Not all MLMs are scams (although I don’t subscribe to the philosophy per se) - Tupperware, Amway etc all have a good range of products that are popularly used - and when done correctly, it’s a viable means to make a living.

You can tell if it is a scam, if the MLM promotes some form of membership fees over their products. A friend promoted atomy to me with very low ridiculous minimal fee (or was it free? I can’t remember.) You have to buy their products every 12 months IIRC. I didn’t join because i could get their products from shopee and lazada. I also was too busy with my work to do this MLM.

Atomy isn't a scam. I have an account with them but I just purely used it to purchase their health products. They have a wide range of daily products to good health products. I taken their probiotics and supplements. It helped to maintain my immune system.

They have outlets in many places and they are like amway.

Depends on what you looking for. Its legit.

But don't expect to have very high incomes because there's certain limitations .

do check the products, they are likely overpriced.
apparently no membership fee is like the main bait here.

but what do I know, I'm not an MLM advocate.

there are more takes here from other people. do have a read:

from one of the user:

It doesn't matter that there's no signup fee. That just means that the company is willing to forego an initial cash investment but will get its money from you a little further down the road without your knowing it.

Basically, all MLM and DS companies are "scams" selling over-priced consumer products, some with dubious claims of extra health benefits or goodness, like can even cure cancer and multiple sclerosis/ALS. They are not very different from life/medical insurance, lottery and casino companies, ie a numbers game. Only the companies are guaranteed riches, not the majority of members and buyers or "fools" = many "fools" being "scammed" by the very few top-tier company founders.

"A fool and his money are soon parted".

.
PS - Once you start working and earning, these "scam" companies will be like vultures circling over your head to "eat you alive", ie take away your hard-earned money. "Caveat Emptor".

MLM, if you have the passion and time to persuade all your circles or even strangers to join and use said products so that you earn income. If not, better forget about it. Sometimes in the long term your friends even don't want to meet up if you overdo promoting to them.

I dont agreed illegal mlm products are cheap. It has to expensive to make believe and also to make the kill before they close shop. Like people said, you want to rob, do it big ...after all jail time and fine are certain when caught

That is the traditional MLM strategy.

Newer MLM has forego the membership fee to entice more people to join. Usually they will have some limitations like you have to buy X amount of product to maintain X amount of discounts for your purchase on your account, X amount of product must be purchased to maintain X amount of membership level or X minimum purchase needs to be made to keep your membership active.

Usually the upline will receive portion of the downline purchase amount as incentives which encourage the upline to aggressively push the downline to over purchase. One of the MLM doing this is LuLaRoe.

MLM is bad for the market. mediocre products sold at inflated price to cover layers of commission in pyramid scheme. it will die off as online shopping continue to grow and traditional housewives clubs trend down
