use the C5v.

Is your

1. ONT -> Maxis c5y -> Asus or
2. ONT -> Asus -> Maxis c5y -> Dect phone

My issue is not with the internet or wifi. Its the VoIP Dect when connected gives an engage tone rather than a dial tone.

ONT =>asus router (lan 3 is default voip on asus) =>maxis => dect phone.

Works good because I know the maxis router is crap.

By the way on Asus router no special settings because firmware already allocate lan 3 for voip.

What router you using. If tplink confirm does not support voip cause I bought an AX50 and tested. Also called tplink to confirm.

Yep bought Ax50 it does not support voip hence need to use back the maxis. I connect Lan4 from AX50 to Wan port of the maxis router. technically should be able to work. But I am getting an engage tone. still trying to figure out why it cant work for the phone.

When I called TPlink they said that even though in the options shows lan 4 is voip but they confirm it doesn't work.

thanks for the info. Did they say it cant work due to hardware or software? if software future patch might solve this prob.
Oh ya does the AX50 specs says it supports SIP v2 or passthrough? hmm.gif

I don't think the specs say that. Also I think it's hardware not software because I searched around if you flash some other firmware but could not find anything. Anyway I sold the AX50 and continue with my Asus for now cause actually don't have any client with WiFi 6. I will probably get the Asus Ax3000 to replace in the future.

wow thank you for the info. For the ONT i think it is locked by the ISP. But the rest will give it a try. Is your Archer C5v the default router provided by maxis?

Yes, I have 2 Archer C5v due to updated Firmware by Maxis during PKP, VoIP require Internet (621) instead of VoIP VLAN (822),
I ask Maxis give older Firmware working Archer C5v and they post, this happen during PKP (April)!

Before I using EdgeRouter-X,
Archer C5v is pretty decent Router, Stable, Wireless also Fastest then TM default!
Now I make it as Wireless AP & VoIP GW, EdgeRouter-X give more control on my network.

this statement is interesting ...is this the reason you connect eth3 to Lan1?

Yea,
eth3 > LAN1 make Archer C5v as Switch & Wireless AP
eth4 > WAN allow Archer C5v as VoIP and Remote Management

Assuming you did not make the eth3 connection but ONLY the eth4. Can the VoIP Dect phone still be able to work?

no, you need Bridge VLAN 822 to WAN to make it work

this part I understand. I also did the vlan tagging as per your way as well but I am not getting a dial tone but rather an engage tone. High probability is that as per what Jet suggested the AX50 does not support the SIP passthrough eventhough the official tplink says it can. But since you say it also needs the 621 together with the 822 to work I ask the questions.

Firmware I use is: v1.0_191212, this working FW that use VLAN 822

It seem AX50 remove VLAN Tag after you bridge,
Try connect PC to VLAN 822 LAN port that you set, if PC get 10.61.192.0 - 10.61.223.255, it mean AX50 remove VLAN Tagging, it should Tag to Tag Bridge

Hi,

Not sure who to ask, but it seems like you had this figure out so I'm just gonna ask notworthy.gif :

I'm switching to a custom router, but would like to use Voip. Therefore the old maxis router (MA141) will be used solely for Voip. Here is my current configuration:

Huawei ONT -> custom router(OPNsense) -> Aminia MA141 -> RJ11 corded phone.

I tried configuring OPNsense as per your diagram. From WAN (port 1) I have 3 tagged VLANs, 621, 822, 823. 822 and 823 are bridged to VLANs 822, 823 on another port (port 2) connected to MA141. LAN port is on port 0, configured to VLAN 621 via PPPOE.

Internet is working fine, but the VOIP function doesn't work at all (beeps a few times as if phone is busy and disconnects). Any pointers to get it working?

Cheers

Never mind, managed to figure it out.

All I had to do is to use the same PPPOE username and password given by Maxis on the old router as well.

good to hear that...usually the main aim is to minimize the number of hardware linking...less hop, less issue, easier maintenance.

if ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) didn't work with Maxis VoIP, you need tweak something if ATA support it,

I have write full guide how to make it work:
